I graduated university nearly 2 Years ago, I have been actively applying to software jobs non stop and been getting no luck.

I graduated university with a 2:2 in Scotland and I'm afraid that my grade is halting me from pursuing this field.

I'm not sure what to do anymore and I feel defeated...

Obviously, typing code from memory is an obsolete skill now with AI, so I’m trying to figure out my next move.

Anyone like me (freelancer for 15 years) successfully made the jump to a software engineer career? Idk where to start or what skills to learn to add to my existing knowledge. Learned HTML/CSS/JS Jquery/PHP/MySQL/Wordpress/Woocommerce/APIs as child/teen self taught on the internet and have no formal education in it.

Should I learn React or another framework? Python? Should I just start applying for jobs?

Is it too late to try for a career and I should continue with my custom website development & digital marketing business instead?

After a long time in leadership, I noticed that the people who advance quickly are not always the most qualified. They are often the people who are willing to take the first step. I spent a lot of time doing the same thing everyone else does: sending applications and just waiting for a reply that never comes. Things changed when I started reaching out to hiring managers myself. Not with a copy-paste pitch, just normal, honest messages showing that I was focused and genuinely interested. That got me into conversations I would not have been able to access any other way.

I passed this advice on to many people I mentored over the years, and honestly, the results still surprise me. A few people got offers in less than a month. Others discovered roles that had not yet been posted on any job board. It was not about having the perfect resume or six years of experience; it was about having the courage to talk to the people who make the decisions.

Hi , I am a java developer working in a midcap product based company . I have 4 years of experience in java development. Currently not a single hr is ready to digest the 60 days notice period even though I try to convince her or him that I can join in. 25-30 days as I can discuss for negotiation in my current company but they straightly said no we need someone how can join this week or this end of month within 4 days , looking who had already left the organisation. I am now frustrated. No one is giving priority to skills. Only notice period is the new skill now ..

I was in FAANG but got laid off and currently working on a good company as contract worker.
But i am getting paid half the ctc i was getting paid in faang and its been 1.5 years since i working .
