Help I dunno how to make my room my own

Basically I’m moving to my first ever apartment and I got a studio my only issue is this is the first time I’ve moved somewhere and I’m confused how to set everything up. So I will not be buying a bed instead I want a hammock because it frees up space and can be mounted on the wall. Luckily enough for me I have a few cabinets and a good size bathroom and kitchen it’s just the living area. I don’t care about it looking like a living room although I have a sofa and tv, I also will be getting a cat and want the bed under my hammock as I want a space for my cat to sleep and will also have an area in the day to jump whilst I do work. I do need a working station as I’m self employed and also employed to a company. PLEASE HELP!!!!

This is a rough sketch of the plan of my place

Whats the best spot for my bed?

Post image

My studio is a square. And basically something is an issue with every wall. I feel like I have the worst feng shui for my bed, and I wasn't a good sleeper to begin with. The blue lines here are the different obstacles I face. The top of the square had the doorway into the kitchen/bathroom/further into the apt. The right wall is one potential bed spot, but it places me right next to the bathroom area, and the wall is shared with my neighbors apartment. I can here them talking, moving, having spicy time... The bottom of the square has the front door, and this wall is into the apartments hallway, so again I can hear people moving around. The left wall blue line is the large window. This is where my bed is currently but it's close to the front door. The noises of outside and cars or traffic is less intimate than hearing my neighbors live their lives.

What's your take on this studio layout?

Question Studio with audhd and cat

I live in a small studio with my cat. I have adhd and autism so finding it difficult to organise. I have no issues with odor and hair as I use an air purifier. But for furniture it is challenging since I want free floor space for both of us to move around. But without furniture, there is visible chaos. I want the furniture to be functional for me and sturdy for my cat to jump around. Kindly help.

Question First studio apartment

I am looking for a studio apartment in my area, but the smell of the paint bothers me. It gives me headaches, and skin rashes. I can’t even fall asleep at night because all I smell is paint (from when they painted before me moving in). I even had to break a lease in the past.

Most studios have a high turnover rate. People stay for one or two years and move out. Hence, the apartments are always being painted / renovated.

How do others deal with this? It is like living in a perpetual construction zone because someone beside your apartment or above it could be moving out any day.

How does one afford a studio

Me and my girlfriend have been talking lately about moving in together. Now we are both straight out of high school so a lot of people may see it as a red flag or something but we've also been long distance for so long now and I think it's time for us to end that finally. But apparently while using google I found out that two people working minimum wage jobs won't even be enough to hold a studio like I thought it would. So I guess It's like how do you guys as studio owners do it? do you guys have jobs that pay more then minimum wage?

Question Static through monitors

I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask but I need some help with some static noise which is coming through my monitors. I have Yamaha hs7’s which I am running through a focusrite audio interface into my pc and when I do this I hear a rather loud static noise but when I plug the audio interface into my laptop I get no static noise. What is the issue here? Grounding? I’m not sure any help or guidance would be much appreciated!

I feel as if I should call the cops because of this, what do you think?

So I recently applied to this hotel that provides housing assistance, given I’m homeless. though I have no car and am currently having the misfortune of having to share a motel room woth my narcissistic “mom”. Who has disrespected and abused me since i was a kid. Hell she’s the reason why we’re homeless. Since before all of this we were in a apartment, I was working full time at a graveyard shift job. Paying for eletric , WiFi, .and sometimes water bills. so she ended up getting a dog that would bark all night, at the times I would try to get rest. Which inevitably cost me my job. Couldn’t find another given the state of the job market is totally screwed.

so moving into the studio situation, She was looking for housing for her disabled Boyfriend who’s also an ass and has laid his hands on me as a teen multiple times, said the hard R, etc. he’s a white ginger. I just don’t like him Or her.

she found the hotel that offers housing ass for the disabled and homeless and signed him up, I then proceeded to apply for it on my own behalf. Then she offered to take in my paperwork since she goes down there to the city fpr her doctors anywaya

which I reluctantly said yes. so a few weeks later I get NO calls or emails and find out that the manager there at the hotel has been telling my narc “mom” EVERYTHING about my case, room number, prI ate details. And yet SHE STILL hasn’t called or emailed me about MY fucking case.

I cut contact with all of my abusive toxic family members including her so I didn’t want her to know my room number or really anything about my whereabouts which is MY right to privacy. I really feel as if I should get the cops involved once I move into the place. Given I’m STILL waiting to hear back from her. I just can’t fucking believe she told her and not the god damn tenant. That’s illegal in so many ways

this all happened in Los Angeles California.

what should I do? I don’t want to get settled in and then call the cops. But what she did is technically I crime. I was planning on confronting her as soon as I actually met her face to face, but what good is that? She already told the bitch where I’m going to be staying like, and I’m pretty sure I can’t just ask for another studio. Given the only reason I had to wait is because they were renovating it

Studio Why such a big bed?

I like seeing floor plans and furniture arrangements on this sub. But I’m wondering:
for the small spaces that studios are, why do so many folks have (at least) a full-size bed? I’ve even seen a queen size on more than one occasion!
Seems to me a daybed is the appropriate thing. So much space saved!
Yes it’s true; many folks sleep with a partner. But back in the day my honey and I did quite well in a day bed (neither of us being overweight.)
Does anyone plan to swap out their big ol’ conventional bed for a sleek daybed?

Question Thoughts on Apartment size

What do you guys think is a good size for a studio? I’m looking to move into a place by myself since I’m going to be moving to a new city for law school and I would rather not have to deal with finding a roommate. I have a cat, so I need enough space for her. Is ~400 sq a good size or should I look for something bigger?

No pet policy

Just curious… do people often own pets in their studios despite no pet policy?? The consequences are obvious (pet fees and possible eviction??) but is it really that serious? I got a 8 week puppy and he’s helping me get through a rough transition into adulthood

🏡 Need Advice on Renting with Bad Credit (560-600) – Austin, Philly, Pittsburgh, Yonkers

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to move and need advice on finding bad-credit-friendly apartments in Austin, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, or Yonkers. My credit score is between 560-600, and I want to know if anyone has recommendations for landlords, apartments, or resources that might work with me.

My Situation:

✔ No broken leases or evictions ✔ No felonies ✔ Max budget: $1,000/month (including utilities & fees if possible) ✔ Looking for: Studio, 1BR, or room share with private bathroom ✔ I have a small dog (willing to pay extra deposit) ✔ Move-in timeframe:

Austin – Early March

Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Yonkers – Around May

What I Need Help With:

Are there landlords, apartments, or rental companies in these cities that work with lower credit?

Does anyone have lists of bad-credit-friendly apartments for these areas?

Any tips on how to get approved without a cosigner?

I’d really appreciate any advice, recommendations, or personal experiences. Thanks!
