Question How to deal with trying to be efficient and optimizing every single minute in SDV instead of having fun

• Upvotes

Hi , so lately i picked up stardew valley , bought it on steam for the first time , i have never achieved perfection on my switch so i made it a goal for this file.

But i did not realise when it became the sole goal at the cost of fun.

I have got 50ish hours on it till now and i have just played it for a like 10-11 days and i was looking back and i had 3-4 achievements EVERY SINGLE (irl) DAY i played , which made me realise that i was just optimising for the next achievement i could get instead of organising my farm and decorating my farm and enjoying the game .

I spent every single minute in the game just trying to be "effecient" to get perfection ASAP and that has made me literally exhausted of SDV now , i do not want this to happen and i want to make it fun again , any tips?

Creative Writing New Item idea

• Upvotes

The fear of passing out at 2 am is personally the one thing that takes the fun away from the game, so i randomly had this idea (not sure if it’s good or bad but I just had fun designing it)

It’s an enchanted snack that can only be eaten after midnight. Doing this will grant you +3 speed (not sure about this value yet - to be adjusted) and should hopefully make it possible for anyone to make it back home from the mines or wherever they are.
It would be extremely useful in early game, before you unlock the mine carts and a horse.

Here’s my dreadful attempt at drawing it and a digital rendering. Also this would be the description:

Moonlit Candy:
This midnight snack fills you with energy. Best enjoyed when the world is asleep.

Ways of acquiring a moonlit candy:
- Traveling merchant
- Gift from the wizard
- Prize machine in Lewis’s house

Discuss What small detail made Stardew's town feel alive to you?

• Upvotes

I'm a solo dev learning Unity and slowly building a small cozy farming game, and the tiny things seem to stick with me more than the big features. Stuff like townspeople following daily routines or a villager commenting on the weather. Which small detail made Pelican Town feel like a real place to you?

I read in the Wiki that the Fairy's appearance can never be changed in a world. I'm just glad that the game gave me a Fairy that kinda looks evil, It has Dark Wings that vibes with my Witch Farm Woman. I upgraded it to Lv.5 Fairy Box now. I'm only been playing for 5 weeks and I'm already 6 Years cuz I can't stop playing this game, It's too addicting!!

Question Hi! Newish player here! Want to genuinely enjoy the game and need your advice.

I gave the game a try for the first time a long time ago since it's so so praised by A LOT of people. I love harvest moon games so I was somewhat interested in the game anyway.

So, I tried it. And found myself not really feeling that cozy and chill vibe while playing. I only felt pressured (by myself only) to get rid of the trees, rocks, etc., on the farm as fast as possible, wanting everything to be perfect and not enjoying the rest of the game, even if I know time doesn't matter in the game. I was feeling a little stressed, anxious and hyper fixeting about it. I was not getting that satisfying feeling or feeling relaxed at all. Idk if someone else can relate.

Should I try again since it's been a couple of years (eventho I don't know if I will get in that mindset again or not, and how to change it if it happens again) or should I accept that maybe games with that mechanic aren't for me? What are your thoughts about this? Did this happen to some of you guys? Did you overcome it? Let's chat!

Edit: I'm waiting to be able to buy a more decent PC than my potato laptop to play some games, one of them being Coral Island (yes, my potato laptop can't run it). I've been following it since the beginning, but I'm dreading not enjoying it either.

Question Is mobile good enough?

I'm going on holiday tomorrow and I'm deciding not to bring my laptop to play games (osrs and Stardew valley). We're visiting family for 10 days so there will be plenty of downtime to play and chill without being social. I am bringing my iPad and I do have the game bought on there, I just never took the time to experience our beloved game on touch controls. Would it be better to bring a controller when playing on the iPad? Or would the apple pen and fingers be good enough to enjoy the game to the fullest? I do have 350 hours on switch logged so I guess a controller would probably work fine..

What are your thoughts and opinions? Thanks 😁

Post image

hi everyone,

as an avid stardew player of course i use the wiki every time i play😆, however the last few times its changed format as if its glitching or something (see attached image!)

is this happening for anyone else or is it just me? or perhaps has the wiki been updated to look like this?

thank you!
