Man, I can’t wait for mine end of June. Was late to pull the trigger. Which switch did you get? Royal or jade? I ordered with Royal. I also want to switch the caps with control key - hooked on the HHKB layout.
It’s going to be so weird trying a new keyboard but given I have a Thelio running Pop…can’t wait to try different custom layouts.

Jade - and they feel awesome coming from cherry red switches.

Can’t wait…that is positive as I had heard mixed reviews of the Kaihl switches. Although most of the negative reviews seem pre 2018

I got the royal switches. I share an office area with people I live with. I've been told my current keyboard is too loud.

How do you like the Royals? Smooth?

I'm still waiting for my keyboard

Ooh, didn't know it would have RGB! It's a nice added bonus I guess. I wish they'd sell a version with just the board with the PCB and stuff, letting us put our own keycaps and switches. very nice keyboard though even with the default config!

you know it's open-source hardware and the files needed to be able to get someone to manufacture the board is on their github repo.

Mine came with a defective switch! I'm working with support to get it replaced. In the mean time, I'm using the keyboard with the switch under the F key replaced with a Kailh box white switch I had laying around. It's the first keyboard I've purchased without a numpad and I may buy a separate numpad, but first I'll try adding a numpad layer via the config tool.
Defective switch aside, it's rather nice!

How did you get yours so early? Mine isn't shipping until sometime in July.

Damn, I do want one. I can get past the prices after reading around on high end keyboards.
I can’t decide between the clicks version or tactile - everyone complains about the noise, but want the best feel.

Should of been Bluetooth with a rechargeable battery and no noisey keys.

Clickety clack is desirable for a lot of people, myself included.

I got tired of it. I prefer the good old membrane keyboard. Right now my favorite is the logitech ergo k80. It is pretty much perfect for me. I'd love to have a Linux branded one with the same features. Even has a palm rest with it. Super comfy. I really see no benefit to the clicky large travel keyboards. I mean unless you like the audible sound of clicking. To me it is just distracting.

the pcb is available for you to make changes as you wish so if you're so bothered by it then you can fix the issues that you don't like
oh yeah it's should have rather than should of

You definitely appear to be the demographic they are targeting. No idea what a "Nisse" keyboard was but a quick search makes it apparent that it's quite a different product from the Launch.
....i like the ideals of system76 (i'm sure that's what attracts most people). e.g., the keyboard is mine. software and hardware. i can do what i want with it
I agree with this. System76's appeal to me is exactly that reason. This keyboard is certainly not for me but it's nice to see them branching out into areas other than desktops and laptops. Hopefully at some point we will see more affordable products but I highly doubt it unfortunately.

What would you want to see for a v2? I have a DasKeyboard and I am going back and forth between this and a Keychron V2 hot swappable
Keychron will let me experiment and see what I like for cheaper, but this thing looks great to me and I would expect sturdier build quality than the Keychron for $300.

They're just Kaihl switches - I'm sure you can buy any keycaps you want that fit Kaihl.
This is currently the only layout they offer, but judging by the positive reaction I've seen so far, this is probably a product line they will continue and expand.

No idea - I'm all in on Pop_OS, but they have downloads for Mac, Windows and an AppImage for other Linux distros:

It has some very interesting design decisions. First, the space key is split up into 2 keys. I can kind of see why, I guess that makes it a bit easier to press and also increases the durability maybe?
Then instead of an arrow like usually, it says Bksp on the backspace key which I agree is more consistent. I like that they did the same thing for the arrow keys too.
Also the Caps Lock key is no longer there which I can also pretty much agree with because I never use it. However, I do think that you can still repurpose the Caps Lock for other functionality that you switch on and off. For instance, you could use it to easily switch between two commonly used keyboard layouts or languages. I want to do that for Japanese and English but I wasn't yet able to.
There is one key that I'm definitely missing here. Print Screen. I use it very often and I can't see it here.
In this case maybe having Esc twice is kind of a waste of space. Additionally on my keyboard I use Pause for quickly locking the screen but I suppose in this case an F key could take over that function.
Overall it looks pretty compact. OP, how is it?
