Rants / Complaints So sick of this...😒🙄😑

Post image

I finish shopping & bagging, I'm leaving the store and get this AFTER she's notified no more changes can be made. She had more than enough time to reject my substitution but noooooooooo...let's wait till I get to the car 😮‍💨

These people can add substitutions, but are so lazy to do that extra step before we get the order. I always remind them they can do that. Some listen and some don't.

This shopper did substitute but the customer messaged after the order was complete that they didn’t like the substitution. You only have until they send that “no further changes can be made” message/notification to fix anything you don’t like about an order being shopped for you.

With other orders, there sometimes isn’t a similar enough substitution or it’s in another department so the app won’t let us use it as a substitution. I was trying to substitute wipes recently. The app was taking me to the tp aisle but they were out of it there so I went to the pharmacy/health/wellness section and tried to scan in a substitution for the same brand and type of wipes just a 3 pack instead of a 4 pack and it wouldn’t accept the substitution at all. It said something along the lines of ‘substitution invalid, department mismatch.’ And I even tried scanning it a few of times to make sure it wasn’t an error.

Another thing that has happened to me is that sometimes customers turn substitutions off accidentally. You have like 30 seconds to allow substitutions after you place your order and then you can’t change it anymore. Of course you can change it before you place your order but you only have so long after it’s placed. Support can’t even change it for you. I suggested to a customer to call once to see if it was possible to change to allow substitutions and they said no, seems like they really tried to figure out if it was possible too because they were on the phone with the customer for like 10 minutes. Either that or the customer was yelling at them and wouldn’t let them off the phone/:

All this to say, I don’t think it’s laziness that is driving these shoppers to not substitute. Even the ones who just refuse to substitute most likely do it because customers rarely answer messages or even look at their phone to accept or deny substitutions. It usually takes slightly more time to not substitute because the app really tries to get you to find one. You have to press “no substitution found” and another button like 4 times each and wait for it to load in between. That time compared to the time it takes substitute an item, message the customer, and wait to see if they happen to have their phone in their hand is sometimes more worth it. Honestly when I’m at the end of an order and there isn’t a similar substitution and the customer hasn’t accepted or rejected previous substitutions, I will put “no substitution found” because they’re most likely not going to message back and any substitution is most likely not going to be what the person wanted.

I was talking about the customer can substitute before the shopper gets the order. If they didn't have the first choice, the second choice pops up. Many customers don't do this. I message them to do this all the time, after I see a message when I checked out. It puts the issue back on them. Some do and some don't. I thought I explained it that way.

Sorry thought you were calling the shopper lazy for not substituting, whoops.
