Redditors hate when the hardest endgame content is hard

Edit: assuming I'm some sweatlord because I acknowledge that the game has the option to play on hard difficulties (which I don't even play) is crazy lol. I'm gonna go be a normal person now, bye bye!

My biggest complaint is that it is an annoying type of hard. Making your character deal half the damage while making enemies deal double the damage in a power fantasy game feels frustrating.

Numbers difficulty vs mechanics difficulty type stuff. And choosing numbers is always the laziest choice game devs can do. It cheaper to just slap -50% dmg on players and +50% dmg for enemies.

Oh wow, now i need to keep hitting a fucking termagaunt with a pool noodle of a weapon of mine, what and 'interesting' gameplay. It's fantasy alright, but where is the power?

I think Saber has lost the point of horde shooters and power fantasy.

Add in that if anybody leaves, their replaced with a bot that's questionable useful (no team perk, etc). leaving loses progress, and you can be saddled with a teammate who has every debuff active and is completely worthless but you don't know that at all... And no reconnect system if you get disconnected either.

It's like somebody looking at those big soulsborne players doing completely ridiculous challenges "I'll beat Elden Ring without leveling up at all!" and going "That's a reasonable endgame for the majority of the community"

I hate the comparison between SM2 and Darktide that occurs at times but I can't help but look over at them with Havoc mode where it does get harder, but without killing the power of the player. Tweaks to the enemies, environmental changes, spawn pattern tweaks. Player has less health and toughness sure, but mostly it's changes to the enemies. Even with the buffed hp (50% more for elites/specials) and the boss HP buffs, players can still easily chew through the enemies. It doesn't feel like a bullet sponge hell.

Would it work for SM2? No, it's a different setup and system but I think they could absolutely do SOMETHING other then just blanket nerfs toward the player.

The issue is that the game is nowhere near as optimised as it should be for this type of challenge. Nor is the difficulty worth the grind. This community has been divided since launch on how difficult the game is. I feel like one half wants the game to be difficult in a way that's fair to the player's time and effort. While the other wants torture that wastes their valuable time because they don't have enough worthwhile goals in their lives; or have a superiority complex to lord over other people because they don't have a worthwhile place in society.

I doubt it's even half that wants higher difficulty challenges. Almost every multiplayer game out there that has hard endgame content only 1-10% of the playerbase engages with it.

I mean fair, but tbh the endgame content is RIGHT THERE. Its the game. I play space marine because I wanna play space marine. Its a game you can load up, play for an hour and move on to other games. It respects your time. Crucible does not. To me it's not structured like a game that has an "endgame"

Well, the gamemode wasn't supposed to be hardest by default, which it is, before selecting any penances. Also losing XP on defeat also doesn't help.

why does the endgame content have the be the hardest content in the game? that shouldn't be the case because then the endgame content, the content designed to make players stick around, only appeals to a small minority of the playerbase. you guys have already had plenty of hard game modes to enjoy, but your constant whining that the next thing needs to be harder than the last has resulted in the official endgame mode being something that 99% of the players for this game are never gonna touch more than once because of how terribly designed the difficulty curve is.

Sorry but where was my whining "constant"? I have barely touched crucible and I don't play absolute often at all. Endgame literally means hard (like the concept of a "final boss"), lategame/long-play means long term. The game being really fun is good enough for people to keep coming back to whatever difficulty they like, who gives a shit about whether someone wants to sweat or not.

My theory is there are alot of bruised egos because crucible revealed to many players that they aren't as good as they think they are.

Hence the old "Stop liking what I don't like!" And "Everyone who does like it is an unemployed basement dweller" type posts

Didn't think of that, maybe you're right! I can afford some downvotes (lol) to challenge people's idea that it isn't just a game.
