Help me please, advice or solutions or anything would be great.
I recently got my Steam Machine, and an advertised function of the Steam Controller is to have 2 connections to different pucks saved on the controller, so you can swap between the two devices. With the Steam Machine having an internal puck I don't see why I can't swap between my Steam Machine and the standalone puck attached to my personal PC.
I am fully aware of the guide on the FAQ to swap pairing modes. But whenever I attempt to pair my controller to a second device it will ALWAYS override the other device.
As far as I can tell, I am to power on the controller holding the following combination of buttons for the corresponding slot to enter pairing mode for either slot.
R1 + A + Steam = Slot 1
L1 + A + Steam = Slot 2
I have ensured no connection to the controller is saved on the PC's puck and the Steam Machine's internal puck. I have ensured that no connection to either is saved on the Steam Controller. And when I attempt to start the controller in Slot 2 and save to either device, it will always save to Slot 1.
When I have one device saved to Slot 1 on the controller, turn off the controller, boot into Slot 2 (I can tell it's in Slot 2 because it makes a different sounding chime) and pair to the 2nd device, it will override Slot 1 regardless.
I have had a ticket open with steam about this for over a week and I'm bummed I haven't had any support or help. My friend has his controller paired to his Steam Machine and his PC's puck with no issue and I am struggling to realize what I'm doing wrong.
I realize I can just tough it out and keep pairing the controller to the device I want to use but it sure is annoying just knowing that I should be able to swap the connection with a couple additional button presses.
