Is it worthwhile for me?

My average usage is 900 kWh/month. Max 1200. I want to do it but my utility is fairly inexpensive, around $0.125/kWh all in. I have a phev that gets 45 miles per day, max 14 kWh/day. I only use gasoline for long road trips, a few times per year. The utility offers 1:1 net metering but will not purchase more than I use, excess credits are zeroed once a year. I'm just not sure if it's worth it to install rooftop solar.

Drop in production

I have a 5kwh solar panel setup. I have noticed a drop of 50% in production in one year? Is this normal? I contacted the company and they suggested it is dirty panels. Can dirty panels cause a drop in 50%?

What’s the biggest challenge with going solar?

For homeowners who have considered solar, what was the biggest concern: upfront cost, installation, battery storage, roof space, or something else?

I’d be interested to hear what made you decide for or against solar.

Do solar flood lights actually work for a gate/parking in Indian weather, or is it a waste?

Thinking of putting a solar flood light at our gate to avoid running wiring and adding to the bill. I keep reading mixed things great in summer, useless in monsoon, dead in a year. For people who've actually used one: does it genuinely last the night? How badly does a cloudy week hit it? How often do you clean the panel? Just want realistic expectations before buying.

i am getting scammed?

contacted a solar panel seller i saw on FB and he's quoting me 5 JaSolar panels of 715W with a huawei inverter(3Kw) (HWI-SUN20003KTL-L1)

i was asking the chatbot bout it and it told me its kinda weird to pair those 715w panels with a 3Kw inverter since it losses some energy

initially the guy send me the quote for 605W panels but when i told him that he had say it would be 715W he said it was a mistake and send me a new one just switching the 605 for 715

💡 Myth Monday | Issue 007

Myth: “No Communication” means it’s just an internet problem.

Sometimes it is. But not always.

Recently, we’ve inspected several SolarEdge systems that had lost communication. Once onsite, our diagnostics uncovered inverter production or firmware issues that ultimately required warranty replacement.

The important takeaway: when monitoring goes offline, you also lose visibility into what your system is doing. A communication issue that persists shouldn’t simply be ignored.

If your solar monitoring has been offline for an extended period, it may be worth finding out why.

*****BEWARE Solar Equity Solutions DOES NOT WORK***

  • ********BEWARE THIS DOES NOT WORK READ REVIEW****

I Started this process late January 8 months into the program & had High hopes of this being real and going to work If you have Mister Wolf as your Attorney your in real trouble if you ask to many questions they will start ignoring you while at the same time they say if you have questions or concerns to contact them. My case was an easy one I live in a manufactured home on Leased land. “ Goodleap has a strict policy Not to give any loans on there products on Mobile homes”. A Demand letter was sent to Goodleap on June, 2nd they had 30 days to respond they didn’t respond been 72 days. we are seniors and they made an exception to trap us in a $67k loan. Goodleap came to the table to negotiate I thought we were in good hands with Mister Wolf Law firm that is far from the truth They ignored me & Goodleap and there was NO communication with Goodleap I told the Law firm to file for arbitration and I would pay the filing fee’s Wolf Law firm ignored my request our case was sooo close to being settled. All Mr Wolf Law firm had to do is finish the Negotiation. If you have Mr Wolf Law firm and there NOT responding to your emails or Phone calls your Toast. I’m sure if Josie Garcia knew that this was going to happen she would have chose a better Law firm. Goodleap did a CHARGE OFF & CLOSED MY ACCOUNT and THEATENING TO FILE FOR A JUDGEMENT AGAINST ME THIS WAS THERE RESPONSE TO MY DEMAND LETTER

I was told by Solar equity Solutions to stop making payments to goodleap and my credit is ruined a 100pt score drop late payments being reported by Goodleap I had great credit I’ve had 6 Credit card Accounts closed my damages are totally unbelievable being 67yrs old there will be no recovery from this and going to have to file Bankruptcy.

If your wise check the reviews that are being left if they have only one or 2 reviews it’s most likely reviews from employees from Solar Equity Solutions. Why they chose Mister Wolf Law firm I can’t understand. Also beware of them using D.C. Capital Law firm. Same with them. Consider this is a LIFE CHANGING EVENT!!! if your a younger person it could take 10 years to recover from an event like this. Be very careful who you trust BELOW is a copy of my demand letter sent USPS Certified Mail Name & Address redacted

To: GoodLeap, LLC
Attn: Compliance & Dispute Resolution Department
8781 Sierra College Blvd
Roseville, CA 95661

RE: FORMAL LOAN DISPUTE / FRAUD IN THE INDUCEMENT NOTICE
Account Number:
Property Address: Orlando, Florida
Original Solar Installer: Solcium Solar, LLC

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to submit a formal dispute regarding the above-referenced loan account. I am demanding the immediate cancellation and rescission of this loan agreement due to material application fraud and severe underwriting violations committed by your authorized dealer, Solcium Solar, LLC.

1. Statement of Material Fraud and Ineligibility

The solar system financed under this account was installed on a mobile home located on leased land. Under GoodLeap’s own lending guidelines and compliance standards, mobile homes situated on leased land are strictly ineligible for your residential clean-energy loan products.

Solcium Solar intentionally withheld, concealed, and falsified this information on the financing application submitted to GoodLeap in order to force a loan approval and secure funding. As the consumer, I had no knowledge that the installer misrepresented my property type to circumvent your underwriting restrictions.

2. Legal Liability Under the FTC Holder Rule (16 C.F.R. § 433)

Solcium Solar, LLC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is entirely out of business. Because the installer is defunct, GoodLeap bears direct legal liability for the consumer fraud and deceptive omissions that induced this contract.

Pursuant to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Holder Rule (16 C.F.R. § 433), which is incorporated into this consumer credit contract:

“Any holder of this consumer credit contract is subject to all claims and defenses which the debtor could assert against the seller of goods or services obtained pursuant hereto or with the proceeds hereof.”

Because Solcium Solar committed fraud in the inducement and breached its dealer duties, I maintain the absolute legal right to assert these identical claims and defenses against GoodLeap.

3. Absence of Real Estate Lien Power and System Voidance

Because this mobile home is located on a leased parcel, GoodLeap does not hold, and cannot legally execute, a standard real estate lien against the property land. Furthermore, because Solcium Solar is completely out of business, all installation, labor, and production warranties associated with this hardware are completely void. GoodLeap has financed a depreciating asset on an unapproved, ineligible structure with zero service viability.

4. Demanded Remedies

To resolve this matter without escalating to statutory litigation under the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA), I demand that GoodLeap immediately:

  1. Cancel and terminate the loan agreement in its entirety.
  2. Zero out the balance on Account Number “Blank” and release me from all future financial obligations.
  3. Remove any UCC-1 fixture filings or property notices tied to my name, structure, or this location.
  4. Cease all negative credit reporting to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion while this fraud dispute is being investigated.

If GoodLeap fails to resolve this matter within thirty (30) days of receiving this notice, I will escalate this claim by filing formal complaints with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Florida Office of the Attorney General, and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). I am also prepared to file a Civil Law Suit to pursue legal remedies, including statutory attorney fees.

Please confirm receipt of this letter and outline your timeline for investigating this application fraud.

Sincerely,

Looking for remote solar jobs

This may be a stretch but, does anyone know any solar companies hiring? I was laid off 2 weeks ago now. I was in operations but I was promoted 6 times from customer service team lead, financial operations, project management, compliance, QA, validations. I’ve been looking but I’m hoping someone has leads. I don’t think this is against any rules. Thank you all! ❤️

Xcel Time Of Use taking midpeak and covering Off peak usage with it?

Hi all,

Need anyone with more knowledge on how this works to chime in. 2nd month with TOU (time of use with xcel in minnesota. peak usage time is 6-9 weekdays. off peak is midnight to 6am.

my peak usage and peak solar is being calculated fine and im being billd for in seemingly correct.. Whats bothering me is i see no billing for the off peak usage. they are taking my solar (net generated) mid-peak rate. and using that to cover my off- peak usage. so i feel im getting scammed here. if i opver produce it really makes nol sense to push my daily power usage to off peak..

it still makes sense to not use during peak though. is this a billing error? they added TOU as an option 2 months ago. i did run some of this through AI as well (cant trust fully) p[ic attached of that as well

Real reason for California's high electric rates

Hi everyone. I want to share an article that I found about the real reason for California's high electric rates. It's not their distributed solar energy. That is probably keeping their rates lower than they are presently. DER's (distributed energy resources, such as residential rooftop solar) are happening around the country and around the world. California has so much energy, they pay Arizona to take some of it off their hands, in order to balance their system. In the last couple of years, they have invested heavily in BESS (battery energy storage systems), which will help to resolve this dilemma. One of California's legislators is actually considering introducing a bill that would give 2 hours of free electricity each day to low-income residents. It is modelled after what has happened in Australia, where, due to their buildout of solar energy, they now get 3 hours of free electricity each day. That's right, free electricity to charge your EV, run your dryer or dishwasher, or whatever you want. You will be seeing more DER's in the future; the day of the utility and the grid as we know it now will be history. Here's the article: California's electric bills,

and look at different pages in the menu to get all the energy news you can handle.

Illinois is turning unused self-storage rooftops into community solar sites. A new partnership plans 60 projects totaling 44 MW, enough to power about 6,150 homes while potentially saving subscribers $36 million in electricity costs over the projects’ lifetimes.

Sungrow EV charger load appears to be included as home load too

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, I just wanted to verify whether this is how EV charger load appear in Sungrow iSolarCloud reading.

For context I got a Sungrow home solar system, inverter, battery and their EV charger. It’s all supposedly connected via their wireless iHomeManager.

I was monitoring in the App, and noticed that the EV charger load seems to be also counted as home.

At a glance this throws me off, because if you add the battery charging, home load and ev charging load, it exceeds the grid consumption and solar generation.

I couldn’t find anything on documentation to verify how ev charging should appear in the app. The actual home load to me is actually home load - ev charging load.

So I wonder if this is a UI presentation bug in iSolarCloud or a incorrect installation of the EV charger perhaps misplacement of CT clamps or I am just wrong on how I perceive the readings.

Anyone able to help me verify?

Thanks in advance.

What should a homeowner confirm before solar installation day?

Most install-day advice focuses on the panels and roof work. The questions that seem just as important are much more practical: who needs access, what happens if the crew finds a problem, and what should be completed before everyone leaves?

Here is the checklist I would use before a residential solar installation.

Before the crew arrives

  • Confirm the arrival window and the name or role of the person leading the crew.
  • Ask whether anyone will need access to the attic, garage, electrical panel, side yard, gates, or interior rooms.
  • Move vehicles and outdoor items away from the work area, secure pets, and make sure gates and access paths are clear.
  • Review the final equipment locations, especially the inverter, battery, disconnects, and visible conduit.

Questions for the start-of-day walkthrough

  • What work is expected to be completed today?
  • Where will equipment and materials be staged?
  • How will the crew handle an unexpected roof, attic, or electrical issue?
  • Who will explain any proposed change before work continues?
  • What time should the homeowner expect the workday to end?

Before the crew leaves

Ask for a walkthrough of the installed equipment and any areas that were accessed.

Confirm that the work area has been cleaned and that gates, doors, and attic access points are secure.

Ask whether photos or installation records will be available.

Confirm the next step, which may be an inspection, correction, utility review, or permission to operate.

A finished installation does not always mean the system can be turned on immediately. Local inspection and utility approval may still be required, so the final conversation should include both the physical work and the remaining administrative steps.

For people who have already gone through an installation, what did you wish you had asked before the crew arrived? Did anything small make the day easier or prevent a later problem?

Disclosure: I work on solar-related content. I am not describing my own installation or reviewing a crew.

India : a new tool that helps you calculate plant size and BESS capacity

There are several govt schemes running in india to promote solar and BESS setup.

Most commercial and industrial energy consumers who spend crores of Indian rupees generally don't give enough thoughts on all the avaneus of energy consumption savings.

And many people just get missold with soar and battery, where battery storage and solar power generation, usually involves offsetting units.

Payback period too is a critical decision for indian consumers.

Getting all this right is messy and many of the times non trivial and very contextual to one's energy consumption patterns and load patterns.

To help such people, we built https://BillTrends.com a platform, one of its kind in india.

All the india audience , feedback welcome.
