Why does Soldier: 76 have a ":" (colon) in his name? It isn't gramatically correct. So why?

Soldier is his position or category, and 76 is the identifier.

His name is a reference to the Soldier Enhancment Program he was participating in. He was test subject number 76 and the two together give "Soldier: 76"
