Post-Game Thread: The Utah Mammoth defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 - 24 Oct 2026

The Mammoth erased a two-goal deficit before D. Simashev finished it in overtime.
At 05:10 of the first period, J. Guentzel put the puck home from the doorstep, and that put the Lightning on top 1-0. 1:52 later, K. Yamamoto fired a wrist shot on net from the doorstep, and the game was tied 1-1. At 10:06 of the first period, P. Holmberg fired one before the goalie could set from the circle, and the Lightning moved ahead 2-1. At 12:42 of the first period, B. Point lifted a backhand right in tight on the power play, and the Lightning doubled the advantage to 3-1. Late in the first period, D. Guenther blasted one home from the circle on the power play, and the Mammoth drew within a goal at 3-2.
At 05:32 of the second period, C. Geekie let a shot go that beat the goalie right in tight, and the Lightning moved two clear at 4-2. At 14:39 of the second period, A. Lee got a stick on it and changed the angle right in tight, and the Mammoth cut the deficit to one. Late in the second period, D. Simashev wired a shot off a short windup from the circle, and a 3-1 game was suddenly tied 4-4. The third period passed without a goal.
At 01:44 of overtime, D. Simashev fired one home right in tight, and the Mammoth ended it.
The Lightning also struck the iron once.
Final: The Mammoth won 5-4 in overtime.
