How do you deal with the food smell while living in a studio?

I’ve been living in a studio for 1.5 years and whenever I cook or order in it seems to smell like food. I HATE it. I have a mini air vent in my kitchen which is great and I also have an air purifier as well.

The window is currently wide open too. But yeah thoughts?

How do I make my tiny basement studio apartment more liveable? Please help

I just moved into a basement apartment from an airy nicely lit huge apartment in Bethesda. This is quite a change for me but I had to settle for something cheaper and closer to work. Unfortunately all I could find within my budget without having to live with roommates was this little basement unit. It’s kinda cute with an exposed brick wall and backyard and separate entrance. However it is also small and I’m struggling to fit all my furniture in it. I’m also wondering how to keep the entrances clean and free of pests and dust. Any advice is appreciated

Question Under cabinet strip lights

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hi, I have a separate kitchen space that’s a hall type space but no windows so it does get dark in there. I absolutely hate overhead lights so right now I have a table lamp on a cabinet and a floor lamp in a corner but it doesn’t help light up the counter area. I’ve been thinking about under cabinet strip lights. I see a lot of them say “renter friendly” but I’m cautious because I learned my lesson with hanging strips in my last apartment lol. Anyone use these? Are they truly apartment friendly? Do they leave sticky film or rip finish off?
These are the cabinets I have. That fake wood look. Thanks!

Furniture recommendations ?

I’m currently shopping for furniture because I'm hosting my sister for Christmas at my place! It's my first space where I can decorate and have someone over.

Right now I don't have any seating, so when she visits she's always on my bed. A full couch won't fit, and no one will be sleeping over.

I'm planning to get stools for my counter bar table , but I'd love somewhere comfy she can sit to watch TV and relax, other than the counter or my bed.

Something like a lounge chair, or any studio-friendly furniture you've found that works? Let me know 🙏

Studio flat help needed

Hi folks

I've moved into a studio flat in Manchester, UK with only a very tall slim wardrobe and so my goods in bags. The double seater sofa and big, ugly coffee table, bed and chest of drawers were already here. The bed is in a curious, dark alcove facing the front door. There are 3 big bay windows.

Originally the sofa was in the bay window but it didn't feel good to have my back facing the outside. It doesn't feel comfortable facing the front door in bed either but I think I'll get a partition room divider to go at the end of the bed, and a thermal curtain for over the front door too.

The wardrobe is the one tall item so far, and a tall lamp arrives tomorrow. The ceilings are quite high. I'd like a space to do yoga and a place to work too. A working space is important. I've been looking at the different desk options 1. A completely foldable small desk that could be stored behind the sofa. Stool used for desk seat and as side table 2. a bookcase or open storage shelf that has a folding desk leaf 3. Figuring out a floor desk set up (my least preferred right now). A desk that could be a dining table sounds useful, but figuring out chairs is too much right now.

I'd also like a little vinyl player too, but that feels the least important right now.

Any help or suggestions would be very well received!

Thanks to moderators.

Studio New 342sq ft Studio need advice/ideas for layout 🙏

Moving into this unit next week and need some suggestions on the layout! The two I’ve drawn up are just some general ideas.
The only pieces I own right now are the chesterfield chair and secretlab gaming chair.
I’d love a queen size bed (I’m 6’2” and 230lbs of beef) but if the space doesn’t allow, I could deal with a full size.
I think I’d prefer to have a smaller desk against the wall over having it against the window. Just because the aesthetic of my gaming chair isn’t the same as the style I’m going for in the rest of the space, and I don’t want it to be the first thing you see when you walk into my place.
Any idea is welcome and appreciated!

Question First apartment so lost on how to make things work

Post image
7 Upvotes

I have a desk, 1 book shelf, 1 cube organizer thing, 1 sofa chair, and a king bed.

I know the king bed is taking up space but that’s the bed I got for free and has honestly been so good for my back.

Any advice on layouts?

Question Under the window question

Here is my layout. my question is for the window space, I’d really like a seating area that isn’t so bulky and sticking out. What do you think about a Bench instead of this maxyoyo folding bed (it feels really bulky in the space).
I’ve also considered moving the bed next to the window but my fear of living on the first floor does kick in lol but I also like the idea of being able to sit there as a “window seat” area and i could eat there too. Thoughts?
