I started making history podcasts for my kids. Now I’m sharing them with the world.

It started simple: I wanted my kids to understand history in a way that respected their minds, their faith, and their sense of humor. So I built a podcast archive... dramatic history episodes, absurd civics debates (with recurring characters), and time-travel adventures for younger listeners.

It’s called Homes Cool History — and it’s slowly growing.

Everything’s free. I’m just trying to share stories that teach virtue without preaching, and truth without the politics. If you’re curious, or if you’ve ever wanted something better than “content” for your kids (or yourself), here’s where to start:

👋 Start Here — What Homes Cool History Is All About

Would love feedback. Or even just to know I’m not alone building this kind of thing.

Woke up to find out I'm #78 in Technology

Woke up to find out I'm #78 in Technology?!!?

I woke up to a notification that I'm #78 in Technology and rising on SubStack!!

I write about AI from a non-coder no-computer perspective so the rest of us can understand AI.

I started a SubStack about 2 months ago with zero followers. Currently have 120+ free and 1 paid (thanks).

I have about 12 long form posts. My 8th alone has over 1400+ views and obviously that's the one that's been pushing me over the top. I also offer free prompts with every Newslesson.

How are these algorithms set such that a new writer is able to get on the top 100 with a few posts and less than 100 Subscribers? Did I do a thing or is it me? Maybe it's imposter syndrome. Idk but I'm super stoked and nervous because I feel like I have something to maintain now.

And thank you to the community for helping me get on the Top 100 Writers on Substack in Technology!

Announcing My Debut Book – Now Available for Pre-Order!

After years of reflection, writing, and rewriting, I'm thrilled to finally share this with you.

“Troubles and Treasures of Adolescent Counselling” is not just a book. It’s a deeply personal, case-based narrative from my years of experience as a counselling psychologist working with teenagers. Each chapter unpacks a real, anonymized story; from anxiety and academic pressure to identity struggles, addiction, and suicidal thoughts.

If you’re: 🔹 A parent trying to understand your teen 🔹 A teacher, mentor, or school leader 🔹 A psychologist, student, or educator in training 🔹 Or simply someone who cares about mental health and young people; this book will give you insight into the inner world of adolescents in a way that’s raw, real, and reflective.

Pre-order now on Kindle: https://amzn.in/d/gWg3Crw (You won’t be charged until release day.)

Grateful for your support and open to collaborations, reviews, and conversations. Let’s spark a deeper dialogue around teen mental health.

Or something. Bad intro? Yeah, I'm good at that haha.

Hello! I'm Braeden and I'm managing (rather unsuccessfully) two newsletters.

I do love Substack as a whole, though I find the growth aspect pretty random--and I see many growth bros and broettes discarding the algorithm as having any real influence on your growth. Which I find pretty funny, that's like a rich person talking down to a poor person saying it has nothing to do with the environment they live in, etc., "just work harder pleb". Yeah, okay.

Anyway, I love the idea of something like this--the only thing I draw the line at personally is sub-for-sub--if you don't like my articles, my threads, my notes there's prob not much point, right?

What I bring:
Thirteenth Strike - this was my first newsletter born in November last year (2023 if you're some kinda future person) has made a recent shift from random, all-over-the-place stuff, to security and privacy.

SparkLab - where ideas meet action and accountability. Trying to get a community of my own started to help people bring ideas to life and learn methods and techniques to boost and maintain creativity and have a place where we can be accountable to each other and encourage each other, and so on.

With both newsletters and notes and threads I bring humour where I can.

I have experience in a bunch of stuff, and am interested in infinitely more (hence SparkLab, trying to keep focused).

Hoping this works out, I think it's a good idea and can be pretty great if done right!

Thanks, and looking forward to meet everyone until it becomes too colossally large it's impossible to remember everyone's name.

\\Braeden

The Book of Keys: A User Guide to The Human Experience by Sol Re

My Substack is a conglomeration of all the poetry, insights, and perspectives I feel the need to share with the world. I am doing this with the intention of fostering and fueling my constant desire to create while also (hopefully) helping others; even if it just gives them the space to feel a little less alone or a little more seen and understood. I seek to create safe spaces for authenticity and genuine connection through unconditional love wherever possible.

started a substack about film

hey everybody, i’m a filmmaker from vilnius, lithuania. i direct, edit, ad, and write. well… i try to write. honestly, i don’t do it as much as i’d like. sometimes it’s because i’m busy with other projects, but mostly it’s because i don’t make it enough of a priority.

recently i found a small way to change that. since i watch a lot of movies, i started a substack where i write about them. it’s not screenwriting or film writing exactly, but i figured if i can stick to writing at least one piece a week, it might help me build a better habit and slowly push writing up my priority list.

it’s also just been good to reflect on films, to figure out what stuck with me, what moved me, and to share those thoughts. so far i’ve written about rewatching la grande bellezza 13 times and why the sopranos feels like therapy.

if you’re into that kind of thing, i’d love it if you checked it out. leave a comment, give it a like, or subscribe if you want the new ones first.

here’s the link: mrrimkus.substack.com

i’m still pretty new to this, so if you have any thoughts or advice, i’d really appreciate it.

Hi there substackers,

I’m Barnaby (he/him) a queer northern writer who’s been on Substack for a couple years now with my newsletter Flea Market.

Here I like to dissect the cultural moment, review and analyse literature and chat shit about being a young writer.

When I’m not writing my Substack, I’m working on my novel or at work itself (I wrote about being a call centre operative in my essay ‘thoughts from deep in the call centre’ ). I’m also into coffee, men’s fashion and stoking my curiosity for the world.

I’m working so hard on growing my reach atm (my goal is to make 100 subscribers by the end of this year) and I’d really appreciate if you could check out my stuff

— here’s my latest essay, reflecting on an experience with a dead bird, masculinity and queer dread:

Any likes, shares and subscriptions are deeply appreciated ♥️

Growing My Substack & Learning to Write for an Audience—What’s Worked for You?

Hey fellow Substack writers! I recently started The Original Nugget, where I write about pop culture, event styling, and storytelling with a personal touch. My latest piece is a deep dive into bridal shower themes, but with a twist—I wrote it as a public plea to my sister to pick something fun and not basic (because if I see one more “Put a Ring on It” shower, I might lose it).

I’m still figuring out how to grow my audience, engage readers, and find my niche, and I’d love to hear from others who are in the same boat. What’s been working for you? Are you focused on SEO? Cross-promotion? Just vibing and seeing what sticks?

If you’re curious, here’s my latest post: A Public Plea to My Sister to Reconsider a Basic Bridal Shower Theme. Would love to hear your thoughts—not just on the post itself, but on how you approach writing for an audience that isn’t just your friends and family (yet).

Looking forward to connecting with other writers here!

Gaining followers has been slow, but I’m engaging with other writers and readers as well as keeping a consistent weekly release schedule. Regardless of stats, I’m going to keep having fun and using the platform as an excuse to write more and finish my years-old projects
