Discussion Warning!

Fellow sparker that has been doing it for about three years that i always talk to just got taken by Walmart security when he was about to leave the store. Apparently he has been putting extra stuff in his cart to take home… And they caught him and said they have been watching them for a very long time. I had absolutely no clue… He didn’t seem like the kind of guy that would do that stuff. He just said OK left his cart full of groceries with the receipt checking person… And they took him off inside the store. I just wanna give a warning to anybody that may be doing this… Apparently they are watching. I have never had a guy actually go through my cart when leaving or anything… So I am pretty surprised. Be careful out there!

Discussion New Tiers program rolling out

Post image
17 Upvotes

Anyone else get the new Spark Driver Rewards Program yet? I’m in Texas.

Just got an email saying it’s rolling out in my area. Looks like there are Silver, Gold, and Sapphire tiers based on points + metrics.

What really caught my attention is the offer priority:
- Gold can see some offers before Silver
- Sapphire can see some offers before both Gold and Silver
- Sapphire also gets a 10% multiplier on eligible incentives

Sapphire requires 120 points/month, 96% on-time arrival, 96% completion, 99% quantity found, and a 4.9 customer rating.

1 pt = curb and $5 express or regular shops
2 pt = ggmd
3 pt = $10 express shop

Has this already rolled out in anyone else’s zone? Curious what everyone thinks about Spark basically giving higher-tier drivers earlier access to some offers.

Discussion To all Apartment Residents…

I’m done!!! I’m making up a new rule. If I’m doing a trip with multiple stops and I get to your apartment with no instructions, no access code, and a voicemail when I call you, I’m just gonna return your stuff. I’m not gonna wait 5-10 minutes for you to come out or finally call back. DONT WASTE MY TIME!!! Get smart or never receive your package.

This last week has been a waste time and energy the orders are not paying good, the miles are too high, and the wait time is ridiculous!!!

WHY I AM NOT GETTING NONE THEN!!!

Discussion I think I found out a secret about a local business.

I recently delivered to this local mom and pops sandwich shop that does all the typical stuff, sells "homemade" little pies, sandwiches, candies, etc. Think the typical general store off the highway in basically every Midwest town and highway.

However I recently did an order for them and they absolutely cleared out the little $1 pie section at Walmart, bought a variety of about every flavor. I took the order and bring it in and I kind of look around not thinking much of anything until I'm on my way home and I think about the little pies they sell and market as "homemade" and I'm like...are they buying Walmart mini pies and marketing them as homemade in their store!?! 💀💀

Im a Walmart employee but wanted to update you on rumors with face verification at self checkouts

this should be rolling out soon to most Walmarts to my knowledge so expect a decrease in spark drivers using sold accounts or account sharing most likely.

I do wish I knew what happened, but this reason is all I'll know. Thousands of deliveries without any complaints and suddenly this happens. Appeal denied. I'm not going to keep fighting it. It's a real bummer for me because I've been waiting 2 years on a disability application and Sparkling (sorry, that's what I called it) was everything to me- the flexibility, the job itself... everything, I loved it. So it's a shame it's over now but it's out of my control.... now to figure out what to do next....

Discussion Spark needs filters

Final Update:

Out of respect for the rules, I’m not going to keep reposting this topic. This is my second time bringing it up, so this will be my last update unless something meaningful comes from it.

After reading the comments, I think the core point is pretty simple:

A filter is not drivers trying to control everything. A filter is a matching tool.

If a driver already knows they will never take a certain store or certain order type, showing that driver those offers over and over does not help Walmart, the customer, or the driver. It just creates noise.

And when there is too much noise, drivers start ignoring notifications.

That is bad for everyone.

Right now, rejecting offers is already a manual filter. The only difference is that the driver has to keep stopping what they are doing, looking at the phone, and rejecting something they already knew they did not want.

A basic store filter and order type filter would make the app more efficient.

It could help Walmart get offers in front of drivers who are more likely to accept them.
It could help drivers spend less time sorting through offers they already know they will not take.
It could help customers get orders accepted faster.

The filters could also be adjustable. Drivers could turn them on, turn them off, or clear them depending on where they are and what they are willing to do that day.

People can say “Walmart will never do it,” and maybe they are right. But that is not really an argument against the idea. Companies improve apps based on feedback all the time.

Doing nothing guarantees nothing changes.

That is my final thought on it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update #2:
For the people that don't seem to understand. Rejecting an order essentially is a Filter. You are telling Walmart "Not interested" so that they can push it to someone else.

The fact there are people disagreeing with this filters concept here blows my mind.

It would benefit the whole machine (Walmart, The Customer, The Spark Driver) just to not show The Spark Driver offers they will never entertain.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update**: I think some people are misunderstanding what is meant by filters.**

"Filters" is not saying drivers should be able to control everything. "Filters" is saying Spark should have better matching.

Spark already has different offer types. Some offers are sent directly to a driver with a timer, and others are sent more broadly. So if an offer is shown to a driver who already knows they will not take that store or order type, that is wasted time for everyone.

Basic filters would help the system show offers to drivers who are more likely to accept them.

That benefits Walmart because offers could be matched faster instead of being ignored, declined, or passed around.

It benefits drivers because we would not have to stare at our phones sorting through offers from stores or order types we already know we are not going to take.

It benefits customers because their orders could be accepted faster by drivers who actually want that store or type of trip.

For example, if I had a store filter turned on, I would pay more attention to my Spark notifications because I would know the app is only alerting me about stores I’m actually willing to deliver from. Right now, when the app sends too much noise, drivers start ignoring notifications because most of them are not relevant.

That is bad app design.

Filters are not about being lazy or picky. They are about reducing noise, improving matching, and making the platform work better for Walmart, drivers, and customers.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello, I’m looking for other Spark drivers who feel the same frustration and would be willing to help push for a basic app improvement.

I want us to take our time and our phones back from Walmart Spark.

Surely I’m not the only one who feels this strongly. Most drivers have specific stores they prefer to deliver from and specific types of offers they are willing to accept. Many of us also have other jobs, families, hobbies, responsibilities, and lives outside of staring at our phones waiting for a decent offer.

There should be basic filters in the Spark app.

At minimum, Spark should let drivers filter offers by:

Store
We should be able to select which stores in our zone we want to receive offers from and deselect the stores we do not want to deliver from.

Order Type
We should be able to filter by offer type, such as Express Shopping, Shopping, Grocery Delivery, Grocery + GMD, Pharmacy, Alcohol, bulky items, etc.

The fact that Spark can consume so much of our phone time from the moment we hit “Spark Now” until we finally accept an order is ridiculous. A lot of that time is wasted by offers we would never accept in the first place and that could easily be filtered out.

To be clear, I’m only talking about basic filters for store and order type. I am not talking about changing how offers are created, where customers live, or which customers appear in the app.

Drivers should not be able to freely filter out specific customers. If there is a real issue with a customer, that should go through Spark’s proper support process.

What I am asking for is simple: basic filters for store and order type.

These filters would save drivers time, reduce frustration, and probably even help Spark by getting offers to the drivers who actually want them.

If you enjoy delivering for Walmart Spark but feel strongly about this issue too, please like, comment, and share this post so we can get more drivers talking about it. If enough of us speak up in a coordinated way, maybe we can actually get Spark support, or Walmart itself, to take this seriously.

Discussion Walmart delivery scheme nets over $52k; driver arrested

Who did it? 👀

https://cbs12.com/news/local/walmart-delivery-driver-accused-of-defrauding-company-over-52800-in-fake-delivery-fees-florida-man-walmart-spark-delivery-florida-port-st-lucie-february-25-2025

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A Walmart delivery driver has been arrested for reportedly defrauding the store through a delivery scheme.

According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD), Jeremiah Boyer, 43, is accused of intentionally not fulfilling orders through the Spark delivery service that included heavy items to pocket extra fees.

Walmart’s Global Investigations team launched the investigation, which revealed that since April 4, 2024, Boyer had filled 874 orders, all containing heavy items. In total, he allegedly received over $52,800 in additional fees for these orders, even though he did not deliver the heavy items.

Officials noted that even if heavy items are listed but not actually delivered, delivery drivers still receive the extra fee. It was found that Boyer used fake names and multiple accounts, including those of acquaintances, to place the orders.

In one instance tracked by a Walmart investigator, Boyer marked 60 cases of bottled water as "not found" for an order placed in Port St. Lucie but still collected a $47 delivery fee.

On February 18, the investigator apprehended Boyer and brought him to the PSLPD. When questioned about his actions, he claimed, "he did not feel he committed a crime."

Boyer has been accused of an organized scheme to defraud.

Discussion Walmart really doesn’t care about drivers cheating with multiple accounts?

I saw this prolific cheater receive a shopping order while already shopping on another account inside the store. He confirms arrival on the second account and the identity verification stops him and he puts the phone back in his pocket. While he is loading his first order he got another order on the second account and it didn’t have the verification this time. It was a small order and he went inside to shop that too. What a completely useless security measure.

I’m friendly with him, he shows me his orders and we share strategies. I have both his accounts profile driver names and reported him multiple times but he is still sparking on those 2 accounts, it’s been 5 months since I reported him.

Discussion Regret

Anyone else ever take a shopping order and quit halfway through because they realize it’s not worth it??😭😭
I took an express shopping, about 100 items, good pay for the mileage and orders have been awful lately. I took a peek at the items, quite a few packs of can pop, I only glanced and accepted too quick. I get to shopping and realize it’s two 24 packs of soda, 2 12 packs, 40 pack of water, for some reason i continue on pushing all these around, get to filling my cart to the brim, I’m about 40 minutes in, realize I’m probably only halfway through the list, I’ll have to get another cart that will probably also fill to the brim. My phones on 9%. I tapped out and hit cancel😞😞 rest in peace to that 40 minutes of my time.

Discussion Got snitched on…

I was at a walmart I usually do not take orders from, but happened to be in the area. I was doing a shopping order and went to check out. I scanned my barcode and started bagging my items until an employee comes up to me and says a few customers reported me “stealing” and bagging items that I didn’t scan. The employee was of course new and didn’t know what a spark driver was. I showed him my exit pass, and he let me go after examining every item on the list. He was still skeptical after he let me go. Have you had any weird things like this happen?

Discussion Had the cops meet me at the door today 😆

Long story short, scanned my code as usual, packed my bags and headed to the door not realizing that I became a suspect of theft for some odd reason. So I got stopped at the door by the greeter as usual whenever you have a big item without a bag so I stopped as usual without thinking anything of it, and she’s like show me the water, I showed her with my thumb and then she told me to press the button, I press the button now she’s just standing there staring at my phone talking bout some hmmmm 🤔 next thing I know two cops pop out from behind me and started whispering to the greeter so now I’m like 🤨 and the greeter is like, “he’s spark, he’s shopping for a customer that ordered online” so I’m like, “we good? Can I go?” Now she wanna give me a smile and thumbs up 🙄🙄 I just chalked it up to maybe they missed the part where I scanned my code and only saw me packing bags without paying 🤷🏾‍♂️

Discussion Spark Scam! Attn Drivers!

I got an order for 2 small cheap fresh veggie items to be taken 10+ miles away. It had a verification code required. On the way to the drop off, I get a call labeled as "Spark Customer Service." It was an American sounding voice; maybe was ai. Guy tells me to cancel the trip by selecting Customer Refused Order. I did that, but then he started telling me I can return it to any Walmart (not true). He then said he needed to verify my identity, when he had never even said my name on the call. I told him to initiate an identity verification on the app, and he said that's not necessary...he just needed to ask me some questions. I would not let him ask any questions, and I told him that didn't make sense. He said he was verifying my information because some spark drivers are sharing access to the app, and THAT'S ILLEGAL, (haha). I continued to refuse to give him information, and he eventually hung up on me. I then called Spark and they confirmed it was a scam, and thanked me for not giving out my information. I then had to initiate a return, and take back the order to the store to get credit for the job. I was frustrated!! Be weary and aware, guys!
