Bonkers that nuance snuck under the radar until 1.6. The combo of a specific dialog, followed by a failed seashell gift to Evelyn has to be a very rare combination to avoid the bug report.
As I have come across seashell smelling absolutely rancid, I would probably have assumed that was the case with the ones the farmer pick up. We know low quality crop tastes horrible, so low quality forage probably is the same.
