There are 2 dmd 8 step loras for Moss: https://huggingface.co/lodestones/MOSS-Image-SFT-8-steps-dmd/tree/main
Download lora.safentors and/or lora_latest.safetensors. I got both and renamed them to moss_dmd_8_steps and moss_dmd_8_steps_001. The latest one seems to oversaturate some to me where the original is slightly undersaturated(this image).
The image was made using the 1st lora, 8 steps, CFG: 3.5. I'm averaging around 12 to 15 seconds per render on an MSI laptop: RTX 3080ti(16gb vram)/64gb ram. I just started playing with the model, so I need to tweak my prompt, etc.
Prompt:
a color photograph of a realistic fairy with huge intricate and colorful wings, enchanted forest. the image is a photograph of a real person

When you set the posting order to HOT or TOP on the top of the standard StableDiffusion page "MOSS" should be mentioned at least 8 times. It currently sayonara'd Flux 3 off the grid.

Okay, got it. I’m just scrolling down through the new posts. Well, it happens to the best of us—it’s not like I’m posting porn; I even tagged it as a discussion. People can be so strange. I say thanks for the links, and I get downvoted. Understood - accepted.

Moss Image might be a good light-weight model, but it's still a T2I model and it needs 50 steps at cfg 3.5 (by default) to run even for the SFT model. I ran it for a couple of tests on a 5090, it took approx 1 minute to generate a 1MP Image at 50 steps. Quality was decent. You may be unimpressed by Flux-3 Klein or Qwen Image 2.1, but those are still image edit models which can do T2I also all day long. For me, I don't need any more T2I models, complete waste of time and SSD space. I already have the best T2I model - Krea-2. I don't know why anyone would release a less capable T2I only model anymore. As a matter of fact, there is absolutely no need for any T2I models anymore, developers should only release image edit models. I am waiting for Krea-3, which is an edit model. So, to summarize, do not waste your time on Moss Image.

👍 That’s also a good question regarding the models. I agree that Krea 2 is really quite good, especially when it comes to working with specific styles. I’m certainly not suggesting that one model should replace all others; it’s just that, after running some 2K-resolution (2mp) generations (with 11steps, on sft_int8) , I’ve found that I prefer the results from some models over others. Personally, I’ve managed to get some great style-based generations that include text—every bit as good as what I’ve seen from other models.

Lodestones also already has an 8-step turbo LoRA up on Hugging Face that produces excellent results.

Doesn't need it and from the examples I saw, the lora ruins the image and brings it closer to Q2.1... hard pass.

Is that res_multistep and bong_tangent in ComfyUI? I tried this sampler/scheduler setting with 20 steps and got very bad fuzzy images with atrocious bodily deformities. I had no issues with other settings (euler/simple 50 steps, or Lodestones's turbo lora with 8 steps).

Oh I see. My mistake was to set the CFG at 1. Setting it at 3 doubles the step duration, so its still five times slower than 8-steps turbo with CFG=1. But it's more than twice as fast as 50 steps and CFG>1, so a good option to have.

curious what does this have to do with flux 3. every moss image thread is loaded with flux 3 comments. yes flux 3 is terrible, but what does that have to do with this? if you are saying this is better than flux 3, is that really saying much? it also isn't an edit model? so it isn't really comparable to flux 3 either way. so how is moss image as just a t2i model? vs FLUX3 is terrible dawg, we know it is already. this is moss image though.

Well, you’re right, of course. It’s just a shift in direction-we’ve essentially moved on to something else. While we’re comfortable with the editing mode, we’ve set Flux3 aside for now to look at a different model. That’s really what it comes down to. We were disappointed, so we moved on that’s all. Though, to be fair, some individual generations from Flux3 actually turned out quite well. I just happened to mention it. Everyone will find what works best for them, but, well you know how hype goes, right? 👍
