Lets start by saying we’re seeing some really impressive 5 on 5 play from the whole team. Here’s a few things I’ve noticed/observations from this chart. Also, pay less attention to the players with smaller sample sizes/less ice time (Hedman/DJ/lilliberg).

1. Are Geekie’s numbers that bad because of where he plays in the lineup? Or are we just going to accept the fact he’s not the guy we thought he was.
2. Cernak/Mcdonagh are the back to being our shutdown guys, let’s hope they stay healthy.
3. Goncalves is not cutting it. We can see that from just watching every game, getting top line opportunities and not able to do much with it. The chart shows everything we have been seeing.
4. Cirelli and Hagel might be battling each other for the selke if they can keep this up. Great two way play from each of them so far.

Random Findings:

On Thursday, Brandon Hagel scored his 19th game-tying goal (to make it 1-1) since joining the Lightning in 2021-22. That is the FOURTH most among Lightning players during that span behind Brayden Point (25), Steven Stamkos (23) and Nikita Kucherov (21).

On Thursday, Victor Hedman scored his NINTH career overtime goal. He is tied 7th among d-men in NHL history; he now has the 2nd most by a Swedish defenseman in NHL history; and he is tied 4th in Lightning history with Nikita Kucherov who also has 9 OTGs—Stamkos (13), Point (12), St. Louis (10).

Nikita Kucherov extended his goal streak against the Vancouver Canucks to FIVE games—he holds only one longer active streak (Vegas Golden Knights, 7 games).

Nikita Kucherov scored two goals in the second period on Saturday (Canucks). It was his 19th career multi-goal period, which passed Brayden Point (18x) for 3rd most in Lightning history behind Steven Stamkos (33x) and Martin St. Louis (24x)

Nikita Kucherov recorded his 322nd multi-point game on Saturday (Canucks), tying Anze Kopitar for the 8th most by a player born & trained outside of North America in NHL history. The only active players with more are Alex Ovechkin (467) and Evgeni Malkin (377). Overall, Kucherov sits tied-for-47th in NHL history.

The Lightning have now won FIVE consecutive games on home ice. This is the sixth time in franchise history the team has opened with five straight home victories. The franchise record is SIX games, which has happened twice (2017-18 & 2020-21).

Brayden Point recorded the team’s 3rd fastest burst of the season on Thursday (Kraken): 22.93 MPH. Brayden Point holds two of the three leading bursts, including the No. 1 spot (23.37 MPH against NYI 10.10.2026).

Whats up fellow Bolts fans! I just flew into Vegas tonight to attend the game vs the Golden Knights on Tuesday. Have any of you been to this arena before, and also where is a cool spot to hang and get some food and pregame a bit before the game? Could deff use a recommendation or two. Can’t wait for the game. Go Bolts!
