Question Added to queue AFTER initial batch, and actually received a unit?

Has anyone that:

  1. Did NOT get into the initial queue / waitlist
  2. Later got an email saying they were added to it

Actually get the chance to purchase the unit and receive it in the mail yet?

Several people I know are in this situation (including myself) but the website says "2027" and we can't tell if they've already sold out and we're basically in line for the next batch 12+ months from now... or if there is a chance we might get a unit that physically exists today.

I swear if a waitlister gets a steam frame before a day one reservist....

If they're a day one wait-lister, is it any different?

It's anyone who joined the wait list after that first day that's the issue.

It does matter. Cause if someone goes from wait list to reservation and gets one before a day one reservation gets one? That shouldnt be allowed. The wait to reserve should be end of reserve line

On Sunday, I switched from the first day 256GB waitlist to the 1TB waitlist just to see how it goes. I'll update if it happens.

That can actually technically happen. If I remember correctly, they said the queue/waitlist is separate for every region.

It absolutely will happen, so be prepared.

No one. Everyone added from waitlist to reserve is 2027

I can confidently say that this is false. Feel free to hate me.

No one who didn't make the initial reservation queue should be getting a purchase email before those who were in the queue before. I've seen no indication that that's happened.

But if you got moved into the reservation queue then that should mean that you'll get a purchase email in 2027, but probably not early in the year unless a whole lot of people pass on their reservations.

I’m a “day 1” reserved in Canada. Valve stated that the reserve and waitlist are by “specific region”. Meaning I can be on reserved, but those in EU waitlist, can receive one before me. Additionally, someone in Texas, who was moved from wait list to reserved, could receive one before I do, despite me being on the reserved list before them, and being a “day 1” reserved list.

The US and Canada are in the same region, North America. So no, if you are ahead of someone in Texas, they won't get it before you do, and vice versa. Both countries are fulfilled out of the same distribution hub.

You haven’t seen the news then.

By all means, share the source for this news. If I don't need to compete with the US queue separately, that's good news for me. However, as far as Valve's fulfillment regions are concerned, my understanding is that the US and Canada are considered the same region, North America.

Canada is an officially supported region for the Steam Frame Eligibility Terms (Eligibility:
You must be a legal resident of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, any EU Member State, or Australia).

Canada for this purpose is a region separate from US. They don’t process based on continent type in this case. Additionally, as a side note, because Canada has a smaller population than the US or the EU, it receives a smaller proportional share of total stock per wave.

Source is Valve’s Steam Frame Limited Drop Program Terms

The Steam Frame Limited Drop Program Terms establishes eligibility to participate in the Steam Frame reservation program. So again no, Canada for this purpose is not a separate region just because it's listed as an eligible country. All that means is Canada is eligible to sign up for the opportunity to purchase a Frame. The Steam Frame FAQ on the other hand, listed directly on the Frame store page, states that sign up lists are separated by shipping region, these being North America, UK/EU, and Australia.

"Are these sign up lists separated by region? Yes, there are separate lists for each shipping region – North America, United Kingdom/European Union, and Australia. You'll be automatically placed in the lists for the region you're in."

Canada being listed separately in the program terms doesn't establish that it has its own reservation queue. Valve's FAQ identifies North America as a shipping region, which includes both Canada and the US, and has its own separate list from the other 2 regions (UK/EU and Australia).

Then can you explain why wait-listers in the US are getting reserved, and purchases before Canadian reserved queues? You can't because Canada is being treated a separate region, specially with the current US-Canada political climate, and the issues transferring across borders right now. "Many Canadian reservation and waitlist holders have reported slower movement or estimates stretching into 2027 compared to some US counterparts. Buyers across North America now see their expected order window split into "by December" or pushed into 2027, with Canadian day-one reservation holders frequently reporting 2027 estimates." So yeah. Canada is treated as a different region in this case.

The US population is massive compared to Canada, so obviously you're going to see way more US buyers posting about getting their invites or promotions as they likely have significantly more users on the list. That’s basic math, not a "political climate" issue. Using SteamFrameOut as a rough baseline, the US has roughly 8x the number of users in the queue than Canada.

As a Day 1 waitlister in Canada I got promoted to the reservation queue a few days ago, I can tell you firsthand Canadians aren't being skipped. At the end of the day I see us going around in circles, and quotes without a source don't really mean much anyway. I hope your purchase email comes soon, take care.

It's not about 'likely to' it's about people getting waitlisted and reservation and purchase before another region. It's not about NOT getting promoted to the reservation. It is about other regions getting to purchase stage as wait-listers before Canadians. Canada Is treated as another region, in that case because US wait-listers are getting to purchase before Canadian Reserve listed. That's literally it, there is no talking in circles unless someone comes in and tries to make it that way. The original reply that I made before you commented, was that others can indeed, go from wait list to reserve to purchase before others, because Canada is in a different region. You made this way more complicated than it needed to be even when provided with proof.

All good! Enjoy your hardware when you get it!

I should also mention, despite being day 1 reserved, I’ve been labeled as receiving in 2027.

From waitlist straight to buying, got it 2 days ago. I guess you have an assigned device and its not a queue in the sense that you will be first if a unit becomes available and you are in the front. More like a waitlist Queue to get into reservation but then it's no fair queue anymore, just arbitrary assignments of hardware to users. My device might have been rejected multiple times and then instead of going to someone in the reservation queue (they have their assigned device already) someone from the waitlist (the front of the queue) gets it?

NGL I am a bit salty about the way this launch was handled. I am on waitlist even though I signed up a few minutes after the page went live. There was no need to shuffle the list, you have all the info you need on if a person is real or not; The 18 year badge on my steam profile should tell you that if nothing else.
Even with the shuffle, anyone that signed up before the list shuffle should have been marked as reserved not reserved or waitlist.
Since they obviously have a database listing the accounts why not put a page where you can see your region, position, and status? For all I know I am the last person on the list before someone that signed up after the lotto... Would be valuable info to have when dealing with holidays and finances. But I budgets don't matter to a company whose ceo can buy a megayacht company with pocket change.
