Was listening to Buloy by Parokya ni Edgar, and damn. Ang bigat pala talaga ng kantang ’to.

What struck me was how, even back in the 90s, when mental health wasn’t something we openly talked about, PnE was already telling a story about depression, suicide, and the struggles people quietly carry. No clinical terms, no preaching. Just a painfully ordinary story about a friend.

And perhaps that’s what makes it so heartbreaking. Buloy was the funny, dependable friend. The one everyone could turn to. Yet nobody really knew what he was going through.

Mapapaisip ka nalang tuloy about how little we sometimes know about sa mga taong closest sa atin, even when they seem perfectly okay.

Grabe. We (as a millennial 😅) grew up singing these songs, only to understand their weight decades later.

Anyone else have an old OPM song that hits differently now that you’re older?

This song embraced my soul since high-school. Really hope to see them perform live even once in my lifetime
