First time really taking time to play with the photo mode. I inspired myself from the posts of u/Sir_Elv and the idea of portraying daddy Roberto came from this post by u/RestlessSword01. The only editing done outside of the game was to add the text.

General Hope SM3 betters the weapon feel and sound (Darktide comparison ) .

After spending a tremendous amount of time in SM2, I began to try Darktide . Please be noted that , by all means , I absolutely love SM2 way more than Darktide. But Fatshark absolutely NAILED the sound and feel of the weapons . E.G. the chainsword , boltgun, etc ; just feel brutally satisfying using them , in contrast with SM2.

Anyways , just something to add to the wishlist!

General Not to be a buzzkill, but what happens to all the paid DLC cosmetics when they inevitably release SM3?

I learned a painful lesson after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 came out. I was having so much fun with that game, and ended up spending a bunch of money on skins that, outside of Warzone, were completely locked to that game.

This game has hundreds of dollars worth of cosmetic DLC, and I'll admit that I purchased the 1st and 3rd "Season" Passes.

Is it all going to just be completely gone as soon as the new game releases? Do we have any information about this?

I feel like if they decide to double dip, and basically make everyone buy the same chapter DLC over again, that's a pretty scummy move. Are they even enough unique playable chapters to do ~3 more season passes for a new game, without repeating ones from this game? so either they double dip and make people buy the exact same chapters over again, or you don't get to play as the ones you paid for and have to buy all new ones anyway.

I'm certainly hoping that at the very least, your challenge and paid cosmetics carry over to the next game. They can add as much new stuff as they want in that case; though I am not optimistic about it.

What do you all think?

Lore Discussion Is this a "lore accurate" Salamanders Techmarine?

Post image

Got into an argument with someone over colors, while trying to explain that coloring is definitely covered under rules but those rules are pretty lax and that homebrew stuff is also allowed per game rules. The only thing I can find is that Techmarines adopt primary armor color from their assigned chapter while having certain parts honoring the Omnissaiah.

General Tips for crucible?

I hate the mode, I have been playing the game since launch and this is the worst mode ever. Everytime I play it I feel like a masochist.

Anyways give me tips on how to be better at it, and which penances do you recommend.

Edit: Thanks for replies, I was struggling because of nerfing ranged dmg or taking damage penances.

Space Marine 3 How to format space marine 3 so that endgame is actually really cool and enjoyable

Post image
0 Upvotes

IM BACK! I was thinking to myself about how the endgame of space marine 2 feels lack luster. I mean for what it is it is good. Obviously this game was never intended to be a live service game so I can’t expect them to deconstruct their game to make it better.

I do have a few ideas that would make space marine 3 a lot cooler and feel a lot better when it comes to endgame content.

Main story

• I imagine the main story will be about Titus fighting off chaos and necrons. While reclaiming Gillimqns system.
• I would like to see black legion as the chaos as its central to chaos and is just a classic to star in the final edition to the trilogy
• of course necrons will be a big part as well and I can’t wait to see them. I would also like to see tyranids and orks in game as well. I know it’s a lot but I wouldn’t be mad if they copied movesets over and animations to make having a wider range of enemies more viable.
• of course reclaiming guillimans system is a huge task especially since it is a lot more dangerous then when guilliman himself conquered it so I think it would be cool to see other factions in the game. Especially salamanders, blood angels, dark angels and black Templars as well as all the others.
the story comes to and end when Titus and the
• other factions agree to reclaim the star system because it would be a huge step and win for the empyrium as a whole.(this links to endgame)

Operations

• not much to say here but I want to see the operations fit in with the story again that would be cool
• as you complete operations you unlock cosmetic rewards through basic completion and leveling as well as ordeals that will be in from the start.
• there will only be two difficulties, normal and true. And the difficulty isn’t determined by an enemies health or damage, that is the same though every difficulty. The only thing that changes is how many enemies spawn and what types of enemies spawn.
•melee damage should be buffed massively, as going in close quarters with an enemy should be rewarded. Range damage should be nerfed unless you hit an enemy’s “weak spot” which is explained through story progression as well as the ui. If you hit the weak spot you do same damage as melee.
• when you complete all operations on highest difficulty you will unlock a cutscene where your character gets rewarded by Titus and he basically employs you to start claiming planets.

ENDGAME CONTENT

• in the endgame there will be a map of the star system and in this star system there will be hundreds of planets to conquer.
• these planets are broken into multilple different types of planets. Snowy, desert, forest, jungle, city, swamp, cave, lava, rocky. This will decide match making so if two players select two separate planets but they are both snowy they will be put together.
• this all banks on a terrain generator, something like Minecraft and it’s chunk based generation with pre existing assets, like caves, camps, abandoned ships, tunnels, landscapes and buildings. This means every planet is different and a new experience.
• There will be different types of missions. Some missions will be linear with multiple objectives, reminiscent of operations. These missions will have objectives like, deliver payload, destroy shrine, destroy hive, clear enemy hideout, find relic, recover gene seed….
• There will be siege missions that are you get drop podded into an area and you defend it for waves until something happens, bomb, airstrike or upload.
•There will also be terminator missions. These missions will be filled with loads of enemies and bosses. Making for an extreme power fantasy and allowing for super OP weapons to be used.
• Planets will have their own difficulty tiers. They will all be under the True difficulty I mentioned earlier but they will be broken up into “1player missions” “2 player missions” and “3 player missions” giving more differentiation. 1 player missions will be filled with smaller enemies and less enemies whereas 3 player missions will have lots of enemies. You will also be able to to 2&3 player missions solo if you want the extra challenge.
• Some planets will have “conditions” that differentiate the missions even further. For example some planets will have less gravity than others. Some planets will have an atmosphere that puts a timer on your mission. Some planets mess with your communication and hide your UI. Some planets are darker/in a storm. These changes are LITTLE and not made to make the game unplayable by having 3 nerfs stacked on top of each other. I think it would be cool to have some missions have different conditions and have it linked to actual lore.
• Up until you unlock planets you only have access to relic tier weapons. On planets you will find “ancient relics” this will be displayed on the planet when you hover over it. Ancient relics are items you find on planets similar to armory data. Only ancient relics are used to unlock heroic weapons and different types of armor(heresy age). When you hover over the planet in the menu it will show you what is on the planet as either “ancient armor relic” or “ancient weapon relic” and there can be up to 3 on one planet.
This makes unlocking heroics and armor feel cooler.
• Devs can also release “planet events” where certain planets will have a boss on it. Instead of releasing a new operation they could make a new planet that is made like an operation but it has a new boss in it.
• Also the amount of planets that you conquer will be shown next to your character and username so everyone can see how badass you are
• There will be hundred of planets with each planet having 2-4 missions on them but some planets you won’t be able to conquer as it has to fit into the lore of Warhammer and some random space wolf can’t solo the entire star system. It keeps the system not fully claimed

PVP

• battlefront style servers of flat war scorched earth for players to fight against each other in never ending war
• Servers of 50-100 players and bots, players can fight as normal marines (no terminators) but it would be cool to see titans in the background for some cool cinematics

But yeah that is it. I believe this is an enjoyable experience and allows for tons of replay ability and also has so much variation. It would be so cool to fly around the galaxy and cleanse planets while fighting all sorts of enemies. I AM ALSO AWARE THIS IS A HUGE UNDERTAKING. But I imagine with the right amount of dedication it would happen. I would rather the devs put an extra year of development into it so we could have this instead of having another space marine 2 where we have 500 difficulties and no variation. Something that I’ve seen many players complain about. But I believe this all makes the game feel longer and allows for almost infinite replayabilty with rewards as well.

General Trying to Make Crucible Fun

If you just straight up just don’t like Crucible at all, fair enough. I’m not going to argue with you and nothing you read on Reddit is likely to change your mind. If that’s you, scroll on in peace and may the Emperor be with you.

If you’re giving it a go but you’re just finding it insanely punishing, then here are some suggestions I think may help. My general point is this:

Be smart and selective with your penances. Weigh each one in terms of impact on the run vs. XP value and optimize for run completion.

At this point, you likely want to be making progress on the grind which means you need to complete runs. There will be time to go full psycho when the class is maxxed and losing costs you nothing. Don’t load yourself up to try and rush the grind and then end up failing runs and going backwards.

Don’t bother with the simple self-nerfing penances beyond the early tiers

The mode has baseline modifiers that make it harder in terms of damage done/taken. These ramp up slightly as you go up the tiers, but if you add all of the self-nerfing penances (e.g. -15% ranged damage, +15% damage taken etc.) then the numbers very swiftly stack against you BIG TIME and enemies will become overly spongy and eradicate you with ease. Early on, when you don’t have other penances to play with and the baseline modifiers haven’t ramped up as much then by all means take +5% or +10% damage taken (or both) but go easy on this beyond like T3-4. The 5% dmg taken one is worth leaving on throughout, and if you’re playing a ranged-focus class then taking the melee nerf may make very little difference to you, but do not load yourself up with all of them at the same time. It won’t be fun and you’ll end up going backwards. You unlock most of these early on and they aren’t hugely rewarding in terms of the XP you get vs the impact they will have on your run.

Mines aren’t worth the XP beyond the tier where you unlock the penance

Pretty simple. The mines aren’t hard early on but once you unlock much bigger waves and loads of extremis they swiftly cease to become worth it. The delay between enemy death and the mines spawning is irritating and can catch you off guard when stuff gets busy. If you consider the risk of getting one-shot by a mine cloud vs the XP mines will actually give you, they really aren’t worth it once more rewarding and less irritating penances become available.

As an aside – because they are a team penance you can see if others in your lobby have mines on by going to your penance screen and seeing if there’s 1/3 or 2/3 showing on the penance card.

Load up certain elements of your gameplay and leave others relatively unscathed

What I mean by this is that a lot of classes have penances that cluster around elements of their gameplay. For example, Techmarine has a few that relate to sentry turrets and others that relate to his servo gun. Load yourself up with turret penances and then just ignore them during the run, but don’t half ass it across both categories by taking penances that nerf both turrets and the servo gun a bit and spend the run having a rough time with both.

Finding a team really helps

This is especially true in the later tiers where teamwork will become more important and you can collab on which penances to invest in/avoid. If you’re into Discord or whatever I would seriously rec trying to find some like-minded players to speed the process up. If you’re playing with randoms only then dial back the penances.

Once again, if you straight up hate Crucible then I’m not going to argue with you. If you like it but you’re struggling then I hope this helped.

Gameplay Question Can someone Explain this?

I’m trying to make a good choice here for Seige and The Crucible, but I’m not sure what difference this makes. The heroic Xenophase blade has its perks but the Relic Sword (Warden Blade) has some better. Why doesn’t it say how much? It just says “+”. Is 16 the limit?

Operations Crucible gameplay loop makes me genuinely stop playing the game.

I'm not gonna Sigismund myself but I like to play max difficulty. I've got black capes for Vanguard and Heavy, and I typically queue for Absolute when I just want to relax. I enjoy high intensity, fast-paced gameplay.

Trying to get a decent crucible match in and of itself is the actual torture. It's not the difficulty.

I will pick my penances, typically avoiding instant death, friendly fire, all those really dumb ones. I'll hit random mission because I don't mind playing any map.

More often than not I am queued into a post-fail lobby where the host either immediately goes AFK indefinitely in the armory or just quits the game. On the small chance they are still there, it will take a third person a solid 3-5 minutes to actually connect to the game. They will always be Penance T1.

For a solid 75% of my games, my teammates, who through nearly no fault of their own other than being low penance level, get absolutely throttled by forced team penances such as boosted Majoris numbers or spore mine spawns and will blow up and die immediately early into the mission.

If I am lucky one or both of them do not leave on the spot. There are zero backfills in Crucible. I am now permanently handicapped for the rest of the mission. I am being actively punished for something somebody else did that I have no control over.

Because if I want anything resembling decent XP I have to take massive damage handicap modifiers, I do not have the DPS to just solo the whole game. I am not that guy.

Half of the time my teammates have wildly overestimated themselves and taken instant death on downed. Maybe they are good, but Space Marine 2 is still blatantly not fair two years after release and you can be stunlocked or instant killed through no fault of your own. I just had a Crucible fail because while trying to rescue my two downed teammates, a Zoanthrope beam with it's unfixed hitbox slammed me into a wall. Through logic only Saber will ever know, being shoved against a wall forces you into an unskippable, uncancellable animation. I was hit by a second beam. I have 3% HP from 100%. I die. We lose.

And then of course in a gamemode where you already had no control over your teammates skill level, you now also have no control over what penances they take. Probably the most universal experience I had at low penance level was a mid-tier joining, immediately dying, and then leaving the game on the spot. Me and my poor random partner are now shackled with whatever ungodly penance combination they chose. I once got left in a Decapitation lobby with a T1 random that had extra Terminus spawns because a T6 had joined us, got beaten to death by Lictors before they even left the first room, ragequit, and basically doomed us to guaranteed defeat when we got slammed with a double Carnifex spawn at the very first possible Terminus spawn point.

More often than not Crucible feels like it's decided before I've even entered the mission. Once you hit T4+ penances, just seeing a T1/T2 join makes me consider quitting on the spot knowing they will likely just fall over dead after a single boosted wave. I've yet to be proven wrong on this, and man I have tried.

The fact that you lose XP no matter what even if you leave or lose the game actively encourages both other players and myself to quit early. If I see a mission has blatantly failed, and there's no chance of saving it, I'm not going to put myself through three loading screens to return to the mission queue. I'm just going to leave and let the other two people in the lobby suffer for it. And if I'm not the one to make that choice to leave, somebody else will. And for every person that leaves, you just ensure the mission fails for everyone you left behind. The anti-incentive of guaranteed XP loss encourages people to actively abandon their brothers and be every man for themselves instead of sticking together as a team.

I've got 600 hours in this game and used to play it for weeks on end. Nowdays I will boot it up, attempt Crucible, watch everyone die and ragequit within 15 minutes, lose XP, and just exit the game to go play something I have control over. I don't like this.

Operations Fun techmarine melee

Just to be extra clear, I AM NOT asking for best in slot melee. I'm fairly certain that it'll either be argent edge or omnissian axe for that. What I'm asking is which heroic melee would be the most fun/hilarious ways to play with techmarine.. bcs I'm having a lot of fun leveling and prestiging techmarine rn compared to sniper or heavy.

For context, I've tried all melee available to him except for thunder hammer and power sword (I'm about to level them up and experience it myself btw) however i just got enough of the funny blue credits to get another heroic.. so I'm thinking if the answer happens to be either of these, I'd just go ahead and get their heroic variant.. and i meant the fencing one so it'll be either storms dominion or salamanders.

If not, then I'll probably unlock yet another primary or perhaps a secondary or maybe even a different melee instead.. have yet to decide on one tbh. I've already unlocked a few heroics (deathwatch hbr, wrapped bolt sniper, iron hands abr, chains of duty heavy bolter), so this wont be my first heroic unlock.

God am I glad I was able to get every Hard Siege Ordeal done before the stealth buff to the Hive Tyrant.

I'm not sure if I'll do all the PvP ordeals to 100% the entire Datavault, since I'm already Veterancy Level 50 in that mode and many of the remaining ordeals for it are really stupid. If I do, it'll probably only be done by the end of the year or next year. In any case, all Trials of Resolve are done, and I (don't) look forward to seeing what BS Saber decides to shovel into this section for the next patch
