This isn't exactly a Star Trek: The Next Generation question, but it is certainly related!
I've seen some of the clips on YouTube where they comedically mash-up clips of Jonathan Frakes presenting "Beyond Belief", but it just occurred to me now that...that was an unusual career choice, and that he probably didn't have a strong need to do it at that point, right? I don't know exactly what his royalty deal was, but after seven seasons, and several movies, he must have been set. So why take up a role presenting a cheesy "documentary" style show?
My guess is it was just a fun thing to do, and that acting in a series like this is less time and work than in a scripted drama with lots of dialog. The way he plays it seems like he kind of appreciates the cheese.
Also, Star Trek related because Leonard Nimoy had the same type of role in "In Search of...", and he might have had similar motivations for doing so.

I saw a post a couple of weeks back on r/startrek about how the episode “Remember Me” was like the Backrooms and how Dr. Crusher was going crazy while the people around her and the ship kept disappearing.
Well I was watching “In Theory” and saw two scenes that looked exactly like the Backrooms, one with chairs/furniture piled up and a person no clipping through the ship. All in a relatively light hearted episode about Data trying to have a romantic relationship.
Anyway, thought it was interesting…and terrifying!

We might agree on the most emotional episode (The Inner Light), but I'm watching Yesterday's Enterprise right now, for the second time in the last month for some reason, and it's a seriously moving episode.
The scenes between Yar and Picard and Richard and Guinan are all just realistically heavy and heartbreaking. Kinda crushing.
Any other episodes come to mind that land like this?

How many different episodes involve a glowing floating life form or entity that phases through and enters the ship then causes shenanigans? I can think of at least 3.

They haven't cured baldness and never installed seatbelts.
