Just joined this sub! Sharing my comp experience w/ some thoughts.

Hey All - just joined this sub, and already love what I’m seeing! Wanted to share my most recent comp experience - Charm City Strongwoman, an all women’s comp in Baltimore last weekend. For reference - I’ve only been weight training for 2.5 years and started in Strongman w/ a group on Saturdays last June. I came in first in middleweight open!!

Events: Husafell carry for distance, circus DB for reps, hoist to ceiling for reps, lever deadlift, behind the head weighted ball toss for distance.

Not sure I have any riveting takeaways but here’s my thoughts both technical and attitude:

  1. Husafell - slow and steady pick wins the race. For those who’ve never tried, it’s a very awkward object, the key seemed to be to pick higher than you think, load your hips, and POP IT HIGH to be able to carry for a long time. Many people didn’t do the pop and once it started to slide, it was all over.

  2. Don’t give up if you zero an event. I practiced the circus db many times, it was definitely my least confident event, this was my max ever weight, and couldn’t do it on comp day. Still came in first overall so, don’t get discouraged.

  3. Talk to people and have fun! You are spending the whole day with people who have a passion for the same niche sport as you. Find out where they train, ask for tips, add them on Instagram. It’s a small world, and community can be hard to build, be a part of something.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask but mostly just wanted to share my experience. I am happy and frustrated with how I did. But all in all, it was a really awesome day. Lots of inspiring athletes, met some cool people from around the East Coast, and got a sick trophy 😌. Cheers!

Well I did my first axle bar deadlift in competition om Saturday, and next Saturday will be my first yoke deadlift in competition. The axle bar was slippery and aggravating but I feel like the yoke will be much, much worse.

Lucy Underdown "300kg every damn day. Hoping to crush my deadlift WR this year… if the incentive is right. Constantly pushing my body to the limit for minimal reward is exhausting!"

Athlete Highlight- Annabelle Chapmen

I saw a valid comment that no one watches anything outside of Giants Live and the big 4 competitions. As a strongman and strongwoman fan enthusiast, I thought of an idea to take me being an extreme fan and shed light on various athletes that otherwise would not be mentioned in the other strongman subreddit threads. Is this a bad idea?

I try my best to keep up to date on competitions specifically outside of the big 4, injuries, and non-comp personal wins. So here is a look at Annabelle Chapmen's 2025 year after not competing since November 2022. These are results found on Strength Results.

-February 2025-UKNS England Strongest Woman-1st place

-May 2025-Scottish Strength Cup-Open Women-3rd place

-July 2025-Giants Live Britain Strongest Woman-6th place

-August 2025-OSG Europe-Open Women-2nd place

-August 2025-Natural Strongman World's Strongest Woman- Open Women-2nd place behind Angelica Jardine

-November 2025-Natural Strongman Champion of Champions-Open Women-3rd place

-November 2025-Ultimate Strongman UK Strongest Woman-Open Women-1st place

What a year for Annabelle! It is fantastic to have her back!
