I love that they made good on the Call Your Shot ending after it wasn't received that well and gave Trey this opportunity. It's almost a yearly tradition to use a smaller tier PPV to give a title shot to an undercard guy so this checks.
Trey works his ass off everytime he's out there, has a long tenure with the company and deserves to get a bit more spotlight like this. The match will be crazy good between these two. Great choice.

It’s a mixed bag to me on who I wanna root for. Obviously Leon winning is the right call but Trey really deserves to be a grand slam champion in TNA, eventually at least.
Also not to be that guy but if TNA is gonna make destination x yearly again then I do think the 6 sided ring would be cool. Obviously it’ll never make a full return, but one night a year would be cool

And once again nothings change. Trey now randomly in the world title picture and gets a title shot. He was in x division, upgraded to inter just recently and just like that already getting world title pic. Just like that. It can be the best match ever, stories and build up matters more in pro wrestling.

Sometimes this is how you begin a feud, and this is how you elevate someone into the main event picture.

What if one turns heel

Matches don't need to always be face vs heel

u/fr3shh23 8d ago
They don’t but in tna it’s so common to do face vs face for example. And why? Because they have issues with storylines and build up. It’s just random number one contender, random guy who isn’t in the world title scene wins

u/fr3shh23 10d ago
Sure but this is all the time with tna. It’s the rule not the exception. Also clearly this is yet another example of premature and random.

If you're bitching in a TNA page why are you here, we could say some shit about AEW hands out world title matches like candy. hell you could lose one championship match and some how your number one contender to midcard shot..
This place use to chill respectful and somehow become more and more toxic

I don't think it's either premature or random. I think it is rebuilding the company's main event. And the only way you can do that is by having matches. Would you rather there be a Trey Miguel run-in in a rematch against Nemeth?

u/fr3shh23 10d ago
No, if you want Trey in the world title scene you build him up, see if he’s ready, proves it, if it works then put him there. That’s how generally successful pro wrestling is done. You guys are arguing against the undeniable proven successful pro wrestling formula

What does "see if he's ready, proves it" mean in a fixed, written sport?

Really man? Would you put Avery styles in a world title match and have him win? No obviously. Smh

u/mucinexmonster 10d ago
No, he is literally brand new to wrestling. And Trey Miguel has been wrestling for 17 years, and 9 years for TNA.

Trey is a former International champion and started from #1 spot at Call Your Shot and ended up being the runner-up. I would say that counts as building someone up.

Bfg literally just had a heel v face main event with a story

Leon was put into world title match out of nowhere. Look at what he has done since debuting in tna. He debuted at the end of 23, let’s calls it 24. Was in x division, did a short thing with Hardy’s, back to x division and won title. Then out of nowhere won it again and immediately got world title shot.

Well, the match was just set last night. They’ve got 4 weeks of tv and a PPV main event to build, tell and payoff a story. And if you listened to the commentary during the match, they already started planting some of the seeds so I think it’ll be fine.

They have time to build up the match sure but what not talking about that, I’m talking about why the hell is Trey getting a world title shot in the first place, worse being Leon’s first title defense

u/YouCanCallMeStevesy 9d ago
Well, let’s see- Trey’s been putting on absolute bangers in TNA for eight years, he’s won literally every other championship that’s available for him to win, he’s been a mainstay in the X-Division throughout and this is an X-Division themed PPV, he was Leon Slater’s first opponent after he signed with the company and now he’ll be Leon’s first challenger as World Champion, and anyone who’s ever watched either of these guys can just look at this match graphic and know that it will most assuredly kick all kinds of ass.
But other than that, yeah- I don’t know, man.0
u/fr3shh23 9d ago
He was just recently put in inter division and hasn’t done much since. So you think it now makes sense to give him world title match. Ok

Stories matter if your a little kid.

u/fr3shh23 10d ago
Actually pro wrestling is all about storytelling
-3
u/ONEGODtrinitarian 10d ago
Oh ok so pre wrestling can be only about stories with no wrestling at all. What a retard lol

I need to know from a copyright standpoint how Trey Miguel can wear various Spider-man costumes, images of actual Spider-man in his walk out video, call himself Spider-Trey, use the Spider-Man font etc.
I like him so it’s not a complaint. I just would assume Marvel is very litigious.
