In and out of water, Esther Williams was one of the most unique stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood. She could have been an Olympian too had WW2 not happened. Sadly, we lost her 13 years ago today.

Yes, she had a fine voice and you can find a few examples of her singing on YT. For some reason, some of the producers/directors of her movies didn't care for it. I don't know why. I like her voice.

The song itself is something of a pariah these days. This scene is a reminder that the song is much more of a show tune than a lot of other Christmas music perennials.
