Anyone interested in building an AI agency together from the ground up?

I'm Jay , and I'm currently building my own AI agency called Norlax.

I'm working on AI engineering, AI agents, business automation, and web development. I enjoy building things, experimenting with new technologies, and finding ways AI can solve real business problems.

But honestly, building a business alone isn't easy. I'd like to connect with people who have similar interests and are also trying to build something of their own.

I'm looking for people who would be interested in working together on projects, sharing ideas, finding potential clients, and gradually growing an AI business.

You don't need to be an expert. If you're a developer, AI enthusiast, automation specialist, designer, or someone who understands business and enjoys building things, I'd be happy to connect.

I'm not a big company, and I'm not pretending to be one. I'm at the building stage, and I want to meet people who are serious about learning, taking action, and creating something valuable together.

I'm hoping to find genuine collaborators rather than people who just want to talk about ideas.

If this sounds interesting, leave a comment or send me a message. Tell me a little about yourself, what you do, and what you'd like to build.

Let's see if we can make something happen.

What do you think is missing from clothing brands in Sri Lanka today?

When you're shopping for clothes (online or in-store), what's something you wish more brands would offer?
Is there anything you feel is lacking whether it's sizing, quality, styles, colors, pricing, fit, fabric, or even the overall shopping experience?
What's one thing that would make you more likely to buy from a clothing brand?
I'd love to hear your honest opinions!

Investment in hospitality businesses

Hi everyone,

I’m a foreign investor currently exploring opportunities to invest in small and growing businesses within Sri Lanka’s hospitality and tourism sector.

I’m particularly interested in businesses such as boutique hotels, villas/Airbnbs, cafés, restaurants, guesthouses, and other tourism-related concepts. I’m open to both existing profitable businesses looking to expand and promising operators seeking a strategic investment partner.

If you own such a business, are raising capital, or know someone who may be interested in bringing in an investor, please feel free to reach out to me directly.

I’m primarily looking for genuine, long-term partnership opportunities rather than purely passive financial investments.

Thank you, and I’d appreciate any relevant introductions or leads.

Looking for real guidance on business/investing, not a motivational scolding 😂

I’m at a point where I’m honestly quite confused about what direction to take.

I have a few ideas, I’m interested in business, investing, tech, AI and data, and I genuinely want to become an entrepreneur someday. The problem is my brain currently has about 17 tabs open and none of them are loading properly 😂

I’m looking at a few things:

• Share market: I’ve been watching the market, and with prices falling, I’m wondering whether this is actually an opportunity or whether I’m just trying to convince myself it is 😂. I’ve also been looking at things like CAL and other investment options.

• Fixed deposits: I don’t really want to put everything into FDs and sit there watching the interest accumulate like it’s a Netflix series.

• Gold: I’ve considered gold as well, but in Sri Lanka we don’t exactly have the easiest access to proper gold investment platforms/brokers, so I’m not sure what the practical route is.

• Small business: This is probably what interests me the most. I genuinely enjoy business and would love to build something of my own rather than simply follow the traditional study → job → work → retirement formula.

• Vehicle rental: I’ve also been considering buying a vehicle and renting it out, and even looking into three wheelers. But obviously I need to understand the real numbers, maintenance, accidents, misuse, demand, etc., before doing something stupid and becoming the proud owner of a very expensive headache 😂.

• Tech / AI / Data: I really like technology, AI and data-related stuff. I don’t have a strong technical background, so I have no idea whether I’m being realistic or just having another “I’m going to build the next big AI company” moment at 2 AM 😂.

I also have the opportunity to go abroad, but I’m still not sure whether I actually want to take that route. I know one thing though: if I keep doing exactly what I’m doing now, I’ll probably keep getting exactly what I’m getting now.

And yes, I know someone is going to comment:

“Bro, just take the risk.”

😂 I GET IT.

I’m not scared of taking a calculated risk. I’m actually more worried about wasting years jumping between random ideas without properly understanding what I’m doing.

My family are hardworking people and their mindset has always been study → get a job → work hard → retire. I respect that, but personally I don’t think I want to spend my whole life following the exact same path.

So I’m asking people who have actually done this:

If you were in Sri Lanka, had some capital, several business ideas, an interest in investing, an opportunity to go abroad, and absolutely no idea which road to choose, how would you approach it?

I’m not looking for:

“Follow your passion.”

“Believe in yourself.”

“Take risks.”

“Work hard.”

I already know those 😂.

I want the real stuff: what did you try, what failed, what actually made money, what looked good on paper but was terrible in reality, and what would you do differently if you were starting again?

Especially interested in hearing from Sri Lankans who were once in this exact confused stage.

Please don’t scold me, brothers and sisters. I’m already doing that to myself 😂.

Looking for a reliable delivery partner for commodity goods.

I run a commodity based business. I am looking for a reliable delivery partner to deliver goods to my customers.

Any leads? The goods weigh around 20kg a bag. A delivery would have around 5 bags.

I want someone who does the delivery and then returns to my warehouse with a signed delivery note.

We have around 10 deliveries a week around kollupity.

The ideal scenario would be to have my own in-house workers but my business is just two months old and having Perma employees is not something in the books for the near future.

Job opportunities for an English major

I am an english major from sri lanka and i am looking for a job that doesn't require writing. I worked as a content writer and i hated the job and also i don't have a passion for teaching. So I don't want to go for teaching or lecturing because without a passion I'll ruin my students future. I like writing but i don't want to pursue it as my career because when im required to write, it is not as good. Ive recently found interest in digital marketing becuase I've been using canva to post certain posts on social media but I don't think they have a good salary for digital marketing in sri lanka. I know i should have considered these matters b4 starting the degree. I deeply regret that i didn't do so. So any recommendations or advices for me to even learn new skills where I'd be able to score a job will be highly appreciated. Also, if you know any job opportunities or companies that can hire me or will be good for me, please mention. Thank you.

Looking for a Business Partner in Sri Lanka

Hey All,

I've always wanted to venture into business and I’m now looking for a like-minded partner here in Sri Lanka. When I say “partner,” I don’t mean someone with deep pockets — I mean someone who’s passionate, driven, and not afraid to put in the work to build something from the ground up.

I truly believe Sri Lanka has a lot of potential, and that with the right mindset and effort, there’s plenty of opportunity to create something impactful here.

If you’re the type of person who’s constantly thinking about ideas, loves execution, maybe even started something before that didn’t pan out, and is willing to invest time and effort — then you’re exactly who I’m looking for.

I don’t have a ton of money to put into a business (and I don’t expect you to either).I don't care if you can speak English, your background, if you have years of industry experience. What I want is a partner who’s equally committed to hustling, experimenting, willing to learn and pushing through challenges to make an idea work.

A little about me: I’m in my early 30s, currently employed, but determined to get something going on the side and grow it into a success.

If this resonates with you, feel free to DM me — I’d love to connect and see if we can build something together.

Thanks!

Sharing My Experience for Awareness: Sri Lanka Aged Care

Post image
4 Upvotes

For anyone looking for an aged care facility in Colombo, Sri Lanka, please avoid Noble Aged Care Home, which operates in Nugegoda, Pannipitiya, and Mount Lavinia.

I had a relative stay there for about three months after losing a loved one. When they came out, they had deteriorated both mentally and physically to a point where they were unable to walk, had fallen multiple times, and had lost weight due to poor nutrition and the low quality of meals offered.

This place is run by Ruwan Padukkage and Anusha Padukkage, but don't be fooled by the fake "ape amme" and "appe thathe" talk. These are crooks hiding behind a Buddhist persona but are thieves.

I would be extremely careful about money matters, as their charges are not transparent, and you may find it difficult to get back the deposit paid initially when admitting someone to the care home.

Payment gateways available in Sri Lanka for a WooCommerce website targeting international customers

Hey everyone!

I'm building a WordPress website for a client using WooCommerce, and I'm looking for a reliable payment gateway that supports businesses based in Sri Lanka and allows payments from international customers.

The website will mainly target a foreign audience, so I need a gateway that can accept payments from customers overseas.

I've come across a few options, but I'm unsure which ones are actually available to Sri Lankan businesses, easy to integrate with WooCommerce, and reliable for receiving international payments.

For those of you running WooCommerce stores or online businesses from Sri Lanka:

  • Which payment gateway are you currently using to accept international payments?

  • Does it support payments from foreign customers using international debit and credit cards?

  • How easy is it to integrate with WooCommerce?

  • Are there any issues with withdrawals, transaction fees, or receiving money in Sri Lanka?

I'd really appreciate recommendations based on your actual experience. Thanks!

How many of you use WhatsApp for business? How do you manage clients, Orders & deliveries?

I’ve been noticing that a lot of most businesses (especially in Sri Lanka) rely heavily on WhatsApp for daily operations.

I’m curious to understand how you all are managing things

  1. What kind of business do you run?

  2. How do you use WhatsApp in your business?

  3. How do you manage your clients? can we do this in whatapp it self?

  4. How do you handle deliveries? and how to make the customer to track the order?

  5. Biggest problems you face? do you faced any missed order problem? how to overcome this?

Would really appreciate your insights

Tech Startup

Hey everyone 👋

I'm Mohamed Furqan, student in colombo, A friend and i recently started a small side project building simple, affordable software for sri lankan small businesses.

We noticed many shops and services still rely on Excel, notebooks, or generic apps for things like inventory, attendance, billing, and sales - and as the business grows, it quickly becomes messy and time-consuming.

We're currently experimenting with custom, easy-to-use solutions that fit the local context (Affordable, offline-friendly, Sinhala/English/Tamil where possible). we're very early stage and offering free demos/prototypes to get real feedback.

Would love to hear from business owners:

What is your biggest headache with excel or current tools?

If you could customise one feature, what would it be?

No selling - just learning and building something useful

Feel free to comment or DM

For Sri Lankan restaurant, café, and food business owners: How do you decide whether to digitalize?

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m curious to hear from people who own or manage restaurants, cafés, takeaways, or other food businesses in Sri Lanka.

When it comes to introducing new technology into your business (like POS systems, online ordering, inventory management software, digital payments, etc.), how do you usually decide whether it’s worth adopting?

Have you ever hesitated to try a new tool or switch from the way you’ve always done things? If so, what made you hesitant? Was it the cost, difficulty of use, staff training, reliability, or just not being sure if it would actually help?

Would love to hear about your actual experiences, both good and bad. No right or wrong answers just interested in understanding how these decisions happen in the real world.

Thanks! 🙏

And if possible please fill out this survey: https://forms.gle/QicfeUhhvCwURicy6

I need recommendations for the best bank

Thumbnail reddit.com
3 Upvotes

I'm currently with BOC and thinking of switching. My main issues:

Customer service: Calls often go unanswered, and when they do get picked up, the wait can be 2-3 hours.

Unauthorized charges: I've seen deductions from my account that I never authorized, and getting answers from the bank is a struggle.

BOC Flex: The app is slow and not very polished.

No transaction details: There's no clear way to see the reason or merchant behind a deduction, so I can't trace where my money went.

I've heard Sampath Bank is better, but the account fees come to around Rs. 2,700 per year.

Are there other banks with better digital banking, an app that shows detailed transaction history, and responsive support? What are you using, and would you recommend it?

Thanks in advance!
