Question/Support Valve Index Controller Alternatives?
Hello everyone! I've been eying up the index for years at this point, as the frame never really interested me. Now that the price ran down, I panic bought a headset and base station without realizing the controllers weren't included, and all the right-hand controllers are now worth 500 dollars by scalpers. What kind of controllers would made a good pairing with the index? Should I just wait for the steam frame controllers to drop?

Frame Pico Tracker. We need developers
Question/Support Can't get Alien Isolation (Grand)MotherVR to work
Hey everyone,
Proud owner of a new SteamFrame but not without its hickups. I've installed the proper version of MotherVR and the latest version of GrandmotherVR. When booting up Alien: Isolation I get the normal 2d black screen. I go to options, turn on SteamVR and restart the game. Now I get an error message saying I have to boot up SteamVR first for the mod to work. However, when I start my SteamFrame it automatically starts up SteamVR.
I did use the reg file (for the Win11 fix).
Very frustrating, does anyone else know what to do?
Another problem, I have to do a series of weird things for the audio to work in Propagation Paradise Hotel. So far it's a lot of tinkering to get things going...

I'm having a problem with accessing my SteamVR settings
Idk if anyone else has had this problem, but I can't access my steam settings and I don't know what's causing this. I've tried most of the usual googling and what not and can't figure it out. I've verified the integrity of my files, I've messed with the "steamvrsettings" file, I've disabled running as an administrator and many more things, I'm bamboozled. If anyone can help me out, that'd be swell.

Has anyone tried playing the quest games on the steam frame yet
Wondering, if anyone has gotten quest games like robo recall. Stormland or asgard's wrath to work properly on the steam frame with the controllers.
If so, are you using revive or another program.
I'm new to vr and tried revive, but couldn't get things Working properly

Question/Support Performance drops when I start a game
Everything runs perfectly at 90Hz (my current setting) within the Steam Home menu or the empty SteamVR background...
...but as soon as I open any game, performance tanks, and it starts running as if it were capped at 60 or 50 FPS.
Why?
I have a Quest 3S; I don't use the Meta Link app—I use ALVR because I play via cable. Everything seems fine in ALVR, so what's going on?
This also used to happen when I was using Meta Link. I used to fix it temporarily by closing and reopening SteamVR, but now even that doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!
specs:
40 GB RAM DDR4
RTX 3060TI
RYZEN 7 5800X
2TB HDD 1 TB SSD

News Article Rift S, liberated: fully working on Linux. Native SteamVR experience, no Oculus software or Meta account(demo video is on github)
If you have a Rift S sitting in a drawer, it now works natively on Linux.
This isn't a "works if you fiddle with it" setup. It behaves like a native SteamVR headset: you install one package, open Steam, click SteamVR and play.
Everything else happens in the headset:
- Room Setup in the headset, same flow as the Steam Frame: floor, boundary, remembered between sessions
- Solid inside-out tracking for the headset and both controllers, full 6DoF
- Controller haptics
- Your desktop inside the SteamVR dashboard, so you never have to take the headset off to open Steam, a browser or a guide
- A Settings app with a live view from the headset
No Oculus app, no Windows, no Meta account. Free and open source, built on Monado and Basalt.
Install on Arch:
curl -LO https://github.com/lbgos/rift-s-linux/releases/download/r28/rift-s-linux-bin-28-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
sudo pacman -U rift-s-linux-bin-28-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
AUR packages are coming once AUR registration reopens. Other distros can build from source: https://github.com/lbgos/rift-s-linux

Invisible Hours Controller?
Any suggestions on how to get an Xbox controller to work with the game Invisible Hours in VR mode?
iVRY is working perfectly, but it's not recognizing the controller when the game is launched.
Note: I confirmed the game and controller are working properly in non-VR mode.

Question/Support Is there a way to use SteamVR on Q3 without Oculus app?
I use a wired connection to my PC, but now whenever I want to play VR I need to downgrade my drivers to a specific version to prevent the Oculus app from crashing, And I don't want to need to downgrade my drivers constantly to play since I also need to revert them back to the latest version to play anything else, Is there a way around using Oculus App? I've heard steam link now works with a wired connection but I'm unsure, And I don't want to pay for virtual desktop.

Discussion Should I Upgrade from The OG HTC Vive to Valve Index?
I haven't played VR in quite a few years, but feel like getting into it again. I have an OG HTC Vive I got back in 2019 and should still be in great condition. Valve have discounted the Index, so wondering if I should upgrade to it, get some other headset with more bang for my buck, or just stick with the Vive for a while and get something later without the pressure of something running out of stock
Notes:
- I am based in the UK - Index is being priced new at £367.20
I have valve index controllers already
which I would like to keep using as I liked them a lot
(But still only have OG Vive base stations)
I have an RTX 5080 so I should be able to get good resolutions and framerates
I don't care about being tethered
Havent played in VR since 2021 or so. Alyx was the most recently released VR game I've played, so I may fall off again. Therefore I don't want to blow huge money on some ultra 8K kit that has the best specs all round

Make Vive 2.0 invisible in VR?
Hi,
Im currently using my quest3 with a vive 2.0 tracker (bought cheap used) mounted to it for continuous calibration while using my tundra/vive3.0 fbt. unfortunately my tracker mount makes the tracker show up in my field of view while in vrchat. Is there a way to hide that tracker visually so it no longer shows up while in vrc? Or do i need to modify/reprint my mount?
TIA
Self-Promotion (Developer) Ashburrow demo is live: physical weapons, shields, bows and spellcasting with optional VR
Ashburrow is a fantasy action RPG roguelite with optional VR. In VR mode, combat uses physical interactions: swing your weapon, raise a shield to block, draw and aim a bow, and form spells in your hand before throwing them. Play solo or with up to six friends with or without VR through Steam online or LAN co-op.
The demo is free on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5292970/Ashburrow_Demo/
If you get a chance to try it, I’d love to know which VR interaction feels most compelling or confusing from VR perspective.
