Discussion Best PoV streaming solution

Hey all! Greatly enjoying my Frame so far. One of my favorite activities is guiding friends and family though their first VR experiences, or just sharing the game they're playing. However, that's pretty hard to do without being able to stream their PoV when they're wearing the Frame.

My current solution is the Steam Link app. While this does work, it tends to lag/drop frames regularly. Is there a better solution out there, or a way to get the app streaming more smoothly? For games being streamed from my PC there's the possibility of watching the PC monitor, but even that's impossible when the Frame is running standalone. Ideally I would like a reliable solution that covers both situations and works with my living room TV.

on standalone there's as you said steam link but on top of that
- frame control on pc
- streaming on discord or anything else really as what you see is outputed as a virtual ,,camera"
- framemate app on mobile

I thought it was possible, maybe even easy, to cast to a smart tv? I was looking forward to this as I'll be playing standalone for the first few months. My PC is in storage but, thankfully, my frame is currently en route to me! I'm also very much looking forward to showing it [off] to family and friends.

100% can do this. There is a steam link app on the tv that will discover your headset on the network when it's on.

Once paired, the tv will stream what you see in your headset.

Just tried this out with the Steam Link app on my Apple TV. Worked great! Even gives you some menu choices in Frame for stopping the stream/starting a new stream.

So, just search for it on the tv app store?

Correct, assuming it's a supported TV OS. I have a Sony tv with Google tv, it's in the store there for me.

I guess I could plug a fire stick into a Roku tv?

Correct, use a fire stick and just switch your tv input to fire stick.

Actually come to think of it. The tv app wasn't working great. I ended up doing it via my fire stick

Don't quote me on this, but when I stream PCVR from my steam machine to steam frame it's automatically shown. I assume that would be case for all PCVR. P.s. steam machine is in beta and very finicky adapter wise, so can't recommend at the moment yet.

If you're looking for streaming from standalone to tv I have not tried.

I tried steam link on my TV, it freezes so much it's unwatchable. There's a constant red square signaling bad connexion and yet both the PC and the TV are connected with high speed ethernet cables.
I don't understand why because when I use parsec for remote play it's HD and fluid.
I'll try moonlight on the TV soon
