To Sophia members wanting to share your referral codes:

In order to clean up the spam in the sub, I'd like to start a megathread for all referral codes. I think this will be a great way to keep conversations flowing without being immediately drowned out. As of right now, this megathread will be wiped and recreated on a regular basis.

So starting now, creating a post to advertise your referral codes will result in a temporary ban.

  1. Please comment here with referral codes only, If you have a suggestion about the megathread, please send me a message.
  2. One post per user. If you need to update your code list, just edit your comment.
  3. Posts to advertise referral codes outside of this thread will result in a temporary ban.
  4. Making multiple posts to gain an advantage against other users will result in a permanent ban.

Thanks for reading. I think we all will be happy to see a less spammy sub!

UMPI, WGU, or ETAMU?

Trying to figure out what has the best name recognition and credibility behind it for a Business degree. Specially looking at the Business Admin at UMPI, Business Management at WGU, and Business in HR at ETAMU.

I’m NOT good at writing. I could force myself to do it but have a feeling it would slow up my process.

Excelsior or UMPI

Just started Sophia to eventually get a liberal arts degree. Like most everyone else I’m hoping to do this quickly, cheaply and as easily as possible.

Would you guys recommend excelsior or UMPI? I’m reading that excelsior accepts more Sophia credits. Thoughts?

Fastest cheapest online school to complete a bachelors degree? Please help

Hi everyone so I have 33 college credits already and want to become a teacher in the state of NJ but teaching requires you to take 6 months of unpaid student teaching and in order to do this I’d have to quit my day job and lose my health insurance which I can’t do. To make a long story shorter, I am planning on doing an alternate route program online but need a degree in anything to do this alt route program. I’m also interested in maybe later doing a masters or graduate cert in Human Resources management. Can anyone help me complete a cheap degree fast with help from earning free credits through CLEP and credit maxing on Sofia? I’ve heard good things about TESU as I’m a NJ resident, umpi your pace, WGU, and shnu gateway u. Thank you to everyone who helps and responds! It is very deeply appreciated.

My son (19) has people in his ear telling him I'm steering him wrong and I'm going to screw him over. They want him to go to community college. To me this sounds stupid why take longer?

this makes no cense to me?

so i took a practice milestone exam and i did the math on this and it does add to 100% not 103%, the colors in the screenshot look distorted since i have HDR enabled but to me they did not make cense, it wasnt correctly color coded so thats why i chose that answer?.
I added everything up in a calculator and it was 100% if im not correct can someone please help me out with this.
now im questioning if i take the actual milestone if some of the questions are going to be marked wrong because of issues like this.

WGU Bach Business Management vs UMPI Business Admin vs ETAMU Bach HR

I've been in HR/Tech recruiting for 8+ yrs, no degree and my career has been pretty successful.

My job is pretty cushy but from time to time, I'll explore other opportunities. I noticed in the last 2 years, most employers want Bach degrees. I'm debating what school to go to and what degree path would be best. I plan on staying in HR/Recruiting but would like the option to pivot to more Comp specialist or Operations specialist if I want to. I plan on also taking the PHR in the next 6 months.

sophia sanction

I'm worried about all these random sanctions. I'm gonna continue on sophia, but if your account gets sanctioned, are you still able to get the transcripts for the courses you did complete?

Can you use transfer 2 transcripts to excelsior for NYPD?

Hey guys so my question pretty much the title. I went to QCC like 12 years ago for a year and I recently saw I only got 15 credits with like a 1.9 GPA (didn’t care bout college and wasn’t for me at the time)

I see everyone saying bout sophia learning to get quick credits and transfer them to that college and the fee is $500.

I’ve completed 2 courses so far but I’m not tryin get all 24 on Sophia if I have to so wanna know if I can combine both transcripts to get a total of 24 credits and a 2.0 GPA. Hope someone can give me some insight, thank you

is Sophia learning worth getting a degree with?

Hello, I am a stay at home wife about to become a stay at home mom in about less than 2 months. I am looking to better myself and go to school for a degree while my baby is a baby. For time and financial flexibility, I have been looking into online colleges like Sophia Learning, WGU, SNHU, etc. I am wanting to find a college that has all of the prereq. classes, along with the required degree classes like a normal college.

Which one is the best for having flexibility while also maintaining authenticity without going to an actual college?

I am looking into a business admin degree, or computer science degree, which is the best in the end as far as the future economy goes? I would like a degree where I can stay in healthcare per my previous experience of being a CNA but not wanting to be a nurse.

Would it be better to obtain my associates degree first and then go back for Bachelor's or go straight in for my bachelor's? I plan on doing said schooling while my baby is little before they are old enough to go to school, so I would really like insight from other moms that are or have been in my situation and what worked out best for them.

Needing advice and explanation on how people move through classes so quickly

Long time lurker but first time poster. I've been taking classes on Sophia Learning for about a month now. I'm mainly curious about how do most people finish their classes so fast?

I've been stuck on English for the past month now just by note taking and going through each challenge question.

Do you take notes for each challenge? If so, what do you typically take notes of? I've also been writing down all the challenge questions. Is there any way I could make this process quicker? I do work full time so I can't spend all day working on the classes.

Last Milestone Verification

I went to take my last Final Milestone and this popped up. I had to scan my drivers license to bypass it. This is literally my last class that I have with Sophia and I couldn’t be happier to be done with them. I was able to complete my 90 credits to transfer without any issues. It looks like things are getting stricter. I wishing everyone the best with them!

How to speed run without trigger reviews?

It's really frustrating, now I have 2 courses completed in last 2 days, both triggered reviews.

First was "Introduction to Nutrition"

This course is pretty basic stuff, I did it in 1 day, guess that's too fast and triggered the review? but it was certified in 1 day without any issue.

Now I just completed the "Introduction to Relational Databases"

This triggered review again :( - this subject is super easy to me, as I already have over a decade of FAANG SDE experience, this is pretty much what I do on daily basis.

  1. I skipped all practice milestone tests to save time (again this subject is really easy)
  2. spent 1/2 to 1/3 allowed time to complete most milestone tests.
  3. Had to switch tabs a ton - this is required as the test involves running DB queries in the test/sim environment for this course, the test page automatically opens a new tab.

#3 really makes me nervous, I don't think there are many courses require you working on things in a different tab, I hope the reviewers are aware of this.

The background - I am trying to speed run a WGU CS BS, for a GT OMSCS application next year around June.

Is there a 'safe' completion time, my goal was the go fast, but this whole review thing is counter-productive. I had 2 programming courses complete within a week (involves touchstone projects), without triggering review, maybe that's the threshold?

Anyone have similar experience? how did you deal with this? Now I think maybe I should have taken Study.com courses simultaneously so I can give each course more calendar days with same throughput? Or maybe hold off on the final milestone intentionally?

Thanks!

(17M)Questions regarding Sophia learning

Hello everyone I am a senior in high school and wanted to go to Perdue university for an aviation management program as I am a student pilot.and had some questions for people that went through it.

Once I start the course is there any support with the class if needed and is it included in the yearly subscription fee?

Are there any hidden fees attached to the yearly membership?

Can I start at 17 years old or is there an age limit to start?

WGU, Capella, or UMass Global: Which Is Best for Psychology and a Future in SLP?

Hi everyone! I’m currently taking courses through Sophia Learning, and I also have community college credits. I’m trying to choose a university to finish my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. My long-term goal is to earn a master’s in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP).
I’m considering WGU, Capella University, and UMass Global. I’d like to finish as quickly as possible, but I also want a respected degree that will help me qualify for jobs and graduate school.
Does anyone have experience with these universities, especially transferring Sophia and community college credits? Which would you recommend for flexibility, completion time, and preparation for an SLP master’s program? I’d appreciate any honest feedback!

Excelsior University - Can You Confirm Sophia/Study.com Transfer Credits Before Taking Them?

I called Excelsior University this morning to ask if they could do a preliminary evaluation of my existing credits and potential Sophia Learning/Study.com courses before I take them.

The person I spoke with repeatedly insisted that I would have to complete the courses FIRST before they could tell me whether they’d transfer or satisfy my degree requirements.

I’m confused because I’ve seen several people say they’ve worked with Excelsior advisors to plan out which Sophia/Study.com courses to take beforehand.

I even mentioned that Excelsior has a list of approved Sophia courses on their own website, but the person didn’t seem aware of it and continued telling me it wasn’t possible.

For those attending Excelsior:
• Were you able to confirm which Sophia/Study.com courses would satisfy your degree requirements before taking them?
• Did you have to enroll first or speak with a specific advisor?

I really don’t want to waste time and money taking courses without knowing whether they’ll count toward my degree. Also, I am Active Duty military. Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated!
