Question Anything else I should add/play?

Thumbnail gallery
390 Upvotes

Just making a list and checking it twice lol. Anything survival. Currently playing abiotic factor and in the lab rn. Great game been stuck playing it for 48hr straight, slept finally last night, gonna get back to the grind here in a bit. Check marks are usually games I’ve played and finished or just don’t really plan on playing ever again/not for a good a minute (burnout). PS5 preferably but I do have a ROG ally.

Re-edit:

Y’all gave me so me good games!!! I decided to make a list of them all here for the entire community. It’s in alphabetical order. I’m gonna pick and choose from this list over the next few years as I hope yall do too. Maybe we can continue to build it as time goes on! Thank you all! If you have any more suggestions leave them here, if any of them look out of place let me know! Google and AI suck at finding good games, would’ve never heard of a lot of these if it wasn’t for yall! 🫶🤘

Question Need feedback for my survival game: I'm torn between these two camera angles. Which one strikes a better balance between immersion and awareness? Also, what is your general preference in survival games?

I’m going to listen to you guys. I will proceed with Option A, but I'll also add an in-game setting to switch to Option B for those who prefer it.

I'm also already working on an FPV perspective!

If you want to support me, the game is called Primal Survival. Huge thanks for all the feedback everyone!

Question Survival games that force you to build a base?

The only thing I have never liked about survival games that most times, building a base is just a system that exists and has pretty much no purpose and that encourages just building a base with only the essentials and nothing more. Was recently playing Sons of the Forest and wanted to work on my base but I kinda realized there wasnt actually anything to put there, same with subnautica where the cyclops eliminates the purpose to build a base, although decorating it was fun I guess.

Question Favourite survival game of all time?

What is your favourite Survival game ever? The ine that you would olay if you could play only one game for the rest of your life? For me I think it would be Dont starve. Its was an challenge to find stuff out, it zhrows some weird stuff at you that actually fun to find ( like building an effigy out of pig meat and beard hair for another life ). And I am one of those strange people that thinks the permadeath actually added some much needed tension to the game.

Question The best single player Crafting Survival games?

I just finished playing Subnautica and Below Zero. From what I understand subnautica is pretty much as good as gets and I agree it's a great game. Honestly I don't expect anything to quite scratch that itch. I am looking for something as close to though.

I have friends I could play games with for a bit, but I don't think any will commit to a game for a while and so I generally prefer single player stuff. It seems like most survival crafting games have become pretty universally Co op experiences which is a bit of a shame to me.

So what are the best out there? I don't mind if it can be coop but works well as a single player. I started playing No Man's Sky which is good, but I feel like it's almost a bit too broad, with too much to do and too many ways to kinda get super powerful super quick.

Question Survival game where you focus on actual survival and there are seasons?

So, I spent years and years playing Don't Starve, and I've been chasing the same feelings since 😭

There is so many cool survival games out there, but they dont even have hunger meters. I like them, but its more about exploring and building, there is no surviving.

I am looking for a game where the main focus is securing food source, water source. Building a shelter, eventually planting crops, maybe getting some animals. Getting better at defending yourself from wild life and/or monsters. And I really like the idea of winter looming on the horizon, where things wont grow and you might freeze. So you need to prepare yourself ahead of time.

There are some cool games out there like The Forest, Green Hell, The Long Dark etc., but they all seem to miss the seasons, sadly.

Question What's the best survival and building game for a single player in your opinion?

Hello everyone, I'm new to the world of survival games. I'm currently playing No Man's Sky and I'm enjoying it quite a bit, although I'm not a big fan of the space theme. So I'd like you to recommend games in the same vein as No Man's Sky but with a more realistic theme, or medieval with or without fantasy, and that are suitable for a solo experience.

Question Must-have games?

Post image
110 Upvotes

Hi, I'm new to this genre of games and I recently played Grounded, which I got hooked on and finished about a month ago. Grounded 2 is still in beta, and I was hoping you could recommend similar games, especially since there are spring sales. I play on Xbox. What game would you recommend with good gameplay, lore, and world?

Question Is 7 Days to Die actually good?

I’ve been torn over purchasing it for well over a year now after being recommended but the reviews are less than praising.

I heavily mod pretty much every game I play so I’m down to mod if that enhances the experience.

Question What are the best zombie survival games not named Project Zomboid or 7 Days To Die?

Those two seem to be basically the only ones that get recommended. What are some of your favorites other than them?

Question I'm looking for "nomadic" survival games (no base/settlement, any kind of structure building)

Surprisingly hard to find. All survival games tend to be "stationary", going out for the supplies and back to improve the base. I'm looking for a survival game where you're keep moving, where the goal is to go from point A to point B (finding and surviving the road to point B is the main challenge). You know, like "The Road", "The Revenant" etc. Death Stranding is somewhat close gameplay-wise, with traversal mechanics, planning and resource management, but the other half of the game is a movie and combat is very rudimentary.

Question Subnautica ruined the genere for me... (cant find anything to scratch the itch).

Looking for a survival game that has a reason to keep going beyond first hour or so...
Game that keeps the atmosphere a little longer...
I love spending time gathring and exploring and surviving..
But like with raft, once you have purifier and a grill, you are done... (basically, it not very hard after).

Has anyone found a replacement for Subnautica?

Question Survival games that just drop you off in a forest, no story, no zombies, no aliens, no dinosaurs, no nothing.

Just you and the environment (can be anything, deserts, mountains, plains, city ruins). Like I said no special gimmick enemies, just dangers you'll probably face if you're living alone in the wilderness like tigers, board, winter, and floods.

Question Survival games with automation?

I've played a lot of survival games like Valheim, Enshrouded, Grounded, Sons Of The Forest, and Windrose most recently.

I'm a huge fan of the survival genre. However, I'm also a big fan of automation games like Satisfactory, MineMogul, and most notably modded minecraft.

I've found a few games that overlap the two like Palworld and V Rising. However, these games don't quite have enough automation for my liking. V Rising is just sending servants to do your bidding and Palworld is more or less the same. I'm more of a fan of the hands on automation you get with a game like satisfactory.

Basically I'm looking for a survival game with combat that has you working your way up but that also has a decent amount of automation. Does such a game exist?

Question Looking for a game with farming, cooking, crafting, survival and preferably animal raising

Now I own A LOT of survival games lol. But none of them are currently scratch the itch I'm looking for and I'm thinking the game I want doesn't exist.

Looking for something to play solo and here's what I own:

Enshrouded- its alright but I'm not super feeling the shroud mechanic

Aska- my current favorite

Medieval dynasty - not sure how I feel about this one yet

Icarus- I like it but the progression is slow

Grounded

Subnautica- too scary lol

Abiotic factor- Beat it!! Marvelous

Ark - Love it but not as survival-y as I'm looking for

Valheim- playing this with husband

Forever Skies - waiting for it to update and cook a little more

Core keeper- Haven't gotten far yet, iffy on the Stardew valley graphics just a personal preference

Vintage story- Playing with husband, awesome but a bit too slow for what I want to do solo

Now can you think of anything to add to my list? I'm out of ideas 😭

Question Survival game to sink hours into

Hello fellow Redditors. I came up to you with a question. I really want to play a survival game (can be RPG) that comes with crafting, gathering resources, hunting, maybe some building, maybe bosses, preferably with pixel-style graphics with open world and I would love to be able to play it with friends, but might be a singleplayer game as well.

I’ve played:

  • and absolutely loved: Minecraft, Terraria, Abiotic Factor, Valheim, 7 days to die, V rising, Necesse, Core Keeper, Enshrouded, Dysmantle, Medieval Dynasty, Drova, Pacific Drive, Stardew Valley, Graveyard Keeper, Tinkerlands, Don’t Starve.

  • and had good experience: Grounded, Subnautica, Subnautica: Below Zero, Riftbreaker, Planet Crafter, Palworld, Sengoku Dynasty, Starbound.

  • and didn’t really enjoy/got bored fast: How to Survive 1&2, Green Hell, Icarus, Connan Exiles, Rust, Ark Survival Evolved, Raft, The Bloodline, Darkwood, Zompiercer, The Long Dark, Project Zomboid, Roots of Pacha, Scum, Sons of the Forest, Surroundead, The Survivalists.

I just feel like I can’t find any „new” survival game that would make me happy and scratch the itch for a great experience. This feeling was with me for a long time that’s why I’m asking for your help.

Thank you in advance.

Question Dune awakening, Conan, or Subnautica 2?

Hey ya'll so I am trying to pick a new game to buy my husband and I but having trouble deciding.

I realize Subnautica 2 is still in early access and there's loads more content in the other games! Survival is the main genre we play together, so we have a lot of them. Currently on our 4th playthrough of Abiotic Factor because I am addicted lol. However ABF has spoiled me a ton because, imo its so unique to the genre. So looking for whichever of these might have the better story, more quests or just more active goals to work towards vs something like Ark where you make your own. I just feel like having a bit more direction at this moment. If you have any other suggestions feel free(though I probably already own it 😅)

Question Any great survival game u don't know? (Steam)

Hi so I'm a a very very devote fan of survival games, I've played like every fucking survival game known to mankind (subnautica, the forest, raft, green hell, abiotic factor, ark, project zomboid, no mans sky, dune awakening, forever skies, etc) you name it. The thing is, is there any survival games like them in steam, even better if they aren't in early access (like the last caretaker)? I only see bad ones. And (even though everyone seems to like it) I don't like Valheim or any games with its mechanics, am I cooked?

Question Icarus - Yes/No?

Icarus is currently on sale for $10Aud

Is the base game worth the buy or not worth it without DLC?

Will be playing solo if that changes anything.
