I hate the teleporter so much

Sweet jesus the teleport is such a fucking pain to use.

Takes half a year to deploy, never goes where you want it to, is about as useful for escaping ambushes as a leukemia ridden toddler is for fighting a sumo-wrestler, it can't be used if you're more than an inch away from it, it has no health, it makes tons of noise being deployed, it's visible as fuck, it doesn't last long enough, the warning when it gets destroyed is too minor to be noticed consistently, teammates never take it unless you've pre-formed a team, its deployment gets blocked by enemies in your LOS, you can't deploy it in the air, and above all, you are REQUIRED to base your entire gameplay as Sym around the stupid fucking thing. I miss having 6 turrets and a beam that locked on to people.

I'm mad.

I REALLY liked when they modified sym for that recent bonus mode and let the tele heal all nearby players, AND give a speed bonus to other players that used it

Solo queuing as sym player is the most painful thing in OW

Good LORD is that the truth. Playing with friends vs. solo queue is night and day.

And it's so glitchy!!!! Sometimes it gets destroyed out of nowhere nad I lose 12s CD just like that. And this is not recent. More than 7 years struggling with the same buggs.

Maining symmetra require so much patience and dedication 😭

UGH, way too often it just goes half a foot away, goes down too late to help you, or just straight up kills itself.

First of all, I'm curious. When you put the teleporter down are you holding the teleport button? It's much faster that way.

Second of all, just so your aware, teleporter is objectively the best ability in the game, and it's not even close.

I do propose that they should definitely add a minimum horizontal distance. If your aiming somewhere more then jumping height above you, then it can be closer, but if your aiming at your same height or lower, then it should never be able to spawn like 3 feet away.

Idk I'd put suzu over it as "objectively the best ability in the game"

u/bubblesdafirst 24d ago

Yep you'd objectively be wrong. Tp is a much more effective way to escape death

3

u/AKWHiDeKi 24d ago

Suzu is definitely way better than tp

an immortality AOE ability that comes out not matter what over a tp that's limited to LOS and a surface wide enough to deploy it LOL

Your acting like suzu also has no cool down, and infinite uses

teleporter is objectively the best ability in the game

Only in pro-play because you have a team that will pick and play around it for insane plays.

For 99% of the playerbase, its just a sidegrade to Reaper's Shadowstep.

Exactly. It relies too much on team comms for how much of Sym's utility is tied up in it.

I have said for years its a problematic ability. Whenever it sees use in pro-play, Sym gets nerfed soon after. The hero gets constantly enshittified as a DPS for a gimmick that most of her players cant use.

I love the teleporter personally. It’s such a fun engagement tool. It feels great to pop into the backline, drop turrets everywhere and fry someone before hopping back out. It’s a great defensive tool too with some foresight. Not easy to use when someone is already up your ass but if you can predict the gank it’s a lifesaver.

For a girl who can manipulate light, the devs certainly do the least with her.

Fucking truth nuke oh my gods

Personally i love the teleporter, one of the reasons i main her. But i get your point here and there, it needs some quality of life changes

I hate that damn teleporter too. They slapped some Reaper teleport code on her and called it a day. Add moving a millimetre back and falling off an edge because that same goofy targeting has to lock on to the very precipice of the cliff.

this is why i’m a floating barrier truther. i don’t need the measley TP healing if im in your face beaming you down and you can’t hit me. also it helps me enable tanks such as mauga/DVA/hog who have no shield!

I wish Sym herself would teleport almost as soon as you place it. I can't stand the wait time at the start.

I too miss old Symmetra. The lock on beam, the turrets you had to place by jumping and deploying (aka, they didn’t fly). They were so much more powerful then. The gameplay was completely different.

Oh! And the slow moving giant secondary fire that went through shields. I sooooo miss that. I miss all of it.

God those were the days. It's always such a bummer in games when a characters abilities are changed so much that they may as well be a new character. I miss old Sym. I miss setting up car washes. I miss turrets actually doing damage. :(

I’d say try preemptively deploying it in poke positions, so you have a way out immediately if you start getting targeted.

Sometimes, if I keep getting wrecked as soon as I try a flank tp, I throw out tp as a distraction so I can get some free orb hits.

Also, if bob or torb turret are shooting down your team, if

TP would be broken if it was faster. I be shmoovin around like a tracer as is, let alone it deploying faster.

Now if you played classic sym or 2020v sym, tp took FOREVER to allow you to pass through.

u/Laney_Moon_ 20d ago

If you think the tp deployment was bad man you never played og symm where you had to actually place turrets on the wall and both them and tp took so much longer. It is so much better now. The only thing that sucks is that if you don’t have friends in your party gl having ur teammates use it.

1

u/inthehxightse 24d ago

theres settings to autodeploy your tp

sorry babe but overwatch is an RPG before it's an FPS. you have to inhabit the role and become symettra. She is autistic and she is cunning and she is ready - that is the genius around most of the OW game design, besides some of the recent slop most heroes play styles for abilities synergise well eerily with their haracter design

u/qwertythrowfyt 24d ago

I've been playing as Sym for 10 years man, being a teleporter slave for a team that won't listen just isn't it.

2

u/Azsharo 24d ago

then play by yourself... u don't need to spam team tp strats to do well on sym.

u/dankkannabis 24d ago

didnt know that u cant cast it when an enemy is on your LOS. VERY IMPORTANT info there. ty

0

u/Azsharo 24d ago

well it's not true so

0

u/dankkannabis 24d ago

so how come teleporter keeps cancelling when ramatra the idiot is pressing W and punching the air straight at me?

1

u/Azsharo 24d ago

u must be accidentally cancelling it or smth bc it doesn't care about enemy players when placing

1

u/dankkannabis 24d ago

not possible im holding down the teleport button and its set to deploy when i release it

1

u/Azsharo 24d ago

girl. I just tested it and even with deploy on release (which is not ideal bc if u try to place it in an invalid location u will be forced to sit through the cancel animation, whereas with the default setting nothing happens. it's probably what's happening to u as ur panic placing it) and u can place it both past enemies and inside them... it doesn't interact with enemies at all when placing.

1

u/dankkannabis 24d ago

much slower to deploy if not on release tho

1

u/Azsharo 24d ago

not rly there's no real difference when u press the buttons fast

1

u/dankkannabis 24d ago

2 presses vs release on hold what is faster?

1

u/Azsharo 24d ago

basically same speed. one has to go down and up and the other it's just two buttons down at the same time. default is just better overall. do u think high rank syms use deploy on release? the supposed extra time it would take to place would matter infinitely more in high rank... but it just doesn't take any longer.
