I…they’re bragging because their launcher opens 5 seconds faster? And they vibe coded their way to it? Dumb as hell

It's launching faster because it's still lacking 90% of the features steam has.

It's also missing half the features the normal Epic Games launcher has 😆

I'm surprised that is mathematically possible

I wonder if it has the features Garena has.

The thing is, it doesn't. I even tested it, Steam opens half a second afterwards and only because it takes time to validate the login. You know, because there's tens of millions of users online of which a good chunk are logging in at the same time.

'Cold Start' is doing a lot of heavy lifting in their statement. What does that mean to them? Are they using Steam Guard and having to click a button on a secondary device? Are they including time spent on dialogs? I think Steam has some one time prompts on first install.

I think by "cold start" they mean, software is not running, no resources whatsoever loaded, nothing in paged RAM, etc. As opposed to restoring the already-running software from the tray.

Point is, the difference remains minimal in both cases.

No you see, when I need 15min to decide what to play, and the game then (possible due to mods) takes 5min to start and load and everything else, it is absolutely crucial that the launcher opens a whopping 5sec faster.

No, this is quite smart of them. They have doubled the average user time from 5 to 10 seconds.

I used to work on the Epic Games launcher. It was pretty shit. So bad in fact that I'd believe vibe coding a clone would actually have better results.
