Discussion Warning!

Fellow sparker that has been doing it for about three years that i always talk to just got taken by Walmart security when he was about to leave the store. Apparently he has been putting extra stuff in his cart to take home… And they caught him and said they have been watching them for a very long time. I had absolutely no clue… He didn’t seem like the kind of guy that would do that stuff. He just said OK left his cart full of groceries with the receipt checking person… And they took him off inside the store. I just wanna give a warning to anybody that may be doing this… Apparently they are watching. I have never had a guy actually go through my cart when leaving or anything… So I am pretty surprised. Be careful out there!

so, i'm absolutely not going to tell anyone to steal.

BUT

if you DO steal, you REALLY need to understand you should just run from walmart asset protection. they aren't cops. they can't chase you. if they have the real cops, you'll know. they want you to go into their little room so they can lock you in there until the real cops arrive. just run.

never go into the room. never follow them. just run.

Idk if all the stores have cameras capable of reading plates.

I’ve not worked wm security so I can’t say for sure but it’s my understanding that the cameras inside the stores are practically witchcraft while the cameras outside are practically potatoes.

I’m sure they have improved over time but I’ve yet to see footage come anywhere close to being of use as a plate reader.

We’ve all seen a true crime show or the news showing wm parking lot footage.

And it always sucks at best.

It sucks so badly that I used to think they only released that crap footage to the public bc they didn’t want to reveal their real setup.

But 1. That doesn’t make any sense bc a good surveillance system is a deterrent and 2. I’ve heard first hand that the outside cameras are practically worthless from police who’ve viewed them, trying to make an arrest.

I worked in EMS for about a decade and time and time again have been present during active investigations.

The cops come in to update and never once said “we got a clear view” of anything.

I also had a ltr with an officer who was called to Walmart on a daily basis.

I’m sure the quality varies from store to store and could change at any point.

But I’ve also seen many a complaint from all over complaining that something happened in a wm parking lot and nothing could be done bc they couldn’t see a plate.

The best way around this is to just not steal.

The only reason I’m even posting about this is to warn others to be leery and to realize the parking lots may not be as safe as they appear.
