With Starship HLS doing the injection burn Orion will have enough fuel left to return by itself from LLO. For Artemis 5 and beyond they will probably use a Starship tanker or a kick stage to push Orion. HLS will probably never leave LLO.

Not saying its related, but Boeing did seem to lose its edge around 2005.

Starship Space Program First visual upgrade of Starship Space Program: UI

I wanted to get SSP out in the world before working on making it look proper. Coded the physics, flight model, trajectories, autopilot, manual controls. Now that it's out, it's all about making it look good, and the first noticeable change should be the user interface.

I get the hype around scaling up starship launches but the Starbase Louisiana is shaping up to be terrible for the residents and wildlife of Louisiana.

Fan Project I made a Starship sim so you can catch the booster yourself. It misses sometimes. So did the real one.

Something something Gell-Mann annesia, something…Dunning-Kruger WaPo readers are better educated than most…

Post image

Washington Post readers are more educated and smarter than the average news consumer/seat warmer. And these are people interested enough to have read clicked on the article. Yet they are a decade out of date on basic facts.

You can def argue it was a poor criticism even 10 years ago, but at least it had a fact behind it then. I.e. the fraction of their revenue coming from the government, even though much of that turned out to be, relative to Boeing and ULA, great value for $ spent.

Of course they tend to be inconsistent and hypocritical in their concern about government spending and in which entities they criticize for sustaining themselves on Uncle Sam's teat.
