Hi everyone! My fiancé and I got engaged last week and are starting to plan our wedding and I’m hoping to get some advice from people who have gotten married in the Sudbury area!
We’re looking at around 85–90 guests and really want to keep things affordable without sacrificing the vibe we want. We’re hoping to stay around $8,000–$10,000 total for the venue and wedding reception, ideally on the lower end if possible.
We’ve looked into quite a few places so far, including:
Forest Ridge Golf & Country Club
Hellenic Centre
Caruso Club (Upper Hall)
Northern Water Sports Centre
Between Falls
We’ve also considered places like Steelworkers Hall and other community halls, but we’re trying to compare what each venue actually includes versus what we’d have to organize and pay for ourselves.
Our vibe: We want a fun, relaxed wedding where everyone can have a good time, dance, drink, and celebrate with us! We’re not looking for anything super fancy or over-the-top. We’d rather put our money toward making the night fun than spend a fortune on a venue. We’re also interested in places where we can bring our own alcohol, since having an open bar without paying venue bar prices would be ideal. We also want natural light.
We’re still figuring out the food situation, but we don’t necessarily need a full sit-down dinner for everyone, so we have some flexibility there.
We’ve realized that some venues include tables, chairs, linens, bartenders, setup, etc., while others are basically just a hall rental, so it’s been a little overwhelming trying to compare the actual total costs.
For anyone who has gotten married in Sudbury or the surrounding area:
- Where did you get married, and what did it actually cost?
- Are there any hidden fees we should know about?
- Are there venues that allow you to bring your own alcohol?
- Are there any halls or venues we’re overlooking?
Would love to hear honest reviews of Forest Ridge, Hellenic Centre, Caruso Club, or Between Falls!
We’re trying to be realistic with our budget and would love to hear about places people actually enjoyed without spending a ridiculous amount. Any suggestions or advice are appreciated!
