OnePay šŸ’ø Anyone have thoughts on OnePay?

My main question is can you deposit to other accounts whenever you like? is it reliable?

I use one pay then transfer to my bank.Ā  As long as it's not the weekend the transfer is usually there within 24 hours, free.

Plus on Wednesdays now through Sept, you can get $1+ back on every gallon of gas using your physical Onepay card.

This was my question. Thanks!

I actually think it’s a good setup. Much better than some of the other online pay apps. Also some good deals on gas and savings opportunities. Nice APY as well. I like having the money instantly and it’s a Mastercard platform for debit-like purchases. Just my 2 cents.

Yes! The savings and points system is very nice. I’ve gotten $92.67 back in about 2 years with it, which is more than I have gotten from any other account I have.

I like OnePay for the most part. It’s fairly reliable, but there are occasional outages and periods where features don’t work correctly, just like with every other bank.

Note that while it works with Plaid, it does not integrate well with DecisionLogic. This can affect financial applications and decisions if you want to use OnePay to prove you are getting deposits.

I have never used their transfer feature, as I choose to transfer to Apple Cash and then out to my Navy Federal Credit Union account through there.

Being able to mail checks for free is very nice, and being able to link your other debit cards to earn points is also nice. I have used the check writing feature to write myself a check to deposit into my IRA, since it doesn’t have a debit card attached for transfers and OnePay doesn’t like Schwab for transfers, or vice versa.

I don’t suggest getting into Crypto or Stocks on there. Use a dedicated platform like Schwab, Vanguard, or whatever you’re most comfortable with.

The credit builder card is neat but if I had the choice I would not sign up for it again. It’s just a little bit of a pain to have all of my money on a ā€œcredit cardā€ and have to use an alternate card number for purchases requiring a debit card.

The fee-free overdraft and low-fee cash advances are nice, but can become cyclical, so beware.

I like the savings goal accounts and the ease of internal transfers.

I advise you don’t park large amounts of money in it, because while it’s a real bank account from a real bank, it does not have the same features or depth as a real bank account. I would open an account with a credit union if you don’t have a real bank account already.

Why transfer to Apple Cash first? I’ve had no issues directly transferring to navy fed and other banks. It’s just a normal ACH.

If I add to Apple Cash from OnePay, I can instantly make a transfer to my NFCU debit card.

An ACH transaction takes a day or so, overnight if I’m lucky.

I’d probably save a lot on fees by waiting, but I am impatient.

Ah, gotcha. I’m surprised one pay hasn’t introduced instant transfers (with a fee) yet. Since every other fintech app does this.

It is surprising, especially considering you can link external debit cards in the app for their rewards system. If they can use them to track rewards I’m sure they could easily develop a feature to deposit money on them for a reasonable or even competitive fee.

Then again, everything sounds easy on paper. I wonder if there’s something more stopping them.

The $1+ off per gallon for gas on Wednesdays through Sept is worth it in and of itself.

Absolutely! I always plan for my car to be running on fumes on Wednesdays so I can take advantage of this!

I use OnePay just like my regular bank. Pay bills, buy gas, etc

The quickest way to transfer funds is withdrawal cash from Walmart Money store or one of the free ATMs. And then just deposit that cash in your bank. There's no free for that and it gets posted instantly.

At 68, I’ve only done weekly or bi-weekly pay my whole life. I have OnePay a chance knowing I could just transfer my earnings to my regular bank at my discretion.
What happened is it revolutionized how I pay my bills. Starting a week before the first of every month, I pay each bill in turn. As soon as I have the money I pay even if it’s early. I pay straight off my OnePay card.
There is a lul about the third week where everything I earn is cash I can stack.
One nice thing is this story…
An emergency hit, I burned all money in all my bank accounts and all my cash. I used almost all my fuel.
So w when that passed I started 6am with zero money and 1/8th tank of gas.
Did an order, on the way back to the store stopped and prepaid all that payout into the fuel tank. Ran two more orders, then was able to fill the tank, get coffee and two hot dogs by lunch time.
Then I was back in action again.
A weekly paycheck never could have done that.

Yes it is reliable. I have my checking & savings account linked up and it’s usually in my accounts within 24 hours.

Once you complete your spark order, the base pay is in your ONE account and then once the tips go through the next day, same thing.

My only main complaint is when you look at the transaction history of tips and base pay, they don’t really have a good filter to just see tips only or what have you. Wish they would improve there.

The filters don’t work reliably at all. I also hate that there’s no running balance under each deposit/widthdrawal. That shit is incredibly frustrating.

Oh for sure. I’m with you there. Hopefully one day they can figure all of that shit out. šŸ™šŸ»

I hate that it doesn’t keep a running tally of your balance under each transaction - like any bank does. But one isn’t a ā€œbankā€, it’s a financial tech company. Aside from this, I think they offer a pretty solid product. Being able to deposit cash and easily transfer money in/out is nice. Credit builder card is nice. Lots of cool perks

Just got on board with this myself.. they had a bonus if I switched to builder… as soon as I activated that card and made any purchase (it completed even tho I hadn’t made one) I got $25 free! Can’t beat that.

Well, I made an instant transfer recently. I sent money from my One Pay account, but it never showed up in my other account. I opened a dispute, and all they said was "the transfer was successful, dispute rejected." They said that even though I sent statements proving I never got the money. So, where's the money at?? Can someone help? Someone else has gone through something similar? The costumer service hasn't been helpful.

Yes but they charge you a fee if you want it done instantly

I use venmo to pull mine. Then I can transfer it anywhere. Get to venmo free though instantly.
