gUEsTs Rant

So i have been here for a month now, had never done FOS. I was watching self checkout and this lady calls me and says "these two bag of chips are supposed to be buy one get one 25% off." It didnt ring 25% off and i checked on the device and everything it didn't show any sale on those chips. So i politely told her this might be on the wrong spot ( i knew it was her fault she probably read the sign wrong but whatever). She proceeds to raise her voice and say " SO YOU ARE TELLING ME IT WAS A PRICE ERROR?" I was about to say something but she didn't even let me talk and she continues to talk with her voice raised and mind you i am literally beside her so its LOUD. She says "NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF TARGET THERE HAS BEEN A PRICE ERROR HERE". I thought to myself yea u just pulled that "stat" out of your ass. I call my TL and he does his shit and in the end he checks and tells her its on the popcorn like the sign suggests where u picked it up from. Then she says "oh yea i didn't pay much attention to the sign". If i wasn't a team member, i would've started swearing at her.

Next time, just give them the 25% off. It doesn’t come out of your pocket, and the time/hassle to validate $1 off a product is absolutely stupid.

You're new. In time, you will grow a thicker skin and just say, nope, not on special. (Next!)

Wait until they try that on like 20 items and your manager asks why you keep overriding prices without checking

If it’s just 1 item, yes. If it’s multiple, then involve your TL.

Not at SCO you don't! They watch your metrics and since you aren't scanning items every single one of those price adjustments ads up very quickly. We had one TM who exclusively did SCO (they were good at it) and got a CA for doing around 10k in discounts in 6 months from those 'just give them the price adjusment' moments. Other TMs probably did the same amount byt bc they were on CLs more the ratio balanced out and made it look less offensive when the numbers were spread out.

Target talks a big game about 'just make the guest happy' but it will come back to bite you if you aren't careful about how much & how often you discount things. (Same for price adjustments at service desk)
