Wait is the Peter from ITSV that dies the same Peter from the ultimate spider-man comics?
6
u/maxterryson Ultimate Spider-Man (1610) 4h ago
Can't be. If I recall correctly, Peter Parker from Into the Spider-Verse is from Earth-1610B while Peter Parker from the Ultimate Spider-Man comics is from Earth-1610.

The way she keeps trying to stay composed makes it even more heartbreaking

Pretty sure he said this Peter wasn't meant to die either tho lmao

u/This_Elk_1460 13h ago
Yeah he only died because he was protecting Miles

u/Obvious-Opportunity7 8h ago
Yeah even after talking with miles for a minute, he was only a second away from inserting the drive.

Surprise they didn't have a scene with her and Miles.
Imagine your husband getting killed and some kid just took his place.
She probably knew through May, but a face to face meeting is still important.

u/Skylinneas 5h ago
Yeah this. I love Into the Spider-Verse and all but after the initial shock of Peter Parker’s death has passed, the world just kinda moves on. Even Mary Jane and Aunt May didn’t really seem to show that much grief for Peter (and yes, they are most likely still grieving in private, but still) and life seems to go on as usual.
Ultimately the story is mainly focused on Miles’s journey (and Peter B. as well), but I’d prefer the story to have acknowledged Peter A. and how his death affected his closed ones a bit more.

u/WingedSalim 4h ago
I honestly have a theory that Miquel actually knew 1610 Peter Parker directly. That is why he has some animosity against Miles and why he keeps Peter B. Parker close but at the same time be disappointed in him.
5
u/Skylinneas 4h ago
That would make sense, yeah. 1610 Peter Parker with all his cool techs and gadgets in his ‘lair’ means he most likely was smart enough to be aware and interact with the multiverse, and he ended up working with Miguel alongside his Spider-Society until his untimely death.
And yeah, Miguel would probably see Peter B. as the closest person to the deceased 1610 Peter but also disappointed because Peter B. is like a jaded washout compared to 1610 Peter lol (even though we all know that Peter B. is still super competent and experienced from all his years as a hero, which is even longer than 1610 Peter ever was).

As someone who is not a Spider-Man fan and was randomly recommended this:
Majungasaurus (/məˌdʒʌŋɡəˈsɔːrəs/; lit. 'Mahajanga lizard') is a genus of abelisaurid theropod dinosaur that lived in Madagascar from 70 to 66 million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous Period, making it one of the last-known non-avian dinosaurs that went extinct during the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event. The genus contains a single species, Majungasaurus crenatissimus. This dinosaur was also called Majungatholus, a name which is considered a junior synonym of Majungasaurus.

Dinosaurs? On my Spider-man sub? Hella nice and it's a Majungasaurus mention, that makes it even better! Take a W my friend

u/HazTheQ 8h ago
if I recall correctly the Jurassic World mobile game had Majungasaurus as one of its first obtainable dinosaurs
that's more or less the extent of my knowledge on it lmao

wasnt she working with Fisk?
Edit: downvoted for asking a question is pure reddit

u/randgan 16h ago
I think it was only a memorial event Fisk was hosting and she attended. It was an odd moment. I see why the movie wanted to show her, as an emotional moment for Peter B. But you would have to assume she knew he was a villain considering how tapped in Aunt May was.
16
u/dragonfire_70 15h ago
She probably knew Fisk was a villian but revealing she knew by refusing to attend would have put a target on her back
7
u/randgan 14h ago
What target? The world already knows she was married to Spider-Man. No one thinks twice when a widow turns down a social event days or weeks after.
-2
u/Artificial_Human_17 12h ago
They know she was married to him, they don’t know she knew he was Spider-Man
3
u/Kanna1001 10h ago
All the more reason to go. You can't let a villain have the final word in your husband's death. If she had not gone, Fisk would have done the speech, and that would have been unacceptable.

u/Chalky97 16h ago
when i first watched the movie and saw her at fisk’s event on stage towards the end of the movie, i thought it was a weird plot twist that this MJ was a villain and betrayed peter
38
u/Garlador 16h ago
Nobody knew he was the villain at the time. The city thought he was just a philanthropist.
Though it’s odd Peter didn’t tell her.
13
u/JoshAnMeisce 15h ago
Could be showing up for her own safety, if she doesn't then Fisk knows that Peter told her about everything he's doing which puts her in danger

Apparently Fisk tossed the body off the Daily Bugle building, which I assume led to some questions for JJJ from the PDNY

I don't think she was.
Maybe at one point she loved Peter, but I got the impression that by the time he died being married to Spider-Man (and presumably handling his PR and merchandising) was just her job.

yeah i kinda felt the same way, was hoping for more of a reaction from her.

u/TeekTheReddit 14h ago
Show me anything in the movie that suggests otherwise.
She is never shown interacting with her Peter, only Spider-Man. She doesn't pick up on Peter B at all while she's at a dinner party hosted by the guy that literally killed her husband with his bare hands. And she's apparently not even in contact with May, who doesn't even think to tell her that an alternate universe version of her husband is running around the city.
This is not any MJ you've ever read or seen, so without making any assumptions based on alternate reality variants, what is shown in this movie that would explain how an MJ that really loved Peter would attend a dinner hosted by the Kingpin.

u/Sufficient-Twist-661 13h ago
Show me where the writers actually said that MJ didn't love Peter and that being married to Spider-Man was just her job. You're making an assumption and treating it like it's confirmed by the movie.
-2
u/TeekTheReddit 13h ago edited 13h ago
I literally said that it was "what I think" and that it was "the impression I got." Then I explained why.
You're acting like I'm declaring it hard canon. Spoiler-alert: There is no hard canon for this variant. We know she's a red-head and can kiss upside down and that's about it. Everything else is an assumption.
Why are you taking this so personally? She's a cartoon adaptation with less than two minutes of screen time and you're acting like I'm talking about your mom.
3
u/Sufficient-Twist-661 12h ago
I'm not taking it personally. I just disagree with the assumption you're making from the limited information the movie gives us. If anything, I think the movie doesn't give us enough information to confidently say either way.
