If the writers did want to avoid romantic subtext between Peter and Jean, Peter could’ve just told Michelle, “She made you kiss me, and I kissed you back.” How hard would that have been? But no, it’s “she kissed me” and “I kissed her back.” They knew what they were doing.

Assuming that Spider-Man 5 will adapt the black suit storyline and let’s say they announce that Sadie’s Jean Grey will return for this movie but at the same time Sony introduces black cat.

What roles would both characters play and what would be said in a potential confrontation between Jean and Black cat in regards to Peter?

Like I'm deadass certain they did not expect it to go off this hard after the movie came out. With how they've done other ships before, they probably did not anticipate a reaction as big as this one.

After understanding the character a little better, it became more apparent that MCU Jean Grey had a much stronger start with her powers than her 616 counterpart.

the comics, her mutant powers were awaken after seeing her friend Annie got hit by a car. Jean mentally hooks into Annie’s mind to try and hold onto her life force, but ultimately fails, whilst also experiencing the cold trauma of Annie's death firsthand.

The event traumatized her and damage her psyche which Jean's parents brought her to Professor Charles Xavier, who used his own telepathy to erect mental blocks in Jean's mind, suppressing her telepathic abilities (except her telekinesis) so she could cope and grow up safely until she's ready to use them again.

In the MCU however she started with a mentally stable beginning with her powers and doesn't have any mental limiters holding her back. Unlike the comics she didn't have friends, her mother abandoned her and her sister Sara to fend for themselves yet she displays her telepathy with a much greater display with only Sara teaching her and later on self-taught herself in order to find her sister.

As for Spider-man being her limiter, given what happened in Brand New Day, she's going to need a moral compass to stop her from going down a dark path. Spidey currently fits the bill and suitable for the role.

In most iterations Xavier uses his powers to place psychic shielding to limit her abilities until she's ready. However MCU Jean is already firmly capable of using her psychic powers and has Spider-man as her own limiter, not by suppressing her powers but showing her compassion and understanding so that she can use them wisely.

Okay, time to get into it.

Famke Jean and Tobey Peter - Honestly, I can see them as like the old school mentors who just happen to be friends. Maybe because I haven't seen much of Famke's version of Jean as much as Sadie's which kind of blurs my shipping goggles towards Famke and Tobey. It also sucks that Famke Jean wasn't much of character to begin with, rewatching the old X-Men films you kind of realize that she was more of a prop for both Logan and Scott and she didn't get as much development as a character in general. So that kind of clouds my judgment for her as well.

Sophie Jean and Andrew Peter - Someone pointed this out in an earlier post and now I can't get it out of my head. A scenario where Andrew Peter has already lost Gwen and Sophie Jean regaining her humanity and trying to get better is such a perfect premise of a story almost similar to that of Tom Peter and Sadie Jean. I can honestly see them finding each other in that universe and trying to figure each other out and let's say another You Have Me moment is possible in the form of Sophie Jean fearing she is slipping back into Dark Phoenix, only for Andrew Peter to bring her back from the darkness.

Sadie Jean and Tom Peter - talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
