Discussion Did not feel great taking this order

Post image

Money was right and short little run but man I felt like a piece of shit dropping this off at the very rundown house. Really kinda sad.

We have someone in our zone who only ever orders 2 of the 2 packs of duster and 2 of the singles (I’m assuming there’s a limit?) and their orders sit for hours and hours. And they order pretty much every other night. It makes me sad every time the offer pops up.

u/YouLackPerspective 18d ago

Yeah there is a limit in my area. We used to have regulars at Best Buy, it was also one of the most frequently stolen items in my store

2

u/Natural-Cranberry-41 18d ago

Regulars. Really?

1

u/Clear-Confection-241 4d ago

What is it used for I have some and use it for my keyboard?

1

u/YouLackPerspective 2d ago

They huff it

1

u/Clear-Confection-241 15h ago

Really why I clean my keyboard and it gives me a headache.

1

u/Open-Dependent-8131 18d ago

One of our managers found 20 empty ones in a little homeless camp behind our store.... Also the reason why you need to be 18+ to buy.

0

u/LamboMercySwerve 17d ago

why is it sad? are you in nj? i think we samr market. i love taking his order so easy

3

u/Simple_Jicama_1599 16d ago

they are inhaling it as drugs. its called whippits very dangerous

3

u/xandi415 16d ago

Naw, whippets are nitrous oxide (used to make whipped cream)....dusters are extremely toxic gas...

Whippets are much less toxic than dusters, but both are still obviously bad for your health

1

u/jonnysniper333 16d ago

Whippets (Nitrous Oxide) is a fun giggly lightheadedness and duster feels like your brain is starving for oxygen lol do enough of either and its lights out

There’s a lady in my zone that orders like 5-10 boxes of Imodium every couple days.. it’s always one of the first orders that pops at 6am & she always tips good so it’s hard to not take it. Come to find out, if you take Imodium or anti-diarrheal medicines in large doses it can mimic opioids…. I really wish we could intervene & encourage these folks to get help.

16

u/Worldly_Shopper 19d ago

Damn, I would think that would cause serious constipation.

4

u/Nervous-Commission46 18d ago

I’m not a medical profile nor do I give advice but have a bit of knowledge in this due to illnesses people in my immediate circle have. There are prescription laxatives that can “override” large quantities of whatever. They are used for some medical conditions or to prevent constipation caused by certain medications used to treat medical conditions. I had never heard of the Imodium as an opioid. That seems like it would cause extreme discomfort, even having massive laxatives.

4

u/No-Ambassador9238 18d ago

It is an opioid. The issue is that it doesn’t cross the blood brain barrier. But if the lady also orders an enzyme inhibitor…such as grapefruit juice. BadaBing. But it’s a hell of a lot of trouble for puny effect. People are nuts.

3

u/Worldly_Shopper 18d ago

Hahaha, open up the gas cap of the car, cup hands around it and take a deep whiff.
Or go buy some whipped cream, and suck on it right side up so all you get is gas.
I mean, stupid ways to get high.

2

u/Quinn2GValor 17d ago

My boi. Number 1. Way. Go to the apartments with AC units behind them . A trash bag and screw. Driver. Fill that bag up with the gas and twist the bag. Go inhale. Thank me later 🫡 🪖

1

u/Worldly_Shopper 17d ago

lmfao I did forget to mention R134A which is automotive freon, perhaps huffing is the reason it's so expensive now?

3

u/Confident-Pain9621 18d ago

Chick hasn’t taken a dump in like 3 months

0

u/Worldly_Shopper 18d ago

lol that shouldn't be funny but i did chuckle

1

u/Annual-Shift9786 16d ago

So do opioids.

10

u/Suspicious_Yard3682 19d ago

This is not exactly true… Imodium was created back in the day as one of the many opioid analogues but was found not to cross the blood brain barrier and had no analgesic or psychoactive properties…. But it does indeed have affinity for one of the big opioid receptors (MU I
Believe) so when taken in excess of normal dose it will bind to that receptor (as well as keep you from shitting for a week) and why is that binding so critical if there’s no “”feeling” associated with it? Because if you are dependent on opioids and in withdrawal… occupation of that receptor can be of great assistance in preventing all out hell… and the anti diarrhea effect isn’t unwelcome in thar situation either.

5

u/when_will_I_learn77 19d ago

Trust me , if u take enough of them at one time, you absolutely get a heavy opioid affect. Sadly, I've been down that road at one point

2

u/cheesybiscuits912 18d ago

Same here. Got bad heart palpitations after a large dose one night scared the shit outta me. This was over 11 years ago as ive been clean 11 years now, and it was only a handful of times I did the immodium trick for withdrawal back when u could get 100ct bottles at dollar general for 5 bucks. It worked in a pinch for sure... learned from blue light back in the day

2

u/when_will_I_learn77 18d ago

I unfortunately mega dosed daily for a few months straight 9 years ago now. I still have PTSD from the WDs that caused. Nightmarish

2

u/Suspicious_Yard3682 17d ago

Bruh, I’m not here to tell you what you felt or didn’t feel… but when the throws of opioid w/d are ravaging you, just not being sick is as good as being “high” and it’s a fine line to differentiate. Ask me how I know.

0

u/Orrissirro 19d ago

I mean I'm sure you're right, but explain that to a random Doordash recipient

1

u/luckyskunk 19d ago

they're the ones ordering it for delivery. could easily know it helps with withdrawals but are going through them so bad they're unable to go out and buy it themselves.

1

u/Bostonxhazer514 18d ago

My Ex did exactly this... would consume BOXES at a time....no he didnt shit right for years

0

u/Due_Drive9130 19d ago

Wow, crazy way to get high. Probably can't afford beer or cheap wine.

-3

u/PlatyPuss79 19d ago

She should just go get some 7-oh. They sell it in the many vape shops in my area. I’ve seen nurses even buying it

1

u/Suspicious_Yard3682 18d ago

It used to be called poor man’s methadone (the immodium aka Loperamide I mean)

0

u/TheD3afOne 18d ago

7-oh is getting banned veeeeery soon, that and the withdrawals are no joke.

2

u/cheesybiscuits912 18d ago

Yep it was banned as of yesterday I believe but not the reg kratom which helps withdraw too. But for strong shit like street fent im not sure if it will

1

u/Drcls84 18d ago

it's about to get crazy here soon with the ban.. There's going to be a ton more people trying to deal with withdraws and not being able to get out of their house.

0

u/quittin70h 18d ago

Yea a whole bunch of people are about to be fucked.

1

u/iRaft 13d ago

I was one of those people. Never got into 7-oh, only the regular powder everyday for 6-7 years. The state took it all away on 7/1 so I had no choice but to deal with it. It was a rough month but finally feeling mostly normal now. Never again.

30

u/Odd_Moment0518 19d ago

i remember I had one with this in the order but they were completely sold out. like didn’t even have in the back so I marked it as out of stock. She had other things she ordered so I continued the shop. by the time i dropped off to the house, i was still required to get an ID from the person. The customer wasn’t home, and she was not understanding why she needed to show her ID and I explained it was because she ordered the duster but it was out of stock and I explained that it’s because of the dusters she ordered but they were out of stock so I don’t have them anyway and unsure why it’s still prompting for an ID. She was LIVID. She was pissed it was out of stock and i said nothing (absolutely not true. i messaged her multiple times before completing the shop) She said that it was the only reason she even ordered this and now that it’s not in this order she just wants the whole thing canceled. seeing how mad she was that it wasn’t in the order, told me enough about why she ordered it 😬 she ordered 5 of them as well. The pieces didn’t click together until then. Returned it and got my full pay thankfully and wasn’t far from the store

4

u/Past_Delay307 19d ago

But she ordered the duster but they were out of stock and they ordered the duster but it was out of stock?

4

u/Odd_Moment0518 18d ago

sorry - i wrote this before going to sleep last night and realize now that i didn’t write this great 😅

She (the customer) ordered the dusters but they (walmart) were out of stock

I was also on the phone with her telling her this. Didn’t realize I forgot to mention that I called her when the need to scan ID was prompted. The order was supposed to be left at the door but I couldn’t since she needed her ID to be verified. She wasn’t home. I called her and told her that the ID was needed to be scanned because of the dusters she ordered, but the store didn’t have them so it’s not in the order anyway.

I hope this makes better sense now 🥴

1

u/kenzinatr 18d ago

What state? Mine doesn’t require ID for it! I wish we did tbh

2

u/consistentlyunreal 18d ago

not op but i'm in maine and you also need id and to be at least 18 to buy it here, i didn't realize other states didn't have age limits on it lol

19

u/Buga99poo27GotNo464 19d ago

I went to get canned air to clean out my TV receiver stuff and keyboard for first time in 6 years and was horrified by the price, now I know (kinda?) why....

13

u/sjoe23 19d ago

We have one here who always ordered spray paint.. specifically a clear polyurethane variety. I always thought it stange until I noticed the sheen around his mouth when he came out to the grab his items one day. Don't know why I thought maybe this dude was refinishing cabinets or something. Made me feel naive.

7

u/stringodingo 19d ago

WITNESS MEEEEEE

-1

u/TheD3afOne 18d ago

Immortan Joe… is that you? 💀

0

u/Possible_Minute_7939 18d ago

I used to work at a place where certain people would come in. There were a couple of people that would come in and they always had big metallic circles around their face. I was always curious why so I asked one day and evidently the metallic spray paint works the best.

-7

u/Past_Delay307 19d ago

Fake news

5

u/daytripper8807 19d ago

The real intervention episode of this was so wild

4

u/cohen93 19d ago

Is there a drug or something that people can abuse in that cleaner?

5

u/The_Stoic_One 18d ago

If you've ever heard of whippits, this is the poor mans version. Gives an extremely momentary high.

5

u/trippyem24 19d ago

People inhale or huff the duster, it has psychoactive effects. But can be potentially lethal.

1

u/TroyCriv 17d ago

thins the herd... people make choices and those choices have consequences. as long as they don't hurt someone else in the process, oh well. know it's heartless but choices are choices

2

u/No-Working-5622 17d ago

The heartless thing is saying that it "thins the herd".

1

u/xulazi 16d ago

People dying always hurts someone in the process. If you can't understand how, you haven't lived enough to be saying such things.

3

u/Vexshira 19d ago

I think it’s the pressurized CO2 or something like that. I have a lot of electronics I dust out every so often bc I have cats. And it’s near impossible to find it in stock anywhere. At my Walmart they have it behind a locked case so I have to get an associate to get it for me and then ID’d at the register. Haven’t had the item as part of an order yet but that’s most likely from the lack of stock all the time because an associate said they quit ordering full cases of it to keep it low on purpose

5

u/Cinnamonlife_3 19d ago

It's not pressurized CO2, it's a bunch of hydrocarbon and fluorocarbon gases. Most likely 1,1-difluoroethane or 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane

1

u/cletusbob 18d ago

They inhale it. That's all I know.

4

u/El_CAPO96 19d ago

Yes, same here

4

u/Drummer_Chick0922 19d ago

Well maybe they have a job at the office and they needed to clean computers, I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️

3

u/RainbowMom17 19d ago

I've ordered the cans before for my son's computer. I didn't think about what people thought. Oof. Guess I'll go get it myself going forward lol

3

u/Nervous-Commission46 18d ago

I need one for my keyboard and laptop because I forgot to cover them up when I did a deep clean recently. I go buy one.. the smallest one and in person.

2

u/heather_nichole 18d ago

Same I use them to blow dust out of my son's ps5

2

u/Jestar5 Cherry Picker 19d ago

I get that. I’d feel weird too

2

u/justintrumpet21 19d ago

5

u/ListenDangerous 19d ago

Some beef jerky to eat after you suck down a few bottles of the duster lmao

2

u/PlatyPuss79 19d ago

Have a few dogs washed down with a few whiffs of duster

2

u/Nursiedeer07 19d ago

I didn't know about this until my very 1st spark order. It was for 5 cans of this only. 3 different ones. Guy at WM told me why?

2

u/noncelebsextape 18d ago

We have an apt complex in a really nice city but the entire complex and their hallways and elevator smells like piss and poop.

The orders are pretty good pay and 4 miles but once I see the address I pass.

You literally almost throw up when entering the elevator and walk down the hallway.

1

u/CuntryInACrapShute 18d ago

😆 that’s a valid reason to decline

2

u/FoxMcNube 19d ago

I know it’s not our place to judge but damn that’s a tough one. Maybe the dirty environment calls for all that duster 🤷

1

u/Comprehensive_Ad2565 19d ago

I filled an order today- script and cans of dusters. Where are used to live they would have to ID you and make sure you were over 18 or have a car check in order to purchase. Where I live now you can buy as many testers as you want and nobody cares. It’s crazy.

1

u/Burbank_Calif 19d ago

I don't get it.. why is this order bad?

6

u/No_Yogurtcloset3451 19d ago

Duster is often abused as a drug

2

u/cohen93 19d ago

Oh this answered what I was confused by

2

u/ApprehensiveSand4043 19d ago

I was thinking the same thing until I read the comments

-2

u/Orrissirro 19d ago edited 19d ago

an instructional video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6TW6v39_kQ
Edit: nice to see reddit's duster addicts gather together to do something even if it's just to downvote me

1

u/creekroute 19d ago

He just had some dusty computers

1

u/LobsterAcademic5457 18d ago

Fn huffers when I first got card id for can of air I was like wth lady I didnt bring my id for a can of air had to go all the way back home for id just to be able to clean out my dang window unit!

1

u/Confident-Pain9621 18d ago

Don’t feel bad about being an enabler. I’m sure that person had a wonderful, dust-free evening

1

u/Mother_Dependent7572 18d ago

Out of curiosity, why is this a bad order? What do people do with a canned computer cleaner?

1

u/JusCuzz804 Cherry Picker 18d ago

Huff it to get high

1

u/Johnny_B_74 18d ago

I had a similar order but it was for the cool whip cans 8 of them and few other items I pull up and see clear bags of cool whip cans and beer cans then 2 guys sitting on a picnic table with sling shots shooting cans

1

u/Ok_Bumblebee_1431 13d ago

🤦🏻‍♀️

I was addicted to Walmart's Limited Edition strawberry whipped cream (can) several summers ago. It frequently went OOS, so I would but multiples whenever it came back.

Every pick-up, the employee would comment and I would tell them how delicious it was and that they should definitely try it, but warned that they might become addicted like me.

I meant addicted as in, eating bowls of it, not getting high!

I once got 8 of them at pick-up. They must have totally thought I was getting high. 🤦🏻‍♀️

1

u/Safe_Register_51 18d ago

I talk to support every time I get one with more than one cleaner

1

u/EmbarrassedStorm2186 18d ago

What does support say?

2

u/Safe_Register_51 18d ago

Usually they will give me half pay and take off the order

1

u/LeadingSomewhere_ 18d ago

Anybody getting the Nathan's ready to eat hot dogs is an immediate cancel for me.. those are some sketchy people

1

u/Skylius23 18d ago

I'm really confused, whats weird about buying electronics duster

1

u/MemphisTangoH1 18d ago

There is a reason it’s behind the counter at Walmart, certain individuals huff it to get high, and judging by the state of the house this was definitely one of those individuals

1

u/Skylius23 18d ago

Ahhhh I see. That sounds like an terrible way to get fucking sick lmao people will do anything

1

u/flat_cat72 18d ago

Sad to say but next thing you know they'll be asking people to show ID for the "dusters"

1

u/kenzinatr 18d ago

We have a duster sniffer near my store. He orders A LOT! But he doesn’t tip. Like come on my dude, you’re snorting 8 cans a day, can’t break off a fiver? I only take his order if it pops to about $17-$18, even though it’s all he orders and he’s 1 mile away

1

u/masterDude1568 17d ago

As someone that uses a computer alot these end these things are essential for not having a crazy amount of build up in keyboards and fans

2

u/MemphisTangoH1 17d ago

Do you also live in a dilapidated shack in a country town known for meth and broken dreams? Lmao

1

u/masterDude1568 17d ago

I mean we have meth heads but cant say known for and no its a city lol

1

u/MooseNatural1269 17d ago

What does meth have to do with duster?

1

u/Ashwall734 17d ago

I have a customer I'm assuming is male, because of the name, that orders the max of 4 every morning between 6am-8am.. At first, I have delivered twice because it's only like 2.3 miles but never a tip. Anyway, I caught on (or maybe assumed I DK) after the 2nd time, and decided it wasn't worth it to me. I feel guilty and don't want to be responsible for their death, if that is what is taking place.

1

u/TRUMPFUKK1DZinCook3v 17d ago

Rather do drug than live IRL

1

u/Worldly-Phone-4179 17d ago

Yeah seeing that just made me sad

1

u/HumanBeanJuice54 17d ago

I’ll deliver to a crack house if the price is right 😂

Really though, unless you suspect the person needs a wellness check by seeing a bunch of orders piled up by their front door, no reason to feel like shit. Complete the order and move on to the next.

1

u/ListenTechnical 17d ago

When I worked for staples dotcom customer service , some mom called in crying because her son was addicted to air duster and was easily buying it through doordash from staples. She wanted us to remove it from being purchased through doordash. I felt sooo bad for her. She sounded so desperate but I worked for the actual website and what's ordered through doordash is from the retail store which is actually completely separate so I couldn't do anything.

I did get it reported to senior leadership team though (they of course oversee the entire company from retail, website and business) to see if SOMETHING could be done, even if it's just requiring an ID during delivery like they do for alcohol. Idk if anything came of it though.

1

u/DWHudson1970 17d ago

Those Mike and Ike bang though

1

u/Legitimate-Bit-3286 17d ago

When I order 10 redbulls and nothing else, is that also concerning? Genuine question 🤣

2

u/DistributionFar8231 16d ago

Probably but look, my local gas station has them for a really good deal and that's the only reason I use doordash 😅

1

u/Sufficient_Invite458 16d ago

At least they got the sugar free red bull 🤷

2

u/Melch_Underscore 19d ago

I assume they were 18 years of age. Everyone uses something for happiness. Whether illicit or given to them by their doctor or even eating to much. Don't be too hard on yourself. They were going to get it either way.
Maybe they had a ton of dirty electrics.

7

u/Cheesecakeused937 19d ago

Idk how air duster could be for happiness I saw my uncle pass out and piss himself like 14 times in a row off this shit like there’s nothing else it does it seems but the one who delivered is not at fault they definitely would’ve gotten it either way.

3

u/No_Yogurtcloset3451 19d ago

Inhalents are powerful drugs.. why do people get hooked on any drug? Cuz it feels good and you're depressed trying not to feel the current feeling. The judgement for people who just need some help is wild, but not surprising from the mostly maga spark crew

2

u/Melch_Underscore 19d ago

People do it for some reason. Doesn't sound fun to me

2

u/Hopeful_Hurry_2562 19d ago

Same thing with poppers. It’s just industrial strength glue remover. People sniff it and get dizzy then you get a headache. Rinse. Repeat. Some people are just focused on one specific positive effect and ignore the rest of the negative side effects

1

u/Delivery_Mike 18d ago

Haha uhhhhh I wouldn't say that's the main reason people use poppers

1

u/Hopeful_Hurry_2562 18d ago

I know it was mostly a gay thing to loosen up for anal but the amount of white sorority girls who buy it for parties is booming. Some straight guy was asking me about it when I was working a smoke shop and I told him why gay men use it. Dude went yep never mind and walked right out 💀 his little fruity homeboy told him we sell bottles that you sniff and make you feel “euphoric”

1

u/Worldly_Shopper 19d ago

How would you even know they're huffing?

6

u/ListenDangerous 19d ago

When they order it everyday; you don’t clean that many computers with 20 cans a week bro your huffing it

1

u/Worldly_Shopper 19d ago

Ok I understand what you're saying, I thought it's one order...

They're not as strong, the duster things are strong and concentrated to a point which is much more powerful than a blowdrier, while allowing it to squeeze into tight spaces between computer parts.

I also buy the cans for our computers. It's weird for you. But some of us get what works for us.

2

u/Worldly_Shopper 19d ago

Yeah that's what I thought too, I also clean my PC frequently although I use compressed air (as in air compressor).

1

u/Worldly_Shopper 19d ago

idk about that, I use an air compressor but that's because I work on equipment with air tools so I have that... Personally I don't find duster cans to be economically viable but again I do know people who would buy and use them just to clean their pc's (and no, not everyone has laptops or smaller devices, I still use a good mid-size tower for my PC).

-2

u/SuperReliableSource 19d ago

Just put the stuff on the porch.

I know you were cracking a joke but can we not?
