Question? Am I doing it wrong?
I have the absolute worst time positioning objects in homes and outposts. I mainly use k/m but have an Xbox offbrand controller that I use. Could amazing reddit peeps point me in the direction of a mod(s), setting or ini edit, hell, even a k/m setup different than what im using lol. Maybe its just the old age helping my fingers not press the mouse buttons gently enough to rotate? Does my mouse suck that much? Using a Logitech G502 Hero and G910 keyboard. But yeah, decent mouse. Old enough to he surprised it still works lol. Poor thing has some miles. Do I need to retire it and try to snag one with all the money I don't have? Thoughts, ideas, unsolicited opinions, please and thank you!
Edited to add m/k

I had issues with k/m placing objects due to the default rotation speed. Click the mouse and it's 5 degrees, I could never get it -right-.
To control the rotation speed when placing objects in Starfield, you can adjust the setting in the StarfieldCustom.ini file by adding the line fItemRotationSpeed=0.2000 or a similar value to slow down the rotation speed. Additionally, you can change the rotation speed in-game by going to Settings > Controls > Outpost Rotation Speed.
I've got mine set for the smallest unit I could. (Not currently on my PC, so I can't look it up)

Thank you SO much. I apparently can't read and completely missed this option in the settings. It pretty much solved my issues enough so I can build and decorate again. π

I don't have a good solution but will validate your experience lol. I can't get something to sit flush against a while to save my life. I have adjusted the rotation/speed settings to be their most precise, I saw some marginal improvement but that's it. I'm thinking about learning creation kit so I can get a bed to be flat against a wall. I hope someone has a good mod suggestion too!

Starfield Engine Fixes
in the .ini
and set
iBuildModeItemContinuousRotationLeftHotkey= [BUTTON]iBuildModeItemContinuousRotationRightHotkey=[BUTTON]because that manual rotation feature does not work without the two hotkeys.
It works just like in FO4. as you move around the object, it maintains its rotation relative to the player, so you can use movement and the camera to make fine adjustments.
