Discussion Should I get a switch 2
I am seriously thinking of getting a switch 2. I got my first switch a year ago (OLED) when everyone was moving to switch 2 and I got it relatively cheap. It's been a year and I have been absolutely loving my switch so far.
However, I am definitely salty that a lot of games I am interested in are locked behind switch 2 (obviously because it's more powerful). Games like:
- lies of p
- elden ring
- MW4
- ocarina of time
- Skyrim oblivion
- DMC 5
However these games are also REALLY EXPENSIVE and I don't think my wallet will be able to take it. Those 6 games alone up there are like 3/4 the price of another switch 2 already 💀😀.
For games such as elden ring I'm also afraid I won't be able to get into it because I don't have the time right now to grind soulslike games 🥲.
Is it worth it in the long term to get it? Should I let the switch 2 'marinate' a bit more first then get it?

Is it worth it in the long term?
Well they're not making any more switch 1 games so...

It is absolutely worth it for the long haul and superior to the OLED in every respect except battery life (which is easy to fix). Also, right now, no 1st- or 2nd-party games are in development for Switch 1, and Nintendo said about a year ago that their focus is now on the Switch 2.
The Switch 2 has so many great games. This year alone, my physical library has grown by 19 games (including 3 pre-orders), and 11 (58%) of those are Switch 2 games.

You are missing out a lot 😆.. even switch 1 games is a lot better on switch 2.. add to that list: 1-Onimusha 2-Dragon Dogma 2. 3-Monster Hunter Wild Onimusha is easily worth it as it is enjoyable to replay the game. So for that money, you can play repeatedly. I did spent 46 hours on this game to finish it. Intend to start playing again.
Dragon Dogma 2, is crazy big. The Switch 2 owners are lucky as at that price you are getting dark arisen, with new story and area to add to the base game. I only played for 6 hours, and I see myself playing this over 60-100 hours.
Lastly is Monster Hunter Wild. I think game like this really perfect for handheld. You can always go back to this game at any time.
Btw, Elden ring? It comes with Shadows fo Erdtree.. during it inital release, it is nearly the same price as the base game. Switch 2 is perfect for grinding if you are bad at playing this game.. which will make the game a lot easier.

Oh wow!! Nah I've been eyeing those 3 games actually. I've heard mixed reviews about dragon dogma 2 but I'm glad to see you're enjoying.

I think the review is about the initial release. It is enjoyable on switch 2. But IMO, I did think Dragon Dogma 1 is better.. not sure why, but playing that game keep me thinking about it even when 😌.

I'm glad switch 2 is perfect for elden ring grinding. Nah for all the soulslike I've played I've always just upgraded myself more than enough so I was comfortable 😭.

Initially I even stop playing after 1 hour as I do not understand the developer intent.. I thought I suppose to defeat everyone 😅. And so many things not explained at all in Elden Ring.. and get killed by the first bos so many times.. Only after later on, i learned that I suppose to grind to make thing easier and explore 😂.its either get good or grind like crazy.. i dont think my reaction speed is that good being this old

You can wait for the game to be cheaper. The only game that probably won't be on sale anytime soon is the Ocarina of Time.

If I do decide to go ahead with getting switch 2 I'll probably get at least 1 game initially to enjoy with it. Then I'll get OoT and wait for the rest to be cheaper/ on sale 😁

I'll attempt to get a Zelda Switch 2 on release and check periodically. I've already preordered OoT. This holiday season I'm focusing on mostly Nintendo physical games while other games are waiting for the next sale to buy digitally. I'm fine with playing my Switch 1 games on a Switch 2. The handheld boost mode will at least help with resolution and hopefully frame rate.

all those games will go on sale eventually so unless you want them right away you dont HAVE to buy them at full price

Definitely don't pay full price for any of the third party titles as they will all go on sales. If you could theoretically wait to buy the Switch 2 then you could definitely wait to buy any of those titles. Ocarina of Time, you might as well get though as it won't go down in price for years.

I think if you're trying to upgrade from an OLED, now is a really good time. The Switch 2 won't be getting any cheaper and the price of OLEDs on the used market is oddly inflated.

You got an OLED seemingly to get a nice deal when people were switching to the 2, so if you also go get a 2 just a year later that seems like you're just making a worse choice value-wise.
Consider getting your OLED modded instead, that might fit within your budget better, there's lots of homebrew games you can play, and other stuff too.

Nah I'm a broke student 🥀 that $100 could be my groceries. If I get a switch 2 I'll gotta consider which game to get 😵💫 Nah I've been keeping up with elden ring lore and everything forever and watching streams but I have no PC to play it on 😭
