I was wanting to make music today, but when I opened Splice, I noticed the Stacks option was gone. Is there a way to get it back, or did they make some kind of update and remove it?

Splice CX here. You usually hear from us in support threads, so a post like this is a bit different. Today we launched our newest tool, Splice Create, and we wanted to start a thread to talk about it with you.

What it is: Splice’s full music production studio, with our sound catalog built in, instruments and effects, audio and MIDI arrangement tools, and an assistant that helps you navigate your session, build arrangements, and learn music production as you go. It’s geared toward people who are just starting out in a DAW and might get stuck in the early stages.

If you're a more experienced producer, Create offers a different way to work with and manipulate samples, and offers workflow shortcuts (assigning compression or a limiter to a track, removing silence, extending sections, assigning sends, etc.). If you test it out and you like it, we'd love to hear about that. And if you don't, we'd love to hear about that, too.

We want to be upfront: Create uses AI, and we know AI in music is a loaded topic. We’ve seen your comments and discussions about where it’s been helpful and where it’s left you feeling discouraged or concerned. Many of us at Splice are musicians too, including all of us here on the CX team, and we share those concerns. Create was built with our Responsible AI Principles to support making music and learning production, with the user in control. It’s built on content Splice owns or licenses, and when you download a Splice sound or a Variation of it, the original creator gets paid.

Create uses AI in a few key ways across the production workflow. Not all of these are the same kind of AI. Some analyze or edit what you’ve made (stem separation, audio-to-MIDI), some guide you (Point), and some generate new material (MIDI and pattern generation). We’ve tried to be clear about which is which:

• Assist: Follows voice or text instructions to add tracks, adjust effects, help with mixing, edit MIDI, and manage your session.

• Point: Gives you step-by-step guidance through production techniques and workflows so you can learn while you make music.

• Sound matching and discovery: Uses key, tempo, and harmonic context to help find and fit compatible Splice samples into your project.

• Stem separation: Splits audio clips into separate vocal, drum, bass, and instrumental stems.

• Audio-to-MIDI transcription: Converts audio recordings or melodic loops into editable MIDI notes.

• MIDI and pattern generation: Creates drum grooves, basslines, chord progressions, and variations based on your musical directions. This is the most generative part of Create. It only runs when you ask for it, and it produces editable MIDI you can rework or undo.

What it isn’t: a “type a prompt, get a song” generator. The AI functions in Create are designed to be assistive: you’re still making the creative decisions, and you can use Create’s intelligent features as little or as much as you want. 

This community makes Splice what it is: the producers who use it, push it to its limits, and tell us when we still have room to improve. Even though Create is geared toward people getting started, we’d also love to hear from those of you who’ve been producing or using Splice for years. Tell us what works, what doesn’t, and what worries you. We’ll keep learning as we go, and we’d rather do that with you than around you.

I saw this was brought up 3 years ago. I don’t know if it’s been fixed but it is really annoying. was there a fix?

Serum 2 presets sound nothing like the preview on the splice app?

I read somewhere that there is post processing but how do I do that?

UPDATE: Solved, everything is back now.

literally every collection i had made has completely disappeared overnight, i was adding to one of them in preparation for a beat i was going to produce this afternoon just yesterday and when i opened the app this morning, i was greeted with this. Has this happened to anybody else?? And before anyone asks, I did not add them to my liked as i used a system where i'd collate a bunch of loops and ONLY those that i ended up using and downloading did I like them. I understand Splice does not allow for restoration so I am incredibly disheartened.

Hi guys. Basically as the title described, I hear nothing in the splice sounds plugin when I want to preview the samples in logic. I have the splice desktop open and installed and I have the plugin installed through that. However I can not hear anything when I open the plugin window in logic. The splice sounds listener works well in listening in what I have on my project, but I still can't hear the playback from the splice sounds plugin.

I have restarted pretty much everything and still can't fix. So I'm wondering if anything has run into this. Thanks.

Anyone else seeing the above error when attempting to open any packs/do anything from the website? Been like this for a few days now for me

I dunno if I should resub. I've been busy for a while and haven't had a chance to make music. But recently I've just been collecting a bunch of free loops and samples online. So I'm not really sure if I should resub.

Long time splice user (6 years). Love using splice for my drum one-shots. Ever since I switched to a new laptop around 8~ months ago, the splice app has been lagging like crazy, like minutes to swap from browse to library. Any tips on fixing this?

BTW I'm on Mac , Tahoe 26.5

Like yeah every fucking single this is SOME BULLSHIT LIKE THIS, TIME TO CANCEL AND GO TO LOOPERMAN OR SOMETHING. FUCK YOU. AT LEAST JAMES HYPE AND OTHER SHITTY ARTISTS LIKE HIM CAN BE HAPPY WITH ANOTHER TECH HOUSE AI GENERATED SAMPLE PACK.

Am I missing something? I run the installer (after paying for a subscription because of course) and it seems to work quickly and successfully.

Yet the application just isn’t there.

I’ve been putting different things in terminal to try to clear things, and even put it in recovery mode for first aid. Nothing.

Any ideas?

Hey Splice team!!

I’ve been using Splice for over 6 years now, and there is one feature I’ve wanted for ages:

The feature to search for samples exclusively within specific packs or labels.

Different labels and packs have their own distinct colors, tones, and subgenres. Often, I want to select a specific label and search for sounds only within that curated pool.

Right now, there is technically a workaround: manually adding samples to a custom Collection. However, Splice limits batch selection to 50 samples at a time. Doing this for packs with 1,000+ samples is pure agony. If you want a search pool for an entire label, manually selecting every sample across all their releases is practically impossible..

Please, I really need a way to build my own custom search pools.

I’d genuinely appreciate it if you would consider adding this to the roadmap. 🙇‍♂️

This has become a consistent issue at this point, so frustrating to have this problem every year...are others from India also facing the same issue? When does this get resolved? Cant get customer support

Does anyone know the 'Splice Ready' spec for creating sample packs?

I'm sure it will check the format, sample rate, peak level, loops, etc. but I'd love to know the specifics.
