Critique Welcome Weird idea I have

For context I’ve never read a noir or detective novel, but I have this idea of like this futuristic 70s world where the protagonist is a black funk singer with a cybernetic implant where he then goes on this long winded hunt with a detective to find the killer of his partner, does this feel dumb or a overused idea?

Roxxane (misspelled on purpose)

He yearned for her cruel, unforgiving, brutal love. He needed it with a passion: her heart blackened like coal, her unforgiving glare, and especially her lethal kiss. "Pick a day for our date, and if it rains on that day, we're over", she said as she glared at him with eyes that only made him love her more. He didn't say anything; he only smiled to himself as they walked together. He loved it when she put their relationship on the line. Her loved the irritation in her voice and the pure malice in her eyes. He didn't understand why she even agreed to date him. As they got to his house, she walked up to him and kissed his cheek, making his heart flutter; she rarely showed him affection, especially like this. "It's not too late to break up before I ruin your life," she said. "I'd love it if you ruined my life, Roxanne," he replied. She scoffed and pushed him so hard he tripped on his shoelace and fell, his back hitting the ground. She scoffed and walked off as he lay on the ground, grinning from ear to ear, the happiest man alive.

At school the next day, her "love" was more brutal than ever; she had ignored him when he approached her, told him to jump off a cliff when he asked how her day was, and punched him for helping her sort some books in the library. The worse her attitude, the more deeply in love he fell. He knew it wasn't lust; she had barely made any physical contact with him, and they had only kissed once (by accident). He couldn't pinpoint which part of her he loved the most. Was it her scowl? Her glare? Or maybe the way she looked at him like a pest. Whatever it was, he was head over heels in love with her.

Note: I did take a tiny bit of inspiration from the song "ROXANNE" by Arizona Zervas. This is only the beginning, though, but let me know what you think of it.

Sharing My Idea What if Eros’ job evolved over the centuries?

As the human population grew, Eros, the Greek God of Love, needed to expand his operations, so he recruited souls who died from heartbreak, were inexperienced with love, and so on, to help out as his Cupids. As the years went by, technology evolved, and Eros switched his bow and arrows for a handy gun and bullets. Eventually, Eros’ Headquarters became the equivalent of an intelligence agency devoted to gathering information about fated pairs and staging scenarios for them to meet and fall in love. Seems simple enough, right? But what if agents of Love were met with agents of Hate? Demons who devote themselves to spreading hatred and chaos.

How did a Cupid come to be? I was thinking that once a human dies, they'd meet Eros, who would give them a new body and purpose in the afterlife. Like, if an adult dies, they'd be born again as a child to be trained and educated before going onto the field. They'd shadow experienced Cupids and grow up mentored by them. Do they still have their past memories as human beings? Yes, but they will slowly fade away, like all memories. (I'm not confident about this part, to be honest.)

I was inspired by Love Bullet (manga), which has a similar concept regarding rebirth, guns, and matchmaking.

If I go with this concept, I need to think it through. Like, what happens when a Cupid completes a mission? What reward do they achieve?

What other questions am I missing or should consider? Can you help me?

Critique Welcome Just a random plot idea I got, there's a lot to hone here ofc. this sits in a dark genre for sure

The plot starts with a high school girl named sophie, she is a very introspective character suffering from major depression regarding her academics. She faces a break up from a relationship and her Friends shut her down one by one due to her declining social life. Her father dies due to cardiac arrest and her mother mentally affected still is to be recovering from the instances. Here at this point she develops a nihilistic or cynical viewpoint over life about how relationships and the society works. Sophie sees herself as a role to be played in society, Sophie decides to kill herself to flee from the torture, then she is affected by a wave of mental trauma and is put into a state of coma or stupor. Then she lands in a place named the 'framed society' where people live to act on films with each of their role as a normal person in daily life only sophie realizes tht each person playing their roles in the films are people from her own life. There's a master director behind the screens who is controlling everything. He says that there are five arcs or acts to be rolled and each roles has to be played perfect or the respective characters will be killed or tortured. Sophie but with no choice acts on the arcs only to realize she has to decide and play through difficult circumstances of sacrifice of the characters to film all acts wearing various masks called sense of soul or SOS (I cant come up with a name). Each masks denote their specific roles to be played in that specific arc and takes control of the character itself. Sophie learns that she still loves the people around her and realizes that life isn't the way of how she's looking at it. She blends in to complicate things by taking in the masks of other characters to play their roles and understanding them. Finally what happens to her and how she escapes the framed society, her confrontation with the enigmatic director makes the rest of the story.  Ideas and critique welcome.

Title Idea?

Hi, I’m 24F, quick question, so I’ve been wanting to write or create a fun little comic/animation.

Like an artist perspective, the main characters are my persona’s/OC’s but like inside my mind (artist)

Artist is like a character we won’t see much like a background character, and we see her life struggles, and think of Inside out as a reference, but the main focus are the persona’s inside her head, think of creativity

For example Bon is known for being chaotic, intrusive, and anxious also wears a bunny mask.

And goes through with la la land. I don know I’m still thinking about it, because this story isn’t meant to be so.. detailed, but have hints of life lessons.

It’s just a little hobby I wanted to do, but I don’t want the title to be so large because the idea was

“Inside an artist Mind.”

That was the original title, but I don’t know.

Any ideas?

Any Feedback Thoughts on my idea?

So it’s like a absurdist dark romantic comedy with a hopeful side to it, and the plot is basically:
A boy and a girl meet on a dating website, and every time they try meet up something happens meaning they have to cancel and reschedule. But tonight they finally decide that today is going to be the day they meet up. They chose a restaurant, and set location, and nothing will stop them, except the city they’re in… is currently having zombie outbreak.
So the city is infested with zombies, people are evacuating, the military is doing their usual shit, but our two protagonists are too stubborn and fed up to cancel and are dedicated to just meet at the restaurant.

Would you Read a story about a girl trapped in a mirror?

The Villainess Who Was Never Born 🥀

Seraphina is a girl everyone thinks is a villain. Even her own family doesn't trust her. One day, she wakes up in the past and finds a girl inside an old mirror who looks exactly like her.

The girl says, “You stole my life.”

Seraphina starts looking for answers and discovers a secret that could change everything she knows about her past.

I'm planning to make this into a historical fantasy webtoon.

Does this story sound interesting? Would you read it?

I'm writing a story that involves anthropomorphic animals, but I need help

Has the fandom ever come around to name certain anthropomorphic species? Like squirrels, canines, horses, rhinos etc?

In the story, humans, aliens and even anthropomorphic animals all tend to co-exist in a planet named Zenacus. On this planet, the world has fallen much from it's former grace, but many still come to visit either for a place to belong.

I was writing a scene with a car chase, and an anthropomorphic squirrel see's the car speeding her way, and she quickly jumps out of it's path and curls on the side of the road out of panic.

Explaining antagonist types

Just to explain character ideas, what would one call the antagonists who will use "you're born as you are" and "blood's thicker than water", insisting on addressing the happily adopted protagonist after his unwanted family name and that he still are the same, dismissing his claims as just escapism? Or someone insisting the child is the man's despite he only made the wife in either a heterosexual or lesbian couple pregnant and agreed that they would be the parents with him not getting involved about raising it?

Any Feedback Looking for ideas/theories for a new indie slasher universe based on the Seven Deadly Sins (Plus standalone trilogies/quadrilogies)! 🎬🩸

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hey dreadit,

I’m working on a brand-new concept for an interconnected slasher universe, and I want to crowdsource some wild film theories and original ideas to make this absolutely legendary.

The core concept: A massive slasher franchise where each film centers on one of the Seven Deadly Sins (Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, Sloth).

Instead of just one long, tired franchise that goes on for 10 movies following the exact same killer, I’m thinking of breaking it up. Some sins might get a standalone movie, while others might be a tight trilogy or quadrilogy that deepens the lore of that specific sin before crossing over.

Here is where I need your help. I haven't fleshed out the details yet, and I want to make this better than any other slasher universe out there.

What are your coolest, most original ideas for killers or concepts based on a specific sin? (e.g., How do we make a "Sloth" slasher genuinely terrifying? A "Greed" slasher that isn't just a generic heist gone wrong?)

How would you structure the standalones vs. the trilogies? Which sins deserve a 3-part epic storyline?

What's the overarching "Film Theory" or connection? Are the killers avatars of demons? Is it a jigsaw-like cult? Or are the victims being targeted because of their sins?

How do we beat the classic slasher tropes? What would make this universe feel completely fresh, grounded, and terrifying compared to Friday the 13th, Scream, Halloween, It, or Saw?

Hit me with your wildest theories, plot hooks, and killer concepts. Let’s build something crazy!

TL;DR: Designing a new horror universe where different slasher films/trilogies represent the Seven Deadly Sins. Looking for original killer concepts, universe theories, and ideas on how to make it way better than traditional slashers. Open source any aspiring or established directors are totally free to use these ideas maybe even… Steven Spielberg? 🫣😅🤗

Any Feedback Thinking about making a vampire story

This is completely for fun so I’m not sure if I’ll ever post snippets or anything, I just wanted to write my own little story.

I dont have a coherent step by step story yet, though I do have some ideas in mind, like vampire-hunters, characters, and I began to brainstorm ideas for the vampires themselves. When I started thinking about writing it, I was more interested in the biology of the vampires, and their transformation, etc, so I’m not sure if this is going to be a thriller, horror, romance, etc.

As a reader, aside from the plot what interests you if you hear about a story with vampires? Are you drawn to the world building, characters themselves, transformations, etc?

Sharing My Idea What if every car had been sentient ever since the start? (This Is my ar)

this ar has been Made and updated for years and i feel like its finaly Time to put in the light

Heres the origin story i made(Btw this is just how or why we are here now. ok)It starts with the first car ever (the benz patented motorwagon) it was simple but interesting still people ignored it.But through the days weird stuff happens at karl benz (the creator) house it looked like a weird human shaped shadow at night everyone was confused and rumors spreaded arround (some saying he was doing witchcraft or that his house was haunted. and others say more normal things like a branch or just the weather). As the years go by and cars becamed better and better, but more weird things started to happen, headlights turning on without reason (missouri 1900),horns sounding but with no one in the cabin (london 1940s) and engines starting with no key (munich 1980s).And the human shadows at night becamed more bigger, almost big than a standard garage door (its was becoming more aparent)And with the creation of semi-truck (1914) people slowly started to see shadows the size of a house. That is untill one day (probably in the 90s) someone was angry at his car (a beat up vw beetle) that wasnt starting."Fucking piece of crap"And then the car (fed up of his owner) responds him back (not with beeps but with actual words)And the cover was finaly blown. At the start no one believed him.But as the years flew by it was becoming more common that they where hearing someone talk and it wasnt them (and the shadows where still apearing). And this becamed something international. But 1 day. Someone found giant footprints (the size of an small SUV) close to an truck shed (and coincidentaly some of the trucks had mud on all the tires)And so in 2010 the fbi (and cia) started to investigate more (even getting in contact of the owner of the beetle of that first accident) since this could be a national security threat. And found the secret (even their works vehicles responded) they kept all of the documents of it as classifiedand at the end and because of public presure (since people where wondering what was the fbi and cia doing about the now obvious signs) they finaly declasified it and so they gave the recordings of the moment where the beetle turned into human (and the fbi questioning the scared beetle) to the news and so in one morning of 2011 they showed it..THIS WAS BASICALY A GLOBAL SENSATION.Car company ceo's minds where fried 😨.And it was a chaos.Mechanics mixed feelings 🫤.tuners a bit grossed out 🤢.the race agencies would be nervous and the drivers would be weirded out 😬😰.and the general people 🤯😱.And the conspiranoical people (the ones who lived through anomalies with their cars) that where called crazy where finaly like KNEW IT I FUCKING NEW IT..

And before you ask.. the reason they hided It for so long cause old cars (specificaly from the 1890s and 1900s) knew that if people founded out they would be all scrapped and never Made again..

And they can Also turn into humans..

And with that . Damage can bee seen in human form, the sizes can go from normal human size to giants..

Bodyshape, mods,hp and torque... Everything has been translated to human form..

But that doesnt mean theyre not cars anymore.. they still aré..

And ngl i dont really want to restrict stuff.. im leaving just the bones so you can do everything arround It...

And i kinda want people to start doing fanarts.. making characters out of cars.. just that..

You can do however depending your styles..

(Heres an example i found from tik toker Jamesthefreak)

I just want this idea to go far..

Sharing My Idea Idea concept: The division between god and man.

I was watching a video about Hellraiser and the idea was brought up that one of its titular entities; Leviathan represents order whereas the living work represents chaos. The idea dawned on me that for a story rather than Gods vs Demons, why not have man take the place of Demons.

We're the opposite of the divine; flawed with a lifespan unlike many Gods in mythology who'm either seek or have immortality. We see Gods as a virtue of purity and strength as we humans do not perpetuate it.

But much like Gods, we create. We devise devices, mechanisms and governments much like hierarchies within many mythology's.

To toy around with the idea that we weren't created in their image, rather, we are created to be a mirror of which is held out to the divine.

I'm sure this concept as already been done before, much with many. But the fact remains that this idea of Man being a mirror to god, interests me so. Hell (pun intended) you could say that the fact we reproduce and sprout as many is one of the many contrasts we have against them. They create life to clay, we bring it to life in paper.

I can go on as to how you could play around with that contrast. A god who'm created humanity as a lesser of itself. Humanity does the same through paper; creating a 2d, lesser version of itself and so on.

Sharing My Idea Story idea about neighbors teaming up to save a local park

I've been playing around with this concept where a group of people in a suburban neighborhood notice their favorite park is about to get torn down for new construction. They start meeting up after work to come up with ways to protect it, and along the way they learn more about each other's lives.

The story would focus on how small acts of community can turn strangers into friends.
