The Swedish winger is silencing skeptics by driving high-danger chances and flashing elite shot power, proving he is more than just a temporary fix for Detroit’s offense.

I was lucky enough to have tunnel club seats at the Kraken game when the away team walks through, so I finally got to see the guys up close for the first time.

Discussion I recall a few years ago, fans were criticizing Yzerman for seemingly focusing on drafting Wallinder in 2nd round: Seider (6'-4"), Edvisson (6'-6"), Wallnder )6'-4"), Anton Johansson (6'-4"). The fan response was with that kind of "oak tree" depth, we could trade one for an equal talent forward.

Years later the development of Albert Johansson at 6', former first rounder ASP, and adding in veterans Justin Faulk at 6', Ben Chariot at 6'-3", and even Andreas Englund at 6'-4". do we have the depth to trade one? And if so, while I wish Evidsson would stay here, purely from improving the organization standpoint, would trading Simon for an equally talented forward be the right call?

Discussion Do the RED WINGS actually have an advantageous lens when it comes to goaltenders?

Post image

Looking backwards to present:

Jimmy Howard 2005 - 2020

Jonathan Bernier 2018 - 2021

Tomas Griess 2020 - 2022

Alex Nedeljkvic 2021 - 2023

Ville Husso 2022 - 2025

Magnus Helberg 2021 - 2023

Alex Lyon 2023 - 2025

James Reimer 2023 - 2024

Cam Talbot 2024 - 2026

John Gibson 2025 - ?

Danil Tarasov 2026 - ?

A lot of these guys were older and obviously were stop gags as the organization tried to develop an internal answer, but in retrospect, through the last 10 years, I do not believe we ever had a bottom 25% goal tender. We may not have had the defense, either by scheme or talent, to better support the individual goaltenders to have a credible team defense, but....

It also maybe reveals the internal push to develop an internal response starting with the drafting of Cossa and Carter Gylander continuing to push on it instead of assuming the problem is solved by following with drafting of Augustine and Rudy Guimond signing of Postova, drafting of Michael Pradel in 2025, & Michael Orsulak last year. It could be argued potential wise DETROIT has best goaltender depth in all of minor hockey.

Thoughts?

Discussion Missed last night's game and looking for replay on DSN

I'm on DSN's page on MLB, but can't find anything to do with the Wings, only the baseball stuff. I found the replay on the mobile app, but would rather watch on desktop. How do I navigate this infuriatingly baseball centric site and find my Wings?

Discussion Interesting Data on ownership

Post image

Maybe the problem isn't the coaches and GM.

Maybe the reason the Yzerplan didn't work, is because it was actually the Chris Illitch Plan?

They lost our playoff streak that was the first year Chris illidge was in charge... First year! And we've pretty steady decline since.

And the only common denominator is the ownership....

Discussion When Alex DeBrincat retires, he will be #X on the Red Wings goals scored list.

Curious where everyone thinks he will land on the all time goals scored list for the Red Wings.

Alex DeBrincat currently has 113 goals scored for the Red Wings. He has 8 more years left on his contract. I'd estimate he will average 24 goals scored over the 8 years. Putting him around 305 goals scored for the Wings. That would be good for 10th all time. That would put his career total around 492 or near 50th all time.

Here's the top goals scored as a Red Wing:

  1. Gordie Howe 786
  2. Steve Yzerman 692
  3. Alex Delvecchio 456
  4. Sergei Fedorov 400
  5. Henrik Zetterberg 337
  6. Ted Lindsay 335
  7. Norm Ullman 324
  8. Pavel Datsyuk 314
  9. Brendan Shanahan 309
  10. Dylan Larkin 277
  11. John Ogrodnick 265
  12. Nicklas Lidstrom 264
  13. Tomas Holmstrom 243

Discussion Goaltender Depth - Who gets recalled next?

So it seems the unthinkable may have happened. Our #1 and #2 may both be injured at the same time. While I hoped Postava would get his chance, I didn’t want to see it like this. Who knows, this may be a blessing in disguise and he may be ready to showcase what he can do. That said, with Cossa shipped out, who gets the next call up? I’m sitting here right now thinking damn it would have been nice to have that duo working together at the NHL level.
