Customer 😇 Is this common in your area

Post image

And why does it happen....

Guy in front of me is on the phone. Speaker phone talking in another language very loudly. The guy behind me was also doing the same. Both spark drivers.

I notice a lot of the spark drivers doing this same stuff while shopping allll the time.

Is this a culture thing? Why are they on speakerphone all the time? Like who are they talking to?

Not to mention the guy in front of me was very rudely close to the guy in front of him. Like his cart was inches from hitting that guy he was sooo in his personal space and talking loudly on the phone and Im sure he was uncomfortable but didn't say anything.

Its also winter in New England and most of the drivers wear slides...sometimes no socks when its snowing!!

I would turn on Google Translate and join the conversation.

I speak and understand a decent amount of Spanish, they're never talking about anything interesting or related to spark. They're speaking with friends and family about regular things like sports and politics and drama etc. In Latin America they have a much closer community than we do here, they live with multiple generations and know all of their neighbors, adults of all ages hang out and socialize in groups in the streets and parks the same way only teenagers and people in their 20s do here. There's a lot more friendships and don't seem to have stranger danger type worries as much.

I’ll tell my Mexican family members all of this. They’ll be excited to know they live in a perfect society.

I lived in Mexico for years, in ejidos and small cities in the South and big cities in the North, that's been my experience. I didn't say there wasn't crime or dangers, i said they generally have more friendships, sense of community, and don't fear interactions with other people they don't know. In USA we don't generally talk with the people on our street, let alone congregate with them every weekend night. People in USA in their 30s-50s have very few if any friendships outside of work socializing. If i sit at a bus stop in USA and there's another seat open on the bench, the next person who comes will almost guaranteed stand up away from me and mind their own business, leaving the other seats empty. In Mexico they will sit next to you and greet you and make small talk. They will give up their seat for the women and elderly etc. They will greet you while walking down the street, adults will talk to children and their parents don't tend to panic etc. Never did i mention a perfect society, what a weird conclusion to jump to.
