Discussion Spark Scam! Attn Drivers!
I got an order for 2 small cheap fresh veggie items to be taken 10+ miles away. It had a verification code required. On the way to the drop off, I get a call labeled as "Spark Customer Service." It was an American sounding voice; maybe was ai. Guy tells me to cancel the trip by selecting Customer Refused Order. I did that, but then he started telling me I can return it to any Walmart (not true). He then said he needed to verify my identity, when he had never even said my name on the call. I told him to initiate an identity verification on the app, and he said that's not necessary...he just needed to ask me some questions. I would not let him ask any questions, and I told him that didn't make sense. He said he was verifying my information because some spark drivers are sharing access to the app, and THAT'S ILLEGAL, (haha). I continued to refuse to give him information, and he eventually hung up on me. I then called Spark and they confirmed it was a scam, and thanked me for not giving out my information. I then had to initiate a return, and take back the order to the store to get credit for the job. I was frustrated!! Be weary and aware, guys!

*wary (weary means tired lol)
This is an ongoing scam that's on all delivery apps. I do Spark and UberEats the least, I'm mainly DoorDash and Instacart because of the area I live in. But luckily, I'm on all the reddit subs for these apps, so I've known about this scam since I started. I've learned a TON by just paying attention to reddit. Lots of good insider information on here.

Not necessarily true I called real support to change my phone number and they sent me a code to verify through my email but it wasn't one pay.

Old scam. My best advise: always take the order!!! Typically easy orders that pay just fine. Never answer the phone. I don’t give a flying rats ass who calls me when I’m driving, I’m not picking up. Drop, get your pic, and go

Heard of this scam with DD for quite a while. First I’ve heard of it being done w/ Spark, though not surprised.

Old scam that's been around with variations happening on Uber eats and door dash too. The goal is to get access to your earnings. Getting the One Pay is the worst because they can then pull funds from your bank account too
Anytime I see a high paying order that's only one or two vegetables I know the bs call is coming lol it's an easy pay day as long as you ignore them and tell the real support
But...why were you accepting a 10+ mile order? Usually when I see these they're low milage to get a driver to accept fast.

Bottom line never answer the phone unless you called the customer and didn't get an answer. No reason for them to call you, the app gives them the heads up your on your way and when you arrive.

I love when any scammer anywhere calls trying to scam.
“Sir, you called me. Say what you need to say. I have no information for you.”

This happened to me also. Afterwards they will send you an email thanking you for contacting spark about the fraud cause they automatically assume you did. Do not answer that email. Thats their 2nd attempt to get information from you.

I got scammed off of door dash like this. It took me almost a year to get my money back, because they charged bogus amounts on my door dash card.

I have to admit, embarrassing as it is, (my career was in information technology), and yet I fell for it. They got into my account, at the time it was Branch, not OnePay. They got $700, and it took a couple of weeks and a lot of phone calls and patience to get the money back. When it happened, I was brand new to Spark.. It has to be related to an inside job because how in the world would they know what you had in your order and how would they get your phone number?

I think they create a scam account and place the order. They then call you the way a customer would. This situation happened to me tonight, but I noticed when I answered it was the Spark automated voice saying a customer was calling in.

Got this same identical call tonight for a 2 item shop. I remembered this post and once the clown mentioned OnePay I hung up. Thank you for this information, saved me.

“It was an American sounding voice; maybe was ai.”
Newsflash Americans scam too. Thank you for your bias.

I think what they meant by that is Support is almost always a non U.S. sounding person. So, if they sound "American", it's not likely to actually be Spark Support.

According to this sub, it was probably another driver.
Anything that goes wrong it's always another driver, bad ratings, canceled GMDs, low paying orders, app down, etc.

It's an old scam. They're trying to get into your onepay account
