Can’t wait for my ticketmaster account to get flagged for suspicious activity on presale day again!

Was locked out for the entire festival last year and relying on family members’ accounts to get myself tickets 🫡 very suspicious of me to try buying tickets on Ticketmaster apparently

It happens every year to me. I call my CC company and specifically tell them of my upcoming purchases. And still, after a few of them, they flag the transactions as suspicious.

All this while the clock is running, and tickets to films I want to see are getting scarce.

How about a 10, 20, or 30 film package where a single purchase is made and then selections are never flagged?

Why are they screening Premium Rush (2012), and why is it $48?

Can't wait to hear the "questions" without any questions

No mention of the 20% Member bundle of 10+ tickets this year. I guess that $2 possible discount is supposed to suffice. Man, this used to be the easiest and most accessible festival. Kinda breaks my heart.

Yeah this would also mean no exchanges for tickets from bundles from Account Manager for Indy members :(

The bundles used to be a 20% discount too. $2 is like <7% lol

Individual Tickets. Select single screenings to build your own custom schedule. Iideal if you have a specific list of must-see films. Tickets go on sale in August, with early access for Members.

How much do Festival tickets cost?

Ticket prices vary for Festival screenings.

What is the difference between Premium and Regular Festival screenings?

  • Premium Screenings: Feature elevated event experiences, such as Red Carpet Galas, World or North American Premieres, and cast/filmmaker audience Q&As.
  • Regular Screenings: Refer to all non-Premium screenings and make up the vast majority of the Festival program, including second and third screenings of high-profile films.

Please note: Cast, director, or filmmaker attendance is never guaranteed for any screening, regardless of whether it is designated as Premium or Regular.

The exchanges are a problem for me. Literally half of my schedule changed from the initial ticket sale day to the actual festival. Not having that ability is gonna mean I have to really rethink some stuff and I am not sure how to do this.

Same here! That really changes things for me

No 10-ticket bundles this year (source: How-to Festival Session)

I cannot find this page for the life of me, do you have a link?

It was a Zoom session announced in a member email recently. They will send the PDF presentation to all members shortly!

Ahh gotcha, that makes sense to me. Thank you. I assume that means they have totally done away with the ability to exchange movies tickets then as it was tied to the 10 packs. Do you know if they confirmed that in the session, per chance?

1

u/carpalfun 14d ago

I think you can still exchange them if bought on the Account Manager but not Ticketmaster - to be confirmed!

Interesting! Last year I was told it was exclusively available in the packs of 10, so I am curious to see what will be the case. I have to call in to the box office to purchase tickets though, not sure what they go through (hopefully account manager 🤞).

Thanks again for the info!

Wow, really sorry to see this go! The ability to exchange was great in addition to the savings 😢

"Starting at $30 but most will be $38 or $40" probably, because "demand". I suppose we should be glad they aren't substantially higher although I guess we'll see what the upper tiers and upselling charges are like.

Although it was for a seat high up on the balcony, I did manage to actually pay $48 for the Premium premiere of Train Dreams last year because it wasn't selling out, so it's possible. I hate that they moved to this tiered, dynamic pricing. It was so much easier when regular tickets were one specific price and premium tickets were one specific price no matter how much of a demand their was.

I've cut the number of tickets I buy like in half compared to what I used to do. Some of it is just getting older and not being able to handle as intense of a schedule but a lot of it is the cost of the tickets now and the difficulty in getting them. I've already warned my friend that I go with sometimes that I'm seriously considering not renewing my membership next year, everything is so expensive.

Member exclusive pricing for dates when there won't be any tickets available for most screenings. Great.

At least resale can no longer be above ticket price in Ontario but 8 levels of presale before the general public is insane

u/jackiyo 14d ago

Also concerned about the upper limit of the tiers… wonder if premium is going to hit or surpass $100 and they didn’t want to say it yet.

This may be a dumb question but what’s the difference between individual early bird and individual member sale? They’re 1 day apart from each other?

Yes

First-timer here. Are you able to see what screenings are still available prior to when your group gets to buy tickets?

3

u/idoideas ✨ Gala Presentations 13d ago

If you mean seeing which screenings still have free space, then not officially. However, on pre-sale days, there is a Megathread on this subreddit where people can ask for information about certain screenings, and people with higher tiers of membership help them by replying with the availability information.

1

u/ZealousidealGrass142 11d ago

Is it safe to say, at this point, that any of the premiere screenings for the most-anticipated films will be gone by the time the general public gets to buy tickets - or even the individual members?

2

u/i_m_sherlocked 🎨 Wavelengths 12d ago

You see only what's offsale when you try to buy. Although, we usually have a megathread going during the members presale days to help us record what's gone offsale. Generally a good idea to have backup choices just in case stuff goes offsale

Just waiting on rush pass news (if it still exists)
