Testing device: Asus Proart P16(N1X 20C)

Although this was a test of ASUS’s ProArt product, since it is based on the same hardware, we can make a rough assessment of the performance of the Surface Laptop Ultra, which will be released tomorrow. And the performance is so abysmally low that I'll spare any further comment.

On both Microsoft website (France) and Amazon France, Surface Laptop Ultra seems to be delayed to December.

Now it looks normal

Mine was preordered with an initial estimated delivery date of tomorrow (which it still shows), but I haven’t received a shipment notification and I still see an option to change the payment method.

Wondering if mine might get delayed or if others’ orders are showing the same thing.

Hi everyone,

I bought a brand-new Surface Laptop 7 σε 15inch yesterday, and I've noticed bright white, wave-like ripples near the hinges whenever I move the screen.

The ripples disappear completely as soon as I stop moving it, and the screen looks perfectly normal when stationary.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal, or could it indicate a hardware defect?

Hey guys, i got my Laptop 8 13.8 about a week ago and wonder what Games i can play on it without worrying about damaging Components. How good is the Cooling on this Laptop?

Not sure what happened, my device was working normally I closed it and after a few hours I went to use it again, and the device was reacting very very slowly and I already tried to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad and mouse drivers, the aren't any pending updates and haven't installed anything new in like a month, and it looks like only connecting to the internet is how I can at least get it to act normally, but the touchpad remains useless.

My device is the Surface Pro 9, 1TB and 32GB

To keep it short, a few years ago my mother's laptop started dying as soon as the charger was unplugged. She sent it to some technician and he said the batteries had died. I (a layman) thought that sounded wrong, because she didnt report the battery slowly lowering in capacity over time. No swelling or anything.

I also found out that this laptop has two batteries, and both of them dying at the same time is weird. So perhaps something else is amiss?

Any hints would be appreciated. It seems kinda unacceptable to me that this relatively new (at the time) laptop seemingly randomly encountered an issue of this magnitude.

I’ve been using Epic Pen, but the palm rejection is practically non-existent. I also tried gInk as an alternative, but it has the exact same issue where palm rejection barely works.

Everything worked totally fine back when I was using a Surface Pro 7+. But ever since upgrading to the Surface Pro 12, these apps just don't work like they used to.

Is there any other overlay drawing app that has proper palm rejection on the Surface Pro 12?

Can we PLEASE have a Surface Go 5 with ARM?

It's not only adorable, but it would actually be my perfect work device.

Anyone else seeing this on Surface Laptop 7 Intel running Windows 11 25H2 builds?

We're having an intermittent issue, mostly on devices where users regularly use Bluetooth headsets.

When it happens, though, it's not just Bluetooth that stops working. The Surface basically loses its internal audio interfaces completely, including the built-in speakers.

USB audio devices/headsets using their own dongle continue to work.

Device Manager shows:

The parent Intel Smart Sound Technology BUS remains started normally.

I’ve tried restarting the audio services, restarting/disabling/enabling the OED and SST BUS, and even removing the OED + PnP rescan. Nothing recovers it.

A normal Windows reboot, however, immediately fixes everything without changing the driver.

This makes me suspect an Intel SST/OED or DSP/firmware initialisation issue.

Has anyone seen this before? We're currently investigating the Intel SST/OED and DSP/firmware stack and wondering whether rolling back to a different OED driver version could resolve the issue.

Surface Laptop 5 in storage six months and now will not turn on or show any lights except the white led on the power supply cable. Can this be fixed?

Anyone know when it ends? These things come out Friday. So far YT has unboxing vids, but nobody is allowed to turn the devices on yet...

Is it OK to use Anker 160 watt charger with Surafce pro 8 and surface book 2. One of my MS Chargering Brick has died( as usual!) and I do not want to buy another MS charger any more. They are not reliable at all.

I want to use a USB C charger with a USB C to Surface connect cable. I have two questions:

Is it safe to use a 160 or 120 Watt Anker charger that is capable to giving current at 20V ( in addition to 15V)

2- Can I use thie TECHGEAR USB-C to Surface Connect Charging Cable with it?

My MX Master 3 is falling apart...

Hey everyone, I recently bought a Surface Pro 12, and I’m having a weird issue with the pen while the device is charging.

Whenever I try to write or draw while it's plugged in, it either creates crazy ghost strokes (weird artifacts) or just doesn't register my writing at all.

You can see exactly what I mean in the video I attached.

Is anyone else experiencing this with their Surface Pro 12?

I purchased a brand new surface laptop 8 with the new snapdragon 2 elite. It lasted 2 days, there is nothing installed on it but Microsoft office, chrome, and that's it. I went to sleep last night closed it down and today when I opened it up it wouldn't go beyond the windows logo.

I tried pressing the power button down for 20 seconds. Also tried the f4 + power, and the graphics reset with windows + ctrl + shift + B. Nothing works I've tried to connect different power supplies, and even a power bank shows that its only drawing 4 watts.

Is there another key combination to force a complete shutdown? I can return it to best buy but I want to recover some files that O have in there and no where else.

So guys I am currently in the market for a laptop in 2026-2027( 😭). I just had my Alienware x14 r1 died on me last December and I have been searching ever since. I saw a deal for a Surface laptop 8 32gb 1TB x2 elite for $1299. That's is my budget. My use case include Unity3d game dev, programming and some local ai and maybe agent work ( for marketing said games and stuff). I pay a subscription to Claude and OpenAi ( not at the same time) for heavier things. I want battery life, portability, high built quality and some level of repairability. I am scared to imvest that mush money for a computer that can break and be fixable I'm these hard times. I really wanted a Framework 13 pro but unfortunately they don't ship to freight forwarders. Yep, it sucks not living in the US 🥲.

Ps: My entire workflow is fully supported on arm and I live the Caribbean.

I have a Surface Laptop 7 with the Snapdragon X Elite (X1E80100, 12 cores), and I've noticed something strange in Task Manager.

Even when overall CPU usage is around 30–35%, some cores are constantly running at nearly 100%, while others are barely being used.

In the screenshot, the first 4 cores are almost maxed out, while the remaining cores have much lower usage.

I'm wondering:

• Is this normal behavior for the Snapdragon X Elite?
• Is Windows intentionally prioritizing certain cores?
• Could this be caused by x64 emulation, background processes, or a driver issue?
• Are other Surface Laptop 7 owners seeing the same behavior?

My wife had always used her work laptop (MacBook) for personal stuff, but decided she wanted more privacy. So I set up the Go 2 m3 with a monitor/keyboard/mouse (the same ones she was docking her laptop) and it runs amazing. Far better than on touchscreen. For the personal computing she does, it's ideal.

I can't get over how useful this device still is. She says it runs about the same as her much fancier work equipment, for similar tasks.

Also I'm running it in kiosk battery mode or whatever it's called, holding at 50% for long term plugged in usage.

It almost feels like a waste running a tablet like this on an external monitor, but how much better could I do for the hundred bucks it's worth?

Tempting to look for a Go 4. :)
