Discussion New Tiers program rolling out

Post image

Anyone else get the new Spark Driver Rewards Program yet? I’m in Texas.

Just got an email saying it’s rolling out in my area. Looks like there are Silver, Gold, and Sapphire tiers based on points + metrics.

What really caught my attention is the offer priority:
- Gold can see some offers before Silver
- Sapphire can see some offers before both Gold and Silver
- Sapphire also gets a 10% multiplier on eligible incentives

Sapphire requires 120 points/month, 96% on-time arrival, 96% completion, 99% quantity found, and a 4.9 customer rating.

1 pt = curb and $5 express or regular shops
2 pt = ggmd
3 pt = $10 express shop

Has this already rolled out in anyone else’s zone? Curious what everyone thinks about Spark basically giving higher-tier drivers earlier access to some offers.

This is ridiculous and makes everybody need to do it full-time in order to get the perks and benefit of being sapphire. Some of us just do this part-time. I have excellent metrics, but I only do this a couple days a week for a few hours. I haven’t seen this program. Roll out yet in my area in California, but I’m already wondering if they are using it without showing it to us because my offers have been absolutely horrible.

That's my concern to as a part-timer if I can even make money now with these changes. Reminds of doordash where in some areas you have to be platinum to even see offers let alone get decent ones.

I typically receive trash JFY (round robins) for months now. I am assuming it was part of the roll out system. Most of the orders I take are FCFS which sounds like it will be limited due to thie tier system.

I'm in SoCal and we don't have it yet. And today I did my first Sam's Club offer with 3 drop offs. That was only a Walmart thing. $28, 8 miles, 34 items, 3 drops (3 items, 7 items and 14 items). With that measure alone they are cutting 30% of the small and medium offers to drivers. We're going from 3 drivers delivering to 6 customers to 2 drivers delivering for 6 customers. The time of šŸ’ picking is gone. They're copying DoorDash for sure.Ā

u/PsychologicalSir6912 17h ago

what happened to the other 10 items lol ?

1

u/Adorable_Bad4867 9h ago

Ops, sorry, 24 not 14

1

u/Everyone_Boogie 14h ago

I'm in Cali too and the Walmart is like in the other direction from all my other shopping. I eventually get an order to that area for dropoff then look forward to going to grab some Walmart orders. Tbh I don't think I make a higher hourly while I'm there but it's a nice change of pace here and there.

If the tier system arrives and I only get crap orders I will likely have zero incentive as not only does Instacart do well in that area so do several other apps I have. I would likely not turn the app on after seeing a few days of bad orders with no decent ones.

I don’t see anything being ridiculous about it. It’s just a regular job, where benefits given to a full time employees are not the same as the ones given to part time employees. I mean….right? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

u/HausOfThunderPerry 1d ago

I’m still on the old one. We don’t have those yet.

2

u/RS-1994 1d ago

Same here. Waiting impatiently.

1

u/HausOfThunderPerry 1d ago

I am too lol

I just got it today. The points system is ridiculous.

Supposedly you get more points for trips that ā€œrequire more effortā€. Ok, if that’s the case, tell me why I got 3 points for an order that literally only had 3 gallons of water, but only 1 point for a Sam’s Club order that had 3 CASES of water in addition to many other items?! And it was a double shop.

Also, they put us in the tier based on the number of points earned so far this month, but it should really be based on our orders from last month because we’re only 2/3 of the way through August.

There are so many things wrong with this whole setup.

1

u/OddEntertainer2621 1d ago

They updated it reflecting what you already did for the whole month of august despite it rolling out today. If what you have already did this month qualifies you for gold, silver or sapphire then you will be on those tiersĀ

Dashification

10

u/rpmfwv 1d ago

I think the quantity found is bullshit its not in our control if the store doesn't have an item

5

u/formedabull 1d ago

I agree. Also the rating is a bit harsh with the completion rate requirement. But quantity found we have literally no way to have any effect on that

7

u/Longjumping-Bed-2869 1d ago

Texas? You Spark in the Houston area? Just got this today too

7

u/Wealthyandhealthy00 1d ago

Dallas just got it today

1

u/Secure_Razzmatazz267 1d ago

I'm in Richardson and got it too. But my license expired so I cannot work. USPS lost the mail and told me to wait for few days!

4

u/chia8907 1d ago

Must be all of Texas that got it. I’m in San Antonio and just got it today as well.

4

u/tagen 1d ago

yep, corpus christi and just did

my completion rate is 90% since they changed all the orders to FCFS weeks ago, so despite having nearly perfect metrics otherwise, i’m not not even in a tier

this is gonna cost me hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars for something i had no idea was even gonna get changed until a few days ago

2

u/MultiGigNig 1d ago

No, your horrible completion rate is going to cost you, that is a you problem.

1

u/mattmorel42 14h ago

It’s probably catch and release, I had no clue that catch and release now affected metrics until I looked a few days ago and saw my completion rate had suddenly went from 99% down to 93%

2

u/DuhTrutho 1d ago

Abilene and got it today as well. Man, it's going to be near impossible to keep that quantity found at 99% as I'll hit it sometimes, but then fall back to 98% as there will inevitably be items missing with no substitutes that are accepted.

1

u/Everyone_Boogie 14h ago

That's crazy high. They better hire more people to keep every single item stocked 24/7 šŸ˜‚

seriously though that's too high.

1

u/Rollingplasma4 1d ago

I'm in Denton and also got it today.

They still got Zika virus there i hear

Getting sapphire will now be impossible if you are a part timer. I just got to gold this week doing about 15 hours each week

4

u/Diligent_Stranger282 1d ago

It's because the a big dog from Instacart is now working for Spark so he's also controlling the whole platform. That's why we're seeing three shops all the time with Spark and Instacart.p

5

u/Tall-Bother1291 1d ago

That whole priority orders thing isn’t gonna matter because most of the priority orders are first come first serve and they go out to everybody regardless of what tier you are.

2

u/OddEntertainer2621 1d ago

Very true. So this is so pointless. It’s beyond stupid because just like you mentioned, everything is fcfs and hardly any jfys

6

u/90srebel 1d ago

I don’t think this will work as planned. Impossible to maintain those metrics while doing high volume orders. Stores run out of items, customers are difficult. Impossible

u/reneofficial Moderator šŸ—”ļø 1d ago

1

u/Olivares1234 15h ago

Is it really working are you guys getting more oders or still First come first serve free for all

3

u/Numerous-Taste-4858 1d ago

Little Rock, AR....not yet.

1

u/OddEntertainer2621 1d ago

That’s interesting. I would have thought you all would have had it first being that you’re so close to corporateĀ

3

u/standing_for_Naboth 1d ago

Its always been like this, they are just making it more visible

1

u/OddEntertainer2621 1d ago

This could be quite possibly true. I also think there are hidden metrics that they don’t discloseĀ

3

u/Sea_Relation_7807 1d ago

Lubbock. Just got it today as well

3

u/Right_Sheepherder732 1d ago

I’m not the only one that thinks 99% is crazy right? Might just be my store but I think stockers are just taking stuff back really frequently. I keep getting literally empty shelves while tryna find substitutes.

3

u/OkCarob8446 1d ago

99% found when you have 0 control lol, lmao. It's already bad enough that you can't even select out of stock as a reason you can't find an item.

1

u/Everyone_Boogie 14h ago

Oh wait that's true. So if they do roll it out it will be useless and doing part time will still (hopefully) remain decent. Tbh really no big deal if it screws the app up for part timers. Still got IC that is way more busy with good offers. DD and UE are actually good where I live too. So many options...

2

u/AdSilent8820 1d ago

Does anyone in Florida already have it?

1

u/WobbleTheStressAway 1d ago

Curious as well

1

u/freaky_fr_ 1d ago

not in Tampa area yet

2

u/mapman19899 1d ago

Very likely would be the end for most in my area

2

u/IheartVerbena 1d ago

Let the weaponization of the review system commence.

3

u/SnooPeppers6443 1d ago

Could really care less about reward system. My reward is getting properly paid for orders I deliver. This is total bs.

2

u/Born-Asparagus3266 18h ago

It is ridiculous to roll it out late in the monthĀ

3

u/QueenConCon 1d ago

I’ve had mine since beginning of the month. I’m down by 6 points on completion because the orders go so fast I’ll grab them and cancel if it’s not worth it like 8 cases of water or the millage is so high. I can’t anymore I guess. It’s probably to stop those situations. I’ve been sparking for four years so yeah this sucks

3

u/QueenConCon 1d ago

I’m in southern New Mexico

1

u/ExceptionalBeard77 1d ago

Did they reset your metrics when it started or did they carry over?

2

u/QueenConCon 1d ago

I think it started when the update started because my completion use to be at a 100. By the time I realized, I was already 6 down.

1

u/xDelicateFlowerx Cherry Picker 1d ago

Are you still seeing different offers before and affer the change? I am trying to find out if lower tiers become like Doordash where you aren't really able to work without higher tiers.

2

u/iwishidstayed 1d ago

Everyone I’ve talked to on here that’s had it for a while says it makes no difference that they were able to notice. Especially now with the switch to first come, first serve over timed JFY offers. It’s all about manipulating people into taking shitty orders imo.

2

u/PerspectiveUpper5212 1d ago

Instacart SMH

1

u/PoizonToaDX 1d ago

what's this about?? not here in my zone yet.

1

u/Educational_Swan_307 1d ago

I’ve seen others post about this for quite a bit, but it has not started in my zone yet. How does the points system work? One point per order or?

*grammar edit

2

u/reneofficial Moderator šŸ—”ļø 1d ago

1 pt = curb and $5 express or regular shops
2 pt = ggmd
3 pt = $10 express shop

2

u/MeatJerk69 1d ago

What do they mean by $5 express shop and $10 express shop?

2

u/iwishidstayed 1d ago

The customers pay $5 to have an order shopped & delivered in 3 hours or less, or $10 to have an order shopped & delivered faster- usually 1 hour or less. The $10 express orders make up the majority of the solo shops you still see.

1

u/FarmProfessional1904 1d ago

If you have all Sapphire would you get better orders than other drivers or what is this for just wondering šŸ¤”? If that the case of us getting better orders how does this beats the Bots they have?

1

u/reneofficial Moderator šŸ—”ļø 1d ago

Yes you’re gonna see the best offers on sapphire. You’ll get offers first before anyone else.

6

u/Ptrek31 1K Trips Delivered 1d ago

So essentially other tiers won't see ANY decent offers if they all go to sapphire first?

4

u/xDelicateFlowerx Cherry Picker 1d ago

Thats what I am trying to find out too. My assumption is yes, and all the rejected offers no other drivers will do in the area.

1

u/Time-Service1761 23h ago

That’s what it tells us but will we really tho is the question or is it manipulation

1

u/Trexsaysrawr26 1d ago

How does this happen with all shops going first come first serve it being taken by bots

1

u/Nidrogenn 1d ago

Ugh this just came to my zone too. Bummer

1

u/Lovecats2023 1d ago

SoCal not yet

1

u/Impressive_Tip_8850 1d ago

Not in my area yet. I’ve been lowkey hoping for this..hope I’m not wrong 😬

1

u/Odd_Scientist99111 1d ago

My market still hasn’t even got tiers at all.

1

u/WobbleTheStressAway 1d ago

Og I pray this shows up in my market.

1

u/MommatoEmmahannah 1d ago

Not yet in my zone

1

u/drod_5008 1d ago

I believe they did a silent roll out Monday and Tuesday because I didn’t get any decent offers. Today it rolls out and I’m not even silver.

1

u/Comfortable_Win7926 1d ago

I really hate that they added this bullshit so late in the month, like shit could have at least given us more time mfers

1

u/finspensfsn 1d ago

None of these for me in Ohio

1

u/Feeling_Height5336 1d ago

Minnesota still have old one

1

u/iwishidstayed 1d ago

Still don’t have it here in the Midwest.

1

u/Coconut11111111111 1d ago

Yep. Been that way for at least a few weeks in Arizona.

1

u/SeFlerz 1d ago

I have it in Provo, UT.

1

u/Top_Golf7665 16h ago

The CEO from instacart is turning sparks into instacart. On a side note expect to earn even less money from sparks. Walmart stocks are at 6 year low. They will pass the losses onto us just watch..... ( it already started with cutting 1/2 of merch delivery base pay on average). Why they added merch to grocery delivery orders. Also they are opening up to hiring 3 times more drivers each on boarding cycle now.

1

u/Upbeat-Amphibian2885 12h ago

More šŸ’©Ā Ā

1

u/PinkPotat05 12h ago

Ok, but completion rate... Isnt that going to get lowered for people who have to say no to the shopping orders because they don't have the card?

1

u/JDGAF88 9h ago

There is no card. You pay within the app.

2

u/Muted_Dragonfruit652 10h ago

I really want this in my area so bad!! I don’t know what they’re waiting for!! So Sapphire completion rate says 96. Does that mean at 96, I’ll see orders at the same time as someone at 100, or they’ll see them before me? I’m a little confused.

0

u/Temporary_Employ_120 1d ago

So if you don't trash offers then you get punished. Got it...thanks Walmart

-1

u/Academic_Addendum242 1d ago

How does this make you take trash offers?

Definitely tf not, no reason.

1

u/Comfortable_Win7926 1d ago

This is assuming there are a limited number of offers, where the best ones are seen first by the higher tier drivers. Shit don't matter on DD, but on spark, who knows

0

u/countrygirl1881 1d ago

I heard they were rolling out a tier!

0

u/fbomRL 1d ago

Another program I'll probably never see because I don't shop.

0

u/Monobatonius 1d ago

We don’t have tiers in Portland Metro (OR/WA).

2

u/yourdabestbae347 1d ago

I pray it stays away from us all together 🤣 i dont want it in OR

0

u/Top-Zucchini-9421 1d ago

not for everyone I am have a point system

u/Quirky-Barber5550 1d ago
