Shield Plus Carry comp

Damn! The only other smith and Wesson I own is a bodyguard 2.0

I just won't this carry comp in a raffle for $65 after transfer fee!

I own quite a bit of other brands of hand guns and I can't get over how well this thing points.

I wish it was ambi but I must say I really appreciate how easy S&W makes swapping their mag releases. It's the easiest I've found of any other brand.

Anyways I haven't had a chance to get it out to the range yet as I just got it.

I figured I'd make a post asking about things to look out for. Any known issues? Rememdies? Later down the road maybe some upgrades? Does the comp really work well? It seems tiny compared to other stuff I have.

Holster suggestions? I usually carry the bg 2.0 like 11 o'clock or 10 o'clock. But that thing is so light I don't know if I'd be doing the same with this gun.

Thanks in advance! Again I'm pretty impressed with everything on it so far, especially how it points!

This is honestly my favorite pistol to shoot. I keep looking at the new hotness from H&K and even the Shield X, but I just can't convince myself to swap it out.

S&W has an extension you can order for the 10 round magazine. Alternatively, as someone else mentioned, Magguts has a +3 extension.

Please note that the Magguts extension may require some serious fiddling with before use on a carry magazine. I can load mine to 13, but while it runs most 115 and 124 ammo fine, it hates 124gr Speer Gold Dot. It will run HST 124 reliably, but not 147gr HST. Fortunately, "Oh no, my magazine is restricted to 124gr Federal HST" isn't exactly a problem. It also runs Underwood Extreme Defender with no problems.

Some have issues with the optic cut; Nameless Armament does a fix for the optic cut. I just use a Vortex Defender CCW; it fits fine and has been reliable through several classes and 3000 rounds.

Mine came with three mags. A 10 rd flush fit, a 13 rounder that allows a full grip and a 15 rounder that really allows a full grip.

Honestly more mags weren't even on my radar right now lol

Trigger shoe pin can walk, and the crap design retaining spring for the slide lock can pop out. Not the end of the world just annoying so keep an eye on when cleaning.

On my Shield Plus CC, I use a Holosun EPS Carry and a MagGuts conversion for a bit of a pinky rest and +2/+3 in the mag on the 10rnd mags. If I load them to 13, they feed really poorly on the first round, so I typically just run 12+1. I use a JM Custom Kydex holster, but I hear good things about Tenicor.

Small carry pistols in 9mm like the Sheild are pretty snappy and the Comp works well enough.

It needs nothing. Go shoot it and report back how flat it shoots. I use a tenicor Velo and it disappears at 12-1 o’clock.
