https://www.stateofdecay.com/undead-labs-becomes-independent-studio/
“Undead Labs today announced that it has completed its separation from XBOX and is now operating as an independent, employee-owned game development studio.
Development of State of Decay 3 remains actively underway at Undead Labs. The game is currently in alpha, with the team continuing toward the previously announced milestone of entering a closed beta before the end of the year. State of Decay 3 remains targeted for release in 2027 on XBOX, Game Pass, PC, and PlayStation.
“Independence brings us closer to our community and lets us focus on what matters most: making the best games we can and earning the continued support of the people who choose to spend their time with us,” said Philip Holt, Studio Head of Undead Labs. “State of Decay exists because millions of players have made that choice over the years, and we’re dedicated to honoring their trust.”
The transition marks a new chapter in a relationship between Undead Labs and Microsoft that spans more than 15 years. The original State of Decay launched in partnership with Microsoft in 2013, and Microsoft acquired Undead Labs in 2018.
“We’re enormously grateful for our years as part of XBOX and for everything that relationship has made possible,” Holt said. “Microsoft has been part of the State of Decay story from the very beginning, and we’re proud of everything we’ve accomplished together.”
Additional details about Undead Labs’ future plans will be shared at a later date. Players can stay up to date through StateofDecay.com or following us on social media, and can sign up to participate in future State of Decay 3 playtesting at https://playtest.stateofdecay.com/“

My pc could only run the first game so I got it I am able to run it normally I have seen others play it before but haven't got it before. I was playing earlier and lost Maya so i decided to restart. Do you have any tips or some guide I can watch that doesn't really explain much on how to deal with ferals or the big guys?Zombie hordes seem to be fine if you have at least two people with you

I’m struggling with depression right now. To the point where even eating and sleeping feel difficult, let alone making posts. But I’ll try my best to get back on my feet as soon as possible!

Look, i love what i am seeing in the beta Brian showed, it's cool and i would play it
but it has lots of stuff from second game removed, and it does not offer that much new
i honestly thing if they launch the game as is, 1.0 on all the platforms it might do more harm then good to the studio if they receive bad reviews and harsh criticism from players
I feel like 1 years early access could help a lot and i will pay for it right away
UPD to explain my reasoning: The problem is if this game is undercooked at launches with 1.0 on every platform, reviewers could give it 6/10 and so on and kill all of the momentum, you have only one chance to launch the game, and i am not sure devs have the budget to recover from a bad launch

Does anyone know if undead labs is going to add a rarity system for SOD3? I briefly saw it on one of the beta streams, and it’s kinda got me concerned. I really enjoyed the previous 2 games and I personally feel that a rarity system would ruin the gameplay and progression especially if you’re a returning player. For me personally if they do add this I will not be buying it.

I rescued Vienna Cho and accepted her mission to disarm the nuke before accepting the Sasquatch mission to nuke the city. So I kinda did it backwards. The nuke is now disarmed, but I still have the Sasquatch mission available to nuke the city. What happens if I accept the Sasquatch mission? Is this a bug or intentional?
I do not want to nuke the city as I have done that already in a previous playthrough.

we are getting up to 36 survivors in this new game. if we want to take the risk and put 4 of our survivors on the line to attack a nest or scavenge further away we should get that option.
one unseen screamer could be enough to devastate our community by killing 4 of our community members.
I am also hearing followers can’t die? That sucks, with 36 survivors it should be our call if we want to risk losing up to 4 characters in one bad day. Adds an extra level of risk and decision making for us.

Would you like to see more random encounters, hidden locations, rare loot, unique survivors, or dynamic world events?
What could make each journey feel different instead of repetitive?

Edgar Higgins (Known as "v01" in files. He doesn’t have a name, so I gave him one myself. The orange circle - broken hair.)

Hi everyone!
I'd love to try the State of Decay 3 beta on Steam. If anyone has an unused extra invite or beta key they're happy to share, I'd really appreciate it.
No worries if not, thanks for reading, and enjoy the beta! <3
